- the q&a is finally here! my phone kept trying to re-focus in some parts of the video, so i tried to edit it to make it less obvious (hence, sorry about the closeups 😂).
anyways, this was really fun to film and i feel like i talked a bit too much because it took me a while to finish editing 😆

Sdc5 is an example of don't try to fix what isn't broken.
yes they wanted to place more focus on the dancers as it is a show about street dance. And they wanted to keep yibo as he is the main traffic. if yibo remains captain then basically it's a captain's battle and he would eventually win all the seasons coz yibo's fanbase is the strongest amongst all the other captains. and top dancers wanna be his team. anyone of them associated with him will definitely garner more attention in comparison with other captains. sdc wanted to avoid antis or gossip media that might have a chance to force yibo to not be part of future seasons. the fact is there's no other top star that can top even half of what yibo has achieved on sdc. there's no another one like him that can bring sdc all the advertising endorsements and money. so they have to keep him no matter what. if yibo goes then most of the money and traffic goes too.
@dandelionangel, You were so right in your post right here. I just came back to watch and saw your comment. No one would have expected the obvious outcome like that, but the fact showed how much the program dominated by Yibo.
Thank you so much for your edits.They are hilarious 😂.Its really interesting what different fans think of yibo’s roles , because Xie Yun from LOF was my favorite yibo role to date, there were a lot of inconsistencies with the production itself, but I feel the role was so subtle and had hidden facets, and was so different from yibo’s real personality, that it really brought out his acting skill..
I think it’s more personal preference 😅since I really couldn’t get into Luoyang and the Untamed.As you said, What I also love about yibo is that he’s picking such different roles and isn’t afraid to challenge himself, just like he did in SDC..You should try Gank your heart, probably might be the only Idol-type drama we’ll see him in , and his acting and the storyline are really good!

I “fell” for Yibo via The Untamed! I was profoundly moved by the drama, used to watch lots of hk dramas before Covid. Then it was cdramas and c-ent all the way (whispers..yeah, all Yeebs related 😂).
LOF has a lot of politics (for me) until ep 22ish, which I understand is Priest’s style of storylines. Once I pushed through the politics ep, it got better for me.
I understand your feelings about sdc5 but I was also glad it was this format this year because of his gruelling schedule of filming all over (plus some injuries he suffered😢). Of course I would love for him to be in a true captain role again if he continues to participate but it was fun to see his “producer” side this season.
Hey, I also speak a different CN dialect, my Mandarin is so rusty 😂 but once I got back into c-ent again, I was fully dedicated and watch everything in Mandarin only, am trying to improve this way (hopefully 😂).
CN is in my top 3 bucket list countries to visit, would love to see the origins of my roots.

You should definitely give Legend of Fei another try! I adore Yibo's voice, but I'd say the voice actor for his character Xie Yun did well. As the drama unfold, Xie Yun's character gets better. Intelligent, charming, mischievous....
Loved this Q&A! But *sigh*... Gank Your Heart is such an overlooked/underrated gem, Ji Xiang Kong is one of Yibo's best roles/characters. I've never played a video game in my entire life, but my god, I'd never cared so much about who won a gaming tournament in my life!

didnt they change the filming location of sdc 5 to the place where yibo was filming in? I think i remember reading something abt that, they did it so that yibo could be on sdc5 and still film his movie at the same time. not 100% sure abt this tho. also this season seemed much lower budget, i remember in seasons 3 and 4 the captains intro was SO COOL it was edited to seem like a movie and there were different stages like water stage, fire stage, etc. this season was just very plain, which is strange because they are making a lot more money than before.
also the reason sdc3 and 4 did well was bcs the captains were more involved so it seemed like a real competition, it was so thrilling to watch the eps to see who would win i was on the edge of my seat. this season was just like a normal dance show, there was no excitement at allll. Before you could tell that the captains got along well and would joke around and have good convos, but this season it was soooo awkward i was cringing so hard sometimes. The most interesting captain this season was yibo who was so funny and talkative, and i never thought i would say that bcs we all kno he doesnt talk much!! Liu Yixin just......was very very boring she refused to react or be funny. i get that shes introverted but this is a tv show, you have to be entertaining!! also nathan like who even is he? he was just some boring guy no one has ever heard of, is he even good at dance?? this sounds like im hating but im not, why didnt they get popular captains like Jackson or Lay from last seasons? i dont get why they did this
and i agree, Yibo is just leagues better at dance than the other captains, he is so good that it is obvious he would have won this season too bcs all the good dancers would want to work with him and his great leadership capabilities would have gotten them the winning towel. Bouboo and Rochka even said that Yibo is part of Criminalz Crew which is the BIGGEST dance crew in the world with the best worldwide dancers like Les Twins and Waydi, that is a crazy huge honor many dancers would kill for.
I hate how in c-ent there is such a massive amount of rumors and cyberbullying that drags down ppl like Yibo who are just trying to do their work, why is that? Does anyone know??? Also sorry for the long comment hahaha, i just love this show alot.

I think it also helped because Bobo, Lay and Jackson were already friends for years so their chemistry is very genuine on screen. And then there's the fact that they are all extremely handsome, talented, hardworking angels....😇 💜
I can relate to not getting into lof easily and it def has its cringe moments...but the show is def worth watching! Once you get into it (I think it took about 12-13 eps for me), and once the action picks up, it is suchhh a fun show! Has a ton of funny and cute moments and yibo will make you cry several times! I found myself rooting for Xie MeiMei and A'Fei so hard! So trust me, do give it a watch, it is so worth it!!!

I agree 100% about your SDC 5 thoughts. The episode where the dancers pick which captain's team to be on was always a fave of mine. So sad to see it gone. And the VIP episodes. It was sad as I felt so detached from the contestants. The episodes are so long I'd always have to wait a day to see the VIP episodes and so I'd forget the dances they'd done & the VIP BTS didn't mean as much.
SDC3 was my favorite season as well. I thought the captains were all great and actively worked with their teams. The hotpot highlights that season were great as well.
How you got into Wang Yibo was literally how I got into him. The timeline was basically the same too
Stumbled onto SDC3 during lockdown in NYC. I love hip hop/dance and have never watched any Asian shows prior. I thought Yibo was so talented and I was really impressed with the show and his dancing. Found Untamed after and very similar to your timeline too. I also was so confused about Untamed had to watch first episode twice as I wasn’t used to C Period dramas but was hooked after. I didn’t love SDC 5 as much cause Yibo didn’t dance much prob due to his busy schedule. Do you think the format was changed to accommodate Yibo’s schedule? Happy he’s coming back for season 6!

Thanks for the great video. I'm surprised you don't like LOF that much. Yes, the voices have been sychronized, which I find equally garbage, but the story progression is getting really interesting.
I agree with you about SDOC V. I was super disappointed with the season as well. It may sound harsh, but I found it so boring in parts. I don't know why, but somehow I didn't like the format at all this time. I also have to honestly admit that I didn't get along with the two new captains. When Va Ness (was that his name?) came in for two episodes, I had to think of you.
I couldn't get through LOF either 😂
All the characters are irritating, imo, including yibo's. I will probably try again at some point, but...

Yibo started his this year journey that any other celebrity only could dream. His short film All Tomorrow's Parties also nominated in Berlin Film Festival. His movie Hidden Blade is also showing worldwide and getting a lot of praises. Hope you know all of these
