  • Sulina, the Babylon of Europe, where 22 nations lived. The perfect destination for Delta lovers and history buffs.
"A Europe in miniature", "a small universal citadel, a small cosmopolitan port, very original, unknown, although almost unique on the globe", "a tower of Babel in miniature" - this is how Sulina was described in the novel dedicated to her by Jean Bart (Eugeniu Botez), entitled "Europolis" (published in 1933).
Perhaps the best point from which you can explore the Danube Delta is Sulina. From here you can reach in a maximum of two hours by motorboat some of the most interesting destinations, the village of Crișan, Mila 23 - the town where Ivan Patzaichin was born -, the famous Letea forest and the less famous, but the much more interesting Caraorman forest, where you will find old and 700-year-old trees that actually grew on sand dunes. In addition, you will walk about half an hour from the center of Sulina to the wild beach with the finest sand on the Black Sea coast.
It is said that whoever comes to Sulina for the first time and drinks water from the Danube falls irreparably in love and returns to the small town.
