I made 100% cotton flannel non-paper towels about a year ago. I keep soiled ones in a small bin under the sink (until laundry day). Instead of putting them on a roll, I fold them in half and store them in a basket on the counter. It’s simple and easy!
You know i realised that it is easier for me to clean a mess or spill using the rag/towel that my toddler is learning to use for any of her spills and its actually given me the realisation that i was only unwilling to change from paper rolls because of the assumption that i won't be able to clean them up and it is easier on hand to have the kitchen roll. Nowwe i am swaying towards making the change and investing in it at least once we noice into our home.
Hi Mia - I believe you identified what I had become over the years - an 'information hoarder', an apt term! I am currently working to change my paper clutter habit and minimize my life overall, so I can both have, and feel, the 'freedom' to spend more time with my friends and family. Thanks for sharing part of your journey - much appreciated!!
I tried a few organising methods but the only one that stuck for me was the bullseye one & putting like items together. Bullseye is functional as you put your most used items right where you use them and work your way out from that point with lesser-used items. Then putting like items together not only made sense but helped me see when I had collected too many items of a similar type (this allows me to do mini versions of your selection decluttering) and prompts me to declutter as I notice things get too full. I went through a short 'trying all the things' phase but I just noticed I was cluttering my house up with organising products and had too many containers. Now I have a rule that I have to test things out in a location before I go a buy just the right thing to contain it in. Sometimes that is putting it loosely in a drawer, other times it's using what I have/recycling a box etc... The thing you said about learning about yourself is so key, and we don't learn that until we try it out!
I have ADHD and Anxiety Disorder, as well as chronic pain. I don't have the support system or physical help that I used to have. I'm also big on collecting information, but as you've stated, that isn't action! I get overwhelmed easily, and don't have money to hire help. I have a storage unit that I need to go through. Many things to sell and sort. A number of things that were my parent's items. I'm not a hoarder, however! I crave order and am on the minimal side! I just moved, and am seeking a system and items that will work for me! On a budget! Really glad that I found this channel! I love your low key style and approach. I don't feel shamed into buying into a system!:)
I'm so happy to see this and I'm glad you found some useful information :). I think that selling things and eventually ditching the storage unit will help that budget quite a bit!
Absolutely, so important to know that knowledge is not power. I can read lots of marriage books and have a terrible relationship, I can read organizing books and not ever do anything. Intentional habits are where real life is.
Wow! Sorry to post so late, but I just came across your channel recently---and I love it! ❤ yep on research/ info hoarding and creative organizing, but haven't yet gone bare...lol. Working on more simple and self minded space, but still not balanced. Can't wait to watch more of your vlog!!!
I've definitely been through the first two phases. Not the third but I am working hard to get to phase 4. I love watching your videos while I'm making dinner or working to help keep me motivated and on track! ❤️
. I have understood that Im on a minimalist journey but I will not declutter some things that are important to me. Things like books/DVD's, and home decor. I like to have 1 of each thing. For example in my dining room I have a table, 6 chairs, a rug, and table decor like candles, a bowl & a flower pot. Each room I do not have storage baskets, etc cause that for me creates clutter so I just have my essentials displayed or being used.
Great video…. I went through phases … declutter … use containers you already have ( kon marie said this as well) use up your stuff …. Then if 6 months to a year if you really need an organizing item purchase it as a reward …. I change things all the time on where I keep them ( I have one big box of small boxes from iPhones or other stuff )
I am stuck! I have changed my home drastically. However, I have a roomate that is a hoarder. We share a space in the spare room. Its a craft area/storage area. This is where she stores all of her craft supplies. She also changes the spaces I create after I create them. Not intentionally, just her habits. HELP! I think I am in the organizing phase about to move forward!
Well, when it comes to roommates there are some living situations that just don't work out for a shared space but good boundaries are always a must! I'd start with a conversation and a plan and move forward from there :)

Sound like it!

Did the same AND cut washcloths for “toilet paper”. Works great!
Me too got some bar mops for kitchen and orang microfiber for hands

You're welcome, Donna! Glad it resonated :)

Oh this is a really cool idea, this bullseye 😊

I relate to this 💯% 🎯 🤣😁👍💜

Exactly!
Number one certainly rings true. That is ME! Taking in loads of information but lacking in taking action.
You're definitely not alone!
Information hoarding! This is me! It ticks that box in my head that makes me think I've done something but there's still too much stuff in my house.

Awesome! Thank you!
I find organizing and decluttering go hand in hand. You should minimalize at the same time.

Definitely in creative organizing. Besides listening to you I also look up alot or organizing ideas. Slowing trying to seeing my home again with kids.
You'll get there!

I love re-using a good iPhone or Macbook box. They're so sturdy
Ok I need to get going it’s February!
Oh man! Supportive spaces!! ❤️That's a big chunk of what I've been missing when I declutter.
❤️
❤️ Keep it up!
Always!
I am just finding your channel. Are you offering new classes, because I think I could really benefit from what you are offering.
I have an instant masterclass that you can check out in the description if you're interested! Let me know if you were looking for something else. :)
and why is it you want to not move yours hands ??? is there something wrong with moving ones hands while talking ???

Wonderful thoughts! :) I also want to follow this mindset! If only my wife would cooperate... ;)
You can do it! Everyone has to start somewhere and not everyone starts at the same time. Keep it up!
Why is it bad to “talk” with your hands
