Once a baby can roll over it is no longer safe for them to be sleeping in a bassinet... At least where I am at. Our little guy is a few weeks younger than Jaxton and has been sleeping in his crib since a week and a half old. He is a wonderful sleeper that loves his crib. I feel like the early association helped us and him out greatly! As for rolling onto his tummy - he will let you know if he needs help, if they can get to their tummy themselves it is safe for them to sleep that way.

Letting Jaxton do naps in his room is a good idea. With help of the installed camera it will build up your confidence Jaxton can do it and he will slowly get used to sleep alone. As others have said buy a pack and play for in your bedroom. Also handy when you go on Holiday. Not too many changes at once because Jaxton already knows his bed. Little add: Have you looked into the cry it out method? Just wondering 🙂

Owlet sleep sock have been the best purchase we got. Our baby started sleeping in their room at 3 months. Naps first then naps and night. If that does not work we used a pack and play in our room with a black out tent over it

I was worried about the flipping over during the night too. the first few nights i would constantly check on him but turns out he just sleeps way better on his stomach! and he somehow always keeps his head to the side so he can breathe! definitely lay Jaxton down on his back, but if he flips he’s gonna flip. not much you can do about that!

  • @christybourque8251

I was always told that if a baby is old enough to flip himself over and can hold his head up good with Tommy time then he will be fine if he turns during the night! Now granted my kids haven't been babies in 8 years and all they slept is on there belly since birth. ( that's the only way they both slept) they do make sleepers that hold your baby for older ones that might prevent him from being able to roll over, if that don't upset him lol. You guys are great parents I am sure you will figure out what's best for him and you!

Cassie, I struggle with migraines too. I'm also a health scientist with a particular interest in neurology. I would definitely recommend you go see a neurologist. I'm from the UK, so I don't know names of US medications, but a neurologist may be able to give you a medication that's safe to take while breast feeding. They can also help you track & manage your migraines & figure out your triggers so you can avoid them.

All of my babies have been belly sleepers once they can roll to their belly and they enjoy sleeping like that. If he doesn't like it i would suggest the Merlin suit. I think it's a weighted suit(looks like a snow suit) but it's suppose to help with the startle reflex/ settle them down. I don't think he could roll over easily in it.

I made being in the bedroom part of the bedtime routine.... My kids would start with a bath then we went to the bedroom read a book/cuddled then we did our last feed before bed so they were nice and relaxed then off to the crib they went... My daughter was a little harder. I had to rock her to sleep then put her in the crib. But they get used to it pretty quick so just being consistent will help you put him to sleep anywhere he needs to sleep

As long as he has good head control, I wouldn't be too concerned with the rolling. And letting him cry a few minutes won't hurt him. It will teach him how to self soothe a bit.

Do you always have the bassinet on motion when he is falling a sleep? That might be a big reason he won’t sleep in his crib since the scrub is stationary. Also do you have
Another room closer to yours? If not maybe temporarily move your room closer
To his until he is a
    Bit older.

  • @NatashaF2014
    @NatashaF2014 2 года назад +14

You just have to be consistent with putting him back in his crib. It might be a few sleepless nights but he will eventually understand thats where he sleeps. Try putting the blanket he sleeps on in his bassinet, under him in his crib if it's big enough. And in the crib during naps too.

With my first I started with naps in the crib once they were too big for the bassinet. Then about 2 weeks later we did bedtime because she was doing great for naps. They always started out in there every night with a bedtime routine. I usually brought her back to my bed to nurse and then brought her back to bed after nursing. I didn't have as long as a walk though! Holy Cow! What about naps in his crib and get a pack n play for after he wakes up to nurse the first time? I know my littles slept longer in their cribs after awhile since they couldn't smell me or hear us move around in bed.

