  • Aking Bituin, also known as O Ilaw, is a traditional ‘Panawagan’ song. Panawagan (Calling) is a subset of harana songs that were sung while outside the house, typically below the window, announcing their presence and asking respectfully to open the window.
If they’re linvited in, a new set of songs are sung inside the house called Pagtatapat (Proposal) where men declare their admiration for the woman’s beauty and presumed virtues. I’ll cover this in the next video.
