- Elliot has been living off the grid for a month after the hack of the centry, maintaining a repetitive routine in order to take control over Mr. Robot. bUt who will win in this battle for Elliot's mind.
From Mr Robot Season 2 Episode 1 "eps2.0_unm4sk-pt1.tc"
A brief flashback shows that Tyrell recorded an fsociety video the night he visited Elliot. One month later, Elliot has gone off the grid, living with his mother and maintaining a repetitive routine in an attempt to weaken the influence of Mr. Robot, who continually appears to him and torments him while still refusing to tell him what happened to Tyrell. fsociety continues under Darlene's leadership, hacking the smart home of E Corp general counsel Susan Jacobs and using it as home base after forcing Jacobs to move out. Gideon visits Elliot, tells him that Allsafe is no more and the FBI thinks he is behind the hack or at least complicit in some way. With Mobley's assistance, Darlene executes a hack on the Bank of E Corp, holding their records for ransom.

it also makes a whole lot more sense. One of the most rewatchable shows I've ever seen. Really, a looot of dialogues, analogies and even straight up reveals completely fly over your head, especially during s1 & s2 (which particularly got so much better on rewatch... was previously my least fav one simply because of the confusion amidst the new characters and slow plot-buildup)
The cinematography on this show is something else 😵🎥
07:18 you can almost hear a slight security door buzzer sound when he opens the gate, that's an incredibly subtle hint.
No spoilers but when I figured out the regime later in the season, I couldn't believe that they got me with a similar plot like season 1 had ffs.

I actually thought one time when Elliot and I think Darlene or Angela were sitting across the kitchen table talking that it resembled what the twist was but didn’t actually think that’s what it was
I always thought it felt off how he just seemingly integrated into his new "neighborhood" and suddenly made friends like Leon

The video part is probably just decent editing tbh, it's not like we see much of Obama on screen. It could be deepfake, but that wasn't as prevalent at the time that this episode was made.

These videos are vital. Remember, how do we know if what we're seeing in season 4 is actually the legit plot. I love how towards the end of this particular season, the plot was flipped onto our heads. It was one of the most mind fucking moments in TV.

@@panjak323 WTF!?! Sam Esmail really went all sci fi on us with this parallel world episode. Guess all those theories weren't wrong. That song that was playing in the car was the same song in the dream as well. It's all making sense. I think this series is going to end off as a loop.
The finale manh this will be going down as one of the most epic dramas with cinematography that's worth its weight in gold

Best TV drama series I had ever seen hands down! Where I realized Rami Malek was my favorite actor! And if it wasn't for this show, I would have never known who Joey Bada$$ (Leon) was! Which turned me on to a whole new wave of (better) hip-hop, for me!

I have a shizophrenic friend. She hallucinates all the time, but is aware of what is hallucination and what is not. One night while talking to her in chat, she said, "hang on, I just saw something, gotta make sure it's not real" Then she came back and laughing, said that it was a hallucination, and described the guy walking around her apartment. And then she said, "haha, oh wow, he just shot me. I hate my brain sometimes." O_O She could only handle social situations if she took acid, which - get this - stopped her schizophrenic hallucinations completely, even though she was tripping like anybody else does. And she is smart, and a good mother. Pshrinks wanted to study her, to figure out how she'd gotten a grip on her hallucinations and divergence but she refused.

Having read Elliot's journal, it's jarring how much more certain Elliot sounds with voiceover. In his journal he seems to be barley holding it together at times
Well, to be fair, the season premiere does start one month after the 5/9 attack, so Elliot has become pretty numb to the torture at this point.
In his journal he can be his honest self, when dealing with criminals or the FBI he can't show any weakness, no matter how terrified he might be

Hello, friend.
I like to review this piece after the whole series. There is a sad irony in this, the way the second season begins - before this scene, we are literally shown a moment from the past (with a window) when Elliot created a part of himself - Mr. Robot, so that he would help him for the first time, and then the camera goes to the present - into Elliot's notebook (which at this moment represents him the created part is a Mastermind) with which he defends himself from Mr. Robot (isolates himself from him). It's also a metaphor for how something that helped us before, we forget and reject after a while (especially when we become other Elliot/Mastermind)
This is like fight club, even the inner dialogue is similar... I like it.
The editing is on point, man.

I remember when I was first watching this show and I was still reeling from the twists in the previous seasons. The bit before this section made me go "oh no, what are they doing?", then this scene kicked in and I was like "oh, they still got the sauce"... One of the first opening scenes to a season ever I think
I like how detailed this show is, when Elliot is shot and lifts himself up, you can she some darkness on his skin around the entry point. This is the hot gases which contain unburned/residual gunpowder.
Nice Joey Badass cameo in an amazing show.
So wild seeing him in such a beautiful story and he plays a nice subtle part.

Absolutely love this show, its direction, music, scenes, actors, everything. Genuinely a masterpiece and I wish it was more respected and widely loved, because I don’t think a show has or will come close to how amazing this show was. I think season 4 did take a slight dip in quality but ended extremely strong. Just a very beautiful story. Can’t stress how much I love this show
The fact that Leon is willing to hang with someone as distant as Elliot instead of a girlfriend or what not really shows how good of a friend he is. Dang, respect bro.
