Thank you! Finally! You have captured some intimate sounds by a scrub jay whereas others are only capturing the screech. There are a series of whispers and calls by the mother and juvenile in our backyard family that are very nice that they share with one another and with us when we visit our California Scrub Jays beneath our California Scrub Oak. Thanks!
These guys are noisy but very furtive in bringing nuts, acorns and other goodies back to their secret cache. The fellow near me always alights atop a street light pole with an acorn in his beak, surveys the area then darts like a guided missile to his cache
We have two of these guys that come by daily to pickup some peanuts and take a bath. One will take a peanut out of my hand on the fly. It took a while to get him to that point, the other one is hopeless, he's too shy.

A scrub jay keeps coming onto my porch and taking my cat's food
I feed one of these birds every day I’ve called him Unser
Beautiful. I just moved to California and made friends with one ❤️ I love to sit outside and talk to it.

Bruce do you still see them?
A few years ago I once saw this bird in my backyard, they are so unique, saw it a couple times within a month, never saw it again after 😢
Such a goober lol
What do they like to eat what do you feed them
noisy damn birds!! 😆
Beautiful! Are they related to Blue Jays we have here in Ohio?
Yep! They're both in the corvid family, along with crows, ravens, and magpies.
@@CPColin2 Thanks so kindly for the info :)
Was that an eggshell Jay flew off with?
Yep. An all-natural calcium supplement!
Right. I am glad you care for Jay. I hear too many people that condemn Jays. It gets under my skin.