Oh Cassie! I get Migraines too. What helps me is Strong coffee and exedrin.... If that doesn't
work... eat a Wendy's frosty or Ice Cream.
Something about the coldness of the Frosty that causes brain freeze is a headache reliever too. Hope you feel better! :)
"Brain Freeze. You can also freeze out a headache using ice cream. To do this, put a spoonful of ice cream in the back of your mouth. Allow it to melt completely before you swallow. Although this treatment may be painful at the time, it is a great way to “cool” your brain down, effectively stopping a headache or preventing a migraine "

Just a suggestion! Because Jaxton wants to feel your presence, this is a possible reason he ‘ doesn’t like his crib’ . So for your peace of mind , and the baby’s, my suggestion is that you should go into the trouble of taking down the crib and set it up in your room, so he can get used to it, have more space, while you guys are there in the same room, and I believe that Cassie won’t be nervous about Jaxton being so far away, and gradually as some months go by, he will be older, get used to his crib, and you can put the crib back into his own room….just a suggestion, as it worked out very well with our situation! 💕💕

  • @carterheinzer

They pack and plays with like a bassinet on top. It make it where they are higher up in it so you don't have to reach as far down. My child slept in their for the first couple months until we moved him to his crib.
If he is rolling to his belly himself you really do need a bigger space for him. Plus it is fine for him to be on his belly if he is doing it. If you dont feel comfortable about something dont be afraid to talk to his doctor.

Rolling over during the night always scared me too!
My mum suggested to use a rolled up small towels to put beside them while they were sleeping. Then i brought a mat (which I think was designed for this reason here in England, London) it had 2 soft velcro cylinder shapes that attached to it, so the baby lays on the mat and each rolled up piece is on each side if them.. the cylinders never moved because of the velcro.
Good luck.. hopefully not for long.

it helps to start with naps in his room. and it does look like he is out growing his bassinet. You can get a mini crib or portable crib that looks like a real crib but smaller for your room and after getting him to sleep in his room for naps then you can have him start out in his bed in his room but then if he wakes up you can take him to your room.

We never had an issue with baby rolling over onto her tummy at night and getting frustrated because she couldn't roll back onto her back again because we swaddled her at night. Swaddling also makes baby feel like they're being hugged. I like to think of swaddles as the womb outside of the Mom's womb. It's their own cozy cocoon for sleeping.

What you could do too, is let him start with Napping in his Crib. Make All nap times in his crib. Start nap feedings in his rocking chair and then put him in his crib. That way everyone has a easy transition into him sleeping in his crib. And at night time, let him sleep in your room for a couple more weeks in a Pack - N - Play

Our trick for transitioning to the crib with our twins was just consistency. We would do bath bottle lotion then bed. We started with rocking them to sleep first then laying them down. If they would wake up and cry we would pick them up calm them then lay them back down without putting them back to sleep first. It took 2 1/2 weeks of doing this without any breaks but they finally got it and it was so nice. Once baby understands you are still there they are more comfortable in their crib

I am a pediatric nurse. Jaxton is probably getting too big for a bassinet. He needs to sleep in a crib where he can move around. He will learn to roll over the opposite way any day now. You do not need to “flip” him. He is not going to suffocate. Mamaroo type products are nice, but cribs don’t move or rock your baby to sleep. He needs to learn how to put himself to sleep if he is not sleeping after you nurse him before bed. He may fuss and cry a bit, but if you pick him up out of the crib every time he cries, you are reinforcing the behavior. At some point, he will learn to self soothe. He is not in charge, and you are there to guide and teach him through the stages of his life. As to the fact that you don’t want to walk to his room, perhaps you should have thought about that before you bought the house. That is a first world problem. You will survive.

I loved using like a side car situation on my bed. So you could leave the crib in his room and get a smaller crib that attaches to the side of your bed. I always felt like if my baby could get themselves on their belly and slept like that and they had the strength to turn or lift their head when needed it was fine to let them find what is most comfortable for them. I have 4 kids and 2 of them always preferred to sleep on their tummy and still do.

Make sure his arms are out now that he’s rolling. If they’re swaddled down and he rolls he risks suffocating because he can’t use his arms to left his head and/or roll.
He’ll learn to roll over eventually. Lots of practice during the day!
    He’s gorgeous, you’re doing a great job Mama! 💕

I was freaked out at first but she is so comfy and our pediatrician said if she's rolling by herself, then it's safe for her to do that on her own.

yes start naps in there. And yes as long as there are no loose blankets or what not he will be fine on his tummy.

Maybe you could try putting a small crib in your bedroom till he’s a little older . So glad you told us about Koda .
