    This may be a bit of a essay, but I found some things with the phrase: "Seeking Truth, the wise find, instead it's profound absence" but more specifically "the absence of truth and knowledge" (as I know I heard it somewhere I just can't pinpoint where...)
    This leads to an 18th century philosopher, David Hume, who created what is known as "theory of custom" or "philosophy of custom". He argues that our belief in causality comes from custom or habit, and not from rational inference or empirical evidence. It's the argument that when observing two event happen, one caused by the other, we infer causality, and not correlation.
    A more simpler example of this is saying "when it's dark outside, crime rates are always going to be higher!" because some data correlates more crimes happen during night time than day time. When, in fact, it could just be the cause of criminals knowing people are asleep, not it being night.
    So, this can be just a straight up hint from the devs saying "you thought of some things were caused by others, but you are wrong, they are just correlated events". So, there may be a step along the way of maybe solving the eyes, or another puzzle, where the search is grounded in something we believe to be a causational relation.
    Oddly enough, Hume's philosophy is that grounded in skepticism. So, as tough as it may seem, perhaps a zero-knowledge rebuild may be needed to solve the eyes again, or at the very least we need more skeptics. lol.

      So if I’m understanding this correctly, if the Cauldron’s contents match the solution to the Cessation cypher, then it could just be a “correlation” in the end rather than one being the solution to the other.
      Perhaps the whole key to solving the Cessation cypher is actually more common than we realized, and can be used in some way to solve or make progress in some of the other puzzles in the game.

    • @CheshireCad
      @CheshireCad 8 месяцев назад +25

      It could also be the opposite, where the community has ruled out the path to the solution, based on evidence that was actually just the result of bad luck. Such as a bug causing an important clue to not appear every time that someone looked.

      I'm not sure if this is where you've heard it but the game "Path of Exile" has several boss areas based on the eldritch creatures in the game that sound similar: the "Absence of Value and Meaning," the "Absence of Symmetry and Harmony" and the "Absence of Patience and Wisdom."
      Path of Exile is known for having references to weird and wonderful things in-game, so those names could have a deeper meaning connected to an external piece of media. Hope this helps!

      Yeah I feel like it could have to do with alchemy (irl) being so widely studied and having promised the concept of ascension (apotheosis) but actually being a really *really* in depth misunderstanding of the world around those who practiced it.
      Basically, this isn't going to lead anywhere, not in its current form. However, consider the influence that alchemy has had on modern day sciences and philosophy.
      We will be able to *use these tools to find "the answer" *, but the answer isn't going to lead to developing the perfect interplay of the elements, the philosopher's stone, in stead chasing the Magnum Opus will be what gives us the tools to understand that it doesn't actually exist anyway.
      Data mining. The answer is the ability to data mine. We already have it, the ability to break down and understand the whole of the world of Noita, from the perspective of essentially an omniscient God, and that's all there is.
      Just my 2 cents as an alchemy nerd.

    • @hibikikensaki
      @hibikikensaki 8 месяцев назад +21

      The use of the word profound makes me think otherwise. If you think of it from the troll angle that doesn't add up because all of this searching has lead to tons and tons things including the literal continued updating of the game. The obvious reading of touch_grass is funny sure but it's not like it doesn't have a use giving us another spell that basically says stop but, just as with touch of grass if we instead push forward with cessation more stuff continues to happen, the gods start looking for us, it's certainly not nothing at all. I just honestly think if the Noita devs wanted there to be nothing there then there wouldn't be more, they clearly are all smart enough to design something that ties it into a nice bow as they don't even have a problem moving old stuff like bringing the skull up into the meatzone.

