Dean had so many great Musicians on his shows; Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Lena Horne, Bill Basie, & on and on. I miss those days.
Dean Martin was pretty talented, but its hard to imagine a time during which you could simply turn on the TV and see someone like Duke Ellington perform, when musical genius like his was part of casual popular taste. How cool.
After seeing Buddy dance, I now know why he was he was chosen to be the original Scarecrow in "The wizard of Oz"; prior to Ray Bolgers having the part.
@@shawnmartin7872 I don't know how people think that a drunk could remember every song without missing a beat or every dance number and not mess up the routine. They believe the jokes about him drinking are real no matter how many times it has been debunked. As a former dancer now retired, I can honestly say it cannot be done drunk without messing up the show. He was a consummate performer and very professional.
The Buddy Epsen tap number was awesome. The whole show so classy.

And Ken ran the whole thing. He wrote Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime.
Wisa D'Orso was a beautiful and wonderful dancer. Miss her.
So nice to see Ebsen dancing again.
Gotta love Buddy Essen!

no one I knew my age in the 70's knew who Duke E was. I knew who he was because I was learning how to play Jazz piano.
dean had a lot of pull with a lot of people and i think people just wanted to be on TV back then,

Great post. You wouldn't have the show where Dean sings with Eddie Fisher, would you?

Buddy would have made the Scarecrow just that much better. Buddy would have been 40 in the movie.
I thought the punchline with Lorne Greene with Niagara Falls was going to be he was wearing adult diapers.
Adult diapers as we know them, didn't exist back then.
All these Greg Garrison compilations are transferred a beat slower than the originals; everyone sounds just a wee bit sloshed. smh
Speed the playback up to 1:25, it's much better.
I think you’re sloshed, smh.
Where is our Dino??
Dean was cool before cool existed. The coolest of the cool.
i try to make it through one...
Dancers look like they're holding their...
