The problem is, buying game from a local game butcher isn’t cheap. Plus it’s very difficult to get on land to shoot any wild game. So in reality eating sustainable game is for wealthier people or the fortunate ones who have permission to shoot on someone’s land.
@@JohnSmith-cs7jgI think you will find it is actually very easy to get cheap sustainable game, especially if you live in the countryside. There are a few shoots near me which always have excess birds, and will sell pheasant, duck and goose for £0.50-£1 per brace. People don’t want animals they have to do work with to eat unfortunately
I had the pleasure of hosting Murray in a chalet many years ago in Switzerland. A truly lovely man. Great to see he is living the traditional life I aim for.
used to work with a guy who hunted dear he used to give me legs of venison all the time and his wife used to make venison curry burgers sausages etc i love venison
Such a great video, Thomas! Love how you combine respect for nature with a sustainable approach to cooking. The stalking and cooking process was fascinating to watch, and the venison ragu looked absolutely delicious.
Traditional, wholesome, sustainable, living off the land, what more would you want , we need more of this life , apart from those pheasant shoots what other game is open to the general public? A question , is this a past time for the rich ? I hope not as we all need to appreciate good living / food .... Could smell that Ragu
We have Roe deer round us, where we are in West Sussex. Contantly stealing the food off the Red deer that my father-in-law manages!! Thank you for including the farmers reasoning for needing to have their population managed, people need to understand we cant just "let nature be" because it'll start causing all sorts of problems, for people and wildlife alike!!
Woooo thank you for promoting British, wild, sustainable meat!
Please get Thomas on the podcast.

Sustainable until they commercialise it to make money. Greed always ruins things 😢