    "Seeking truth, the wise find in itstead its profound absense" In Noita, the Gods (devs) want you to defeat kolmi and end the game by turning the world to gold; the more the noita deviate from this path, the more Gods (or in some cases, the magical creatures/machines that intend to stop you from breaking the world) smite them with their divine wrath (which is how we get alternate endings). In this sense, this secret is telling the noita that they have become "wise" by seeking truth, only to realize that the truth they seek is an illusion, absent, and open to interpretation. I believe that if you win the game the normal way, then use this spell to become absent right before before the work turns you to gold, there must be something that changes... as above, so below.

    I think what the message means is "you're overthinking it" because I just don't see a reason why they would a) even put the cauldron into the game loooong before the cessation puzzle was even added and b) give hints about there being a meaning to the eye and cauldron puzzles. Like you said, Noita devs love to troll us, but I don't think they'd let people actually waste their time on something for more than a month or two before saying its used in a future puzzle or just saying it has no use yet. It just doesn't make sense why they'd add it way before the cessation puzzle.

    • @FadeRadio1
      @FadeRadio1 8 месяцев назад +8

      I think it's multi-layered. I do think that that is the surface level message (after all, they literally added a 'touch of grass' spell in the same update), but there clearly IS mysteries yet unsolved with these things. I think it's meant as a deeper hint that on surface level is also saying we're overthinking certain things.
      You are right though, I don't think that the eye/cauldron puzzles would just be things that were in the game way WAY before they puzzle they were meant to be a part of was actually added. I think this is an extra hint to try to steer us in the right direction, but I think the puzzle must be something we could have theoretically solved way back when the eyes and cauldron were first added. Whatever the 'absence of truth' means as a hint must have to do with things that have been in the game for a good while now.

  • @FadeRadio1
    @FadeRadio1 8 месяцев назад +13

    While on the surface it may sound like a "lol get trolled" level message, it seems much deeper than that. The 'absence of truth' is important clearly. We can take that literally and take it to mean we need to do something with zero orbs of true knowledge, but maybe that's just the start. Consider deeply what the word 'truth' means in this context. They could have used the word 'knowledge' instead, but they specifically use the word "truth".
    What is the absence of Truth? Fiction? Lies?
    What else in the game might we apply this logic to? What other aspects would be considered 'seeking truth'? Perhaps there are elements of the game we have to consider as 'untrue' or outright lies/falsehoods.
    Also another thing to consider: The rock boss reminds me a lot of the "final" boss of the game, Kolmi. They are both intrinsically linked to the player character: The rock being a mirror of us, and Kolmi getting stronger as we gain more knowledge. What if the rock is our 'opposite': ie, a 'negative' version of us in a way. Perhaps we got the rock to somehow collect an orb of true knowledge it may count as 'negative true knowledge' or 'false knowledge' for us. Just spitballing there. Hell, maybe we can only move the rock away from it's room when we are absent from the world. Dunno HOW the hell we'd move it any real distance while we're stuck in the shadow realm, but it's possible.
    Also, the word 'absence' really just makes my head spin with thoughts of of that 'The gods can't find you' text. I'm almost certain that new spell has something much MUCH deeper to it than just a way to beat the rock boss. Perhaps it's literally saying that to find the Truth we seek, we need to be absent in some way.
    Mostly what I assume is the most obvious hint though is that we need to do SOMETHING with hallucinogens. When I think of 'un-true', I think of hallucinations. That would be the most literal form of falsehood I could see being at play here. Problem with that idea, is that we've already tried just about EVERYTHING we can think of with the hallucination mechanic, and we've yet to turn up anything noteworthy in that regard.

      Been thinking a bit more about it: it is strange how the spell makes you disappear if you lower the duration. This is unexpected but certainly intended. Also it does not make you disappear, it moves you a realm called the "no realm" which is certainly a hint that there is _something_ there, not just nothing. That makes me wonder if you can somehow reverse the effect, as in: pulling something out of that "no realm" to the real world.
      So my course of action would be to figure out if you can somehow influence the Cessation effect, as in ending it earlier or pulling the player back out of the "no realm" intentionally. If you can do that, then the next obvious step would be to figure out what else you can pull out of that "no realm".

