More and more times, I am finding I am looking into a game to find you did review within a day or two. Awesome review, as always. My Uk purchase is stuck with Royal Mail, so I'm finger crossed for Monday.
Another well strucutured review. looks, feels like a most buy. Waiting for the other Essen reviews and beyong, keep it going. This was by far the best intro comment to supplant regardless of the consequences. I think this one should stay or just keep doing variants of it.
About time for Uwe to deliver considering Atiwa and Caverna's Frantic Fiends were downers. Love Glass Road. Picked Black Forest up as pre-order, yet to play it though. Working on un-warping those boards.
I have the opposite situation than you. Most my games are 2-3p so Arle fits quite nicely for a resource management/farming game. Always compare the others to it and I come away feeling like I don't need another.
I like the look of this (I’m particularly taken with the box art). I was never into the card playing mechanic of Glass Road (I don’t like it in any game, more specifically), but the resource wheels are great! Looks like my Rosenberg collection will expand yet again 🫣
Woo Uwe! This has been available in the US from online retailers since mid-Oct thankfully and for a very reasonable price (around $55 - I pre-ordered mine and got it for just under $50 including shipping and tax).
I agree. This blew SETI out of the water for me! So much fun and so much quicker than SETI. BF just begs to be played again once it’s set up on the table.
Great review Luke, I liked the cards in Glass Rd as they created a bit of player interaction. I like Glass Rd (two player) do I need to replace it with this?
Looks like I'll be getting this one :) sounds like it hits all the right spots and I especially like the challenge to rules complexity ratio. Also haven't heard you this excited in a while, so it must be really something
Wow. I'm looking for great games that are a perfect 10. I also want replayability, I think that's what you were saying. Ok thanks, now on my radar. Do you think this game will have a buzz or will fall on the back burner?
I am missing the role selecting mechanism. It is fun tense to think about your oponnent moves in the 2 player. Here i think more about my own puzzle. But it is still a very good game
Exactly. The cardplay in GR is the best part! It's like poker, trying to figure out what the opponents are planning and then leeching on their turns, at the same time outsmarting them so you get the full actions. Perfection, which sadly many people don't see (they haven't played it enough / get discouraged by the leeching).
Uwe's euro games mostly all feel the same to me so I'm happy to only have one (Nusfjord). The question is whether I have the right one.. as this looks fun and pretty.
Awesome review as always my friend. Quick question do you generally just not like playing with 4 players much? I just keep hearing most of the time 2-3 that’s all. If so maybe do a top ten 4 player games you would play 😂. Anyway I always bang on about this, but if you have people in your circle who suffer from bad AP I always bring a hourglass with me to the game that I play with them. If they still cannot be pushed along at a good clip then I won’t play it with them 😅. I know it sounds harsh but I have friends that can literally double the time a game should take because of their AP 🤪. Anyway sorry for the rant awesome review, these types of games are generally not my cup of tea but you have peaked my interest with this one.
Games don't often scale themselves properly for extra players, so full player count can take longer than it needs to often. 3 is a sweet spot for many many games. But yeah maybe Top Ten 4 Players is something to consider 🤔
After this and SETI (and Earth a while ago) I am just reminded that you and me really have such different tastes in many places but also overlap in very specific areas (e.g. Lacerda). Basically, if it’s a mainstream release you gush over I better avoid it.
No double-edged compliments, no caveats, nothing but gushing love!? Wow! I've been watching for years. Good review. 👍
Won't happen often 😜

Awesome review, as always.

"Now instead of one, you have two". Glass Road had two resource wheels also.
Yeah forgot!

Wow I did not expect that score. Great review, in glad I already have this one.
What is better for two? Glass road or Black Forest? I can get glass road for $45. Black Forest will cost double.

You’ve convinced me to push this one to the top of the queue. Found it in retail last week on west coast USA, but not sure how wide distribution is.
The term you were searching for is the Depth to Complexity Ratio.
Curious, for a 2-3 player game do you prefer this or Fields of Arle with Tea & Trade?
For 2p this didn’t do much for us. Just felt super stagnant
Fields of Arle with two for sure. Though I play Arle mostly solo.
I have the opposite situation than you. Most my games are 2-3p so Arle fits quite nicely for a resource management/farming game. Always compare the others to it and I come away feeling like I don't need another.
This made me preorder the game, looking forward to it! Great review!
Looking forward to your take on Civolution (I assume you will give it a go) 😊

I love both games.
I have many games on my list of games to get. It’s top on that list. Glad you really loved it. :)
2-player Glass Road lasts 30 minutes so there's place for both on your shelf. Glass Road is a thinky filler ;). The card mechanism was great.
Don't often play with two and 30 minutes is unlikely at the best of times.
@@TheBrokenMeeple played it many times in 30 ;). But sure, if you play with 4 people it's less than ideal.
I felt Glass Road completely lost its magic at two.
@@looktothefuture84 I felt the opposite, that Glass Road due to the unique 2 player mechanics shines at 2.
Great review Luke, I liked the cards in Glass Rd as they created a bit of player interaction. I like Glass Rd (two player) do I need to replace it with this?
I personally prefer this game but if you like the cards then I think you can keep both.

Yeah so far a couple great games lately...... Though ones I've yet to review won't be as gushing.
Erm mine is coming on Monday in the UK. Ordered it a few days ago!

Capstone games actually shipped it to us customers the week of Essen. Mine has been sitting unopened since then

What did you do with Luke? We might need to send search parties...

I actually liked the cards...made for interesting choices and planning
Too chaotic though at 4 players at times though.
Dammit Luke! Are you trying to destroy my budget!?😊
Ha ha don't worry, some upcoming stuff won't do that 😅
The resource wheel is similar to the one in Ora et Labora
Awesome! Do you now need to redo your Uwe list?? Lol.
Yeah what did I include, fields of Arle, Caverna.... And atiwa I think..... This one would kick atiwa off the list.

Most mainstream releases I don't gush over, I will certainly say, I've played a bunch of other Essen titles lately and they won't be gushing ones.
@@TheBrokenMeeple hence the 'if' 😊
@@looktothefuture84 exactly :) thanks
How multiplayer solitaire is it please?
Semi. You have to give players goods if you visit the same village as them. They can also block spaces you want and move the trades people around.
I can't see that title and not think 'gateau'...
