I loved this episode even more than usual, thank you! The Lothstons have such a cool history and associated themes. Ser Illifer's reaction and words when he sees Brienne's shield in her first chapter in AFFC captures it perfectly: "My grandfather's grandfather helped kill the last o' Lothston. None since has dared to show that bat, black as the deeds of them that bore it."
There's a theory that the final battle in Winds of Winter will take place at the trident (Dany's dream) and Harrenhal will be the base for all the people against the others
Are you sure Lady Lothston was even a bad person. This is the same thing they always say about powerful women. "They steal children, they bathe in blood, they use infants in sacrafice. They have sexual congress with equines." Usually, these women are just wise, healers, or powerful women in a world that only respects men. To me, it would be more interesting if she turns out to be a healer who helped a lot of people but was maligned by society.
Well a lot of the women in the story are at least symbollically linked to crones, witches, and/or sorcery aka blood magic. Theyre being used as symbolic avatars of Nissa Nissa/Night's Queen just like a lot of the male character symbolism takes after the Azor Ahai symbolism.