    My cauldron theory is that the cauldron will be used to not only create the 13th orb, but also Mina's own emerald tablet and a new Orb Room. The room's location being up in the Work, to mirror the Hell Orb location. There is a spot already there for an orb room, it just doesn't generate.

    I ask because I have limited knowledge, and it was pointed out to me that the cauldron is apparently referenced as being related to permanence, but doesn't directly appear related to keeping something like fluid as a constant when a shift is applied. Additionally, I don't believe the nolla altar to be a "gift" to remove perks people don't want, it is a mechanic for something deeper in the lore somehow. And thus I am curious if perks can be moved from that altar to the nearby cauldron. I have no idea if anyone has tried this or if perhaps there is a link between cleansing our character of these perks (or duplicating them as the devs seem to imply they expected us to find out). My hunch is that the recent additions are help to find the solution to the cauldron or maybe the eyes. One puzzle gives a key which is meaningless by itself (except to solve its own code) but happens to correspond to the cauldron. So, what has been added?
    1. Mimicium - a liquid allowing you to copy other liquids. Mimicium means you can attain sufficient amounts to fill the cauldron with liquids that would otherwise be rare.
    2. Summon Fish spell - allows you to summon fish. Maybe placing a fish in the cauldron alongside a particular liquid has an effect.
    3. Touch of Gold? - a spell allowing you to attain an otherwise rare liquid easily. Maybe just for the Touch of Grass combo, but then again, urine has been an in-game liquid for a long time.
    4. Milk flask - again, hard to get hold of normally, but can become 'endless' thanks to Mimicium.
    5. Beer flask - again, hard to get hold of normally.
    6. Sea of swamp - gets you another liquid, although this might just be for the MoM kill with the mythology connection to Väinämöinen who nearly drowned Joukahainen in the swamp.
    The cauldron generates different versions on different days. My guess is that when you use the right liquid on the right day, with a fish inside, that's when it activates. As @ji_ji pointed out in the comments, if the wise find absence, then the foolish may find something. Absence of truth is the background slate in the cauldron room, so getting drunk in there sounds like a good test.

    A stretch if a relationship i think, would be the fact that one "set" of eyes is not a set, i.e. the eyes with no match in a parallel world, i.e. finding "an absence"
    I do believe the cauldron is connected. I think the binary discovery proves that.
    The entire cessation quest is alchemy related. The big empty tablet at the cauldron is far more readable as a metaphor for "profound absence". A big empty truth.
    While i dont know where to go from here, i dont believe this is the final solution to the cauldron/cessation quest... "nothing", that is.
    In regards to the arrow, i think it points to the big pile of diamond and sand directly below it. Why? Idk. But both mecha kolmi and perk altar are widely known community facts. We all know about those things already. There is potential in the perk altar tho. You can perk dupe with cessation, so that is something.

    Is there a mystery that we have already solved, that the eye code could have been the answer for, we just didn't realise? I understand that when looking for answers to it, one of the places that may not have been looked is at what we already solved. So maybe it was missed?

    Is there any chance that there's another key to use in the cypher? Like perhaps another message is encoded, and the message we have now is just the first level, the "easy" answer to get?

    Maybe the binary from the cauldron is useful for the eyes puzzle and this puzzle. It's just that we hadn't applied that binary to a meaningful way onto the eyes so they added a more obvious way to get that binary key.

    I feel like the solution of the cipher is saying that not everything has a hidden meaning. Sometimes there is a profound absence, or rather an absence of the profound. Sometimes the truth is simple, like the cauldron itself that the fan base obsessed over for ages only to find it was merely to provide a key. A subtle message from the developers to not delve too deeply where no secrets might exist perhaps?

    Just a thought, but doesn't the nullifying alter have a short delay before it activates? If you used the new spell to go to the realm of no realm (i can't remember it's name) in that time, would the nullifying alter still be able to remove your perks? Maybe something worth trying for anyone better at the game than me.

    Its crazy to think the cauldron could be just a binary key this whole time. If so id be slightly disappointed. At least we still have the eyes, and Noita will never lose it's magic and mystery for me. Keep up the good work Fury.

    The translation I'm getting from their quest they added here?
    "Y'all thinking WAY to hard on this. Go back to when the cauldron was just basic binary. Look at you, you went through an entirely different track through this admittedly smallish quest (compared to sun and moon)" and cryptographed the whole thing... JUST to find a code you already had if you just looked at the basics you already had available."
    Implying that the eyes aren't really as complex as we all think. Someone below said "if you plug in the eye code as eye states machine code for the vertical, horizontal A B and Start inputs of a breadboarded ps4 controller it's interpreted as the Konami Code". Which would mean, it's just a reference to a well-known gaming thing, but done in a more complex way... (but I can't tell if it was legit answer, or just being a little facetious, text is hard to translate sometimes)
    And someone else mentioned that we may have already found the 'solution' to the eyes, but don't know that it IS the solution to the eyes, because we haven't made the right connection yet. One example I can think of, would be the eyes somehow point us to The Friend Room, but we already have LONG known about it in the community. Not saying that that IS the answer, but it's an example. But seeing how we DO know the eyes were encrypted BEFORE being put in the game, it probably doesn't point to any randomly located items in the game, but it could point to static items.
    - PS: Or they're just saying, "You guys are making a huge deal out of this, and are going to be SO disappointed when you actually figure it out. Won't have been worth all the hype."
    - As in, it's probably just "Hello World" or something stupid-basic, and we're thinking it's some game-cracking code that'll break the game.
    - *Childish sarcastic voice* "HELLO! We've ALREADY cracked this game WIDE open. what more do we WANT? LOL
    PPS: Maybe the whole kivi-boss is literally telling us that we're killing ourselves, and while the ambition is admirable (cue the book that talks about sacrificing yourself) how many hours and and hours, weeks and years, of our collective lives as a community have we expended on this one set of puzzles? Sleepless nights, brains working overtime, exhausting ourselves to try and figure this thing out. Many people have already said it, some of you guys (note the change from 'we' to 'you' as I'm not smart enough to actually do more than just throw ideas out there occasionally) could be legitimate cryptographers with high-paying jobs and security access that most of us normal folk have never even HEARD of, let alone accessed. ;) But try not to burn yourself out on it.

    I read the clue similar to how you can use negative space in art to make another image. All the clues paint a picture, but what is left in the unused space? Or maybe its revering to the inverse what happens if we reverse what we know? Swap the colors to the opposite so to speak? Search with the graphics settings on the opposite end of the sliders?

    Cauldron room with 0 orbs and 0 perks will be my next test. I'm convinced that the 'absence of truth' is the blank slate in the cauldron room, so now I am considering ways to not be wise in the cauldron room. The arrow of the watchtower is either pointing to the perk removal altar, mecha-kolmi or the weird patch of dirt near the altar at its bottom left. To me, the most probable seems to be the perk removal altar.

    Has anyone tried using the cessation spell while at the nullifying altar, after shedding all of their perks?
    The watchtower lava arrow has me thinking that’s where you might be able to do something with cessation, as the glyph in the center guides you to unlocking it, and the arrow may be the “next step”
    Getting into crack territory but maybe one should go as far as to remove all of their wands (but the one) spells, gold, and perks before casting a cessation, as to have or be found with nothing, as the end of its cipher suggests.
    I think it makes thematic sense, and seems crazy enough to work given what we have to work with.

    I just can't (don't want to) believe that the cauldron is merely there to give tje code, it would make no sense foor the devs to hide it under so many layers (dont show up with mods enabled, the chunk of it is genereted by a cryptographed function etc) and it just be a a code to this, there gotta be something specific to be done and the cauldron will react to it, i hope, at least
