@@polyinstrumentumar I believe they were referring to the fact that Shostakovich used saxophones in a few of his pieces? Especially with that well acclaimed Waltz of his.
I play both Sax and Clarinet (all of the clarinets, actually), and while saxophone is easier (no denying that simple fact), I think clarinet is better suited to most traditional forms of music. But saxophone is quite simply better suited for a modern musical environment if you want to play jazz. That being said, and despite being the less popular instrument, I say clarinet is better for me.
@@giganerd896I’ve always believed the sax sounds better. To me the clarinet just sounds more woody, while the saxophone is more brassy and I think would fit in better with the brass section.
some classical orchestra pieces' instrumentation have included saxophone for dozens and dozens of years. and it actually goes hard as FUCK!!!!! seriously, it's a shame that earlier classical composers never realized just how beautiful the saxophone's timbre can be at the right parts of an orchestra piece.
There are arrangements for saxophone, but they call for a different reed to reduce the blues intonation and make it sound a little bit closer to a clarinet's illicit love child with a bassoon.
Honestly, if the Saxophone had been an earlier invention, I think composers like Mozart might have welcomed it. There's always going to be some traditionalists who will reject certain instruments but I think there's definitely a few who would have been open-minded
Dang! I’ve been in bands all through school playing everything from a Rick James to show tunes to Hayden concertos and never realized there were no saxophones in orchestras🤯😂😂😂😂😂😂
Saxophones aren’t in orchestras (yet or probably never). I do know some schools has some saxophones in orchestra but this is rare and it is not common with all orchestras unfortunately.
An orchestra orchestra? Or do you mean a wind symphony? The latter would make sense. But there are very few orchestral works that have saxophone as a non featured instrument.
orchestra was actually invented in 1815 to defeat Adolphe Sax (born in 1814) thus preventing the invention of the saxophone. However, as we all know, it just barely failed and the saxophone was invented in 1846.
Yet bass trombones are, why? Because hehe big trombone go splat. Like for bass trombone enjoyers (or people who play them; me and like 5 others, you know who you are)
Bernell this was too good!!!! I love it!
Thank you! 🙏🏿
@@BernellJonesIIyoung man, that was STELLAR! ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT.
There needs to be a full rendition, potentially for all seasons.
I honestly just wanna know what notes he was playing cause it was so good
I was expecting a joke. I was not expecting the man to cook.
My thoughts exactly!
Schostakovich: Let him cook...
Yeah this brothers it!$$$ I thought I was good but I still got to work at it
ravel too i think
@@FranzLiszt0904 That’s vivaldi’s seasons man 😉
ITS SPRING BY VIVALDI NOT SHOSTAKOVICH

We all know it’s because saxophones and clarinets would fight over who’s the better single reed instrument.
there would be no fight because everyone knows its saxophones
@@hisbigfan5 i play the bass clarinet but I will admit that saxophones are slightly better

Obviously saxophone wins
A piccolo as a baton is crazy 😂
No way I didn’t notice this till you pointed it out 😭😭😭
Bro the moment I noticed I said "is that a piccolo?!"
Frrr
I thought it was a piccolo I was just seeing if anyone else thought it was a piccolo so I guess it’s a piccolo
I thought it was body of a wooden flute till i look closer and it was a piccolo
Are we ignoring the fact that he is conducting with a piccolo
Wow, jazzy saxophone over orchestral strings actually sounds really good and unique
listen to charlie parker with strings
Or Stan Getz "Focus"
Listen to cannonball Adderley or Charlie Parker with strings they kill it
Not particulary jazzy but listen to Rachmaninoffs symphonic dances first movement, it sounds so beautiful in it
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🎵🎵🎵🎵 You Killed That SH!T. Already selling this bootleg on the corner. Yeah Boyeee
😂😂ayy
Seems to me to illustrate why the sax SHOULD be in the classical orchestra.
The way you walk in the door 😂
Dude is an all-round wind instrument player.....nailed it, now we know why we are not part of the gang 😂😂😂
That was like adding rock salt to caramel-chocolate sweets. A blissful clash.
OK PURR THIS ARRANGEMENT IS FIREEEE
Oh, because then every classical tune becomes a Christmas song!
Your a band geek at heart and I love it! Don't ever let go of that wonder and 'foolishness'!!! ❤😂😂😂
I was expecting a joke. Holy crap did the man cook
Amazing!!! Sax is one of my favorite instruments to listen to!! More please!
leaked original arrangement of Spring
At first I listened for the laughs, but this is a legit gem. I'm gonna transcribe it.
Tenor sax.. i see you are a man of culture!
😎
My school orchestra makes saxophone to play trumpet part
In *LIGHT CALVARY OVERTURE*
I love how he was conducting with a piccolo
This suddenly went from majestic to ✨ Smooth ✨
You're playing beautifully 👍
Ok, saxophone just is what fun and joy sounds like. Classical feeling a bit stuffy? Saxophone instantly injects so much life
Well done, Lisa!
That jazz improv though
When it's a clarinet in a baroque piece 😂
some classical orchestra pieces' instrumentation have included saxophone for dozens and dozens of years. and it actually goes hard as FUCK!!!!! seriously, it's a shame that earlier classical composers never realized just how beautiful the saxophone's timbre can be at the right parts of an orchestra piece.
I would go to a 10-hour concert if this is what it was
Cook on Vaughn William's 6th would defo liven up the sax parts 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The fact that he was conducting with a piccolo
Omg didn't notice
Piccolo in his hand though
Shostakovitsch: hold my sax

Bro is the first guy to find an actual utility to piccolo, wp
Damn! I was not expecting that to be so good! 😮😊
Next he plays the love song on the sax. 😅
*Laughs in 20th century classical music*
LOL...but it fits! HAHAHA
As a bari sax in an orchestra, we have like 6 saxophones in the orchestra with 3 clarinets,4 flutes,2 trombones and 1 oboe
I love it!
The minor 3rd note (or aug 2nd, cmiiw) at the resolution really hit the spot for me. It’s cool how a single note can reinforce this feel so much
This is a bop
But it goes hard! 😂
that sounds amazing
The baton💀
I should note that the four seasons are only written for solo violin, strings, and continuo, no clarinets.
'Giant Steps'
Ravel smiles ❤❤
Classy “Stank Face” 🎶

Not him conducting with a piccolo 💀
It’s because they are loud and crispy, not quiet and flowy. That’s why I like the sax
this went about as I expected 😂
Love how he uses a clarinet to play a string piece 😂
Why’s the conductor using a piccolo
There’s also no clarinet in Vivaldi spring
I was expecting Careless Whisper
The Sheldon Energy is strong in this post. 😂
I like how he came with a menace face on
hey what mouthpiece do you use? it looks unique and your sound is amazing
Look up Strathon adjustatone. Moveable baffle. Can go from dark to bright. Or just right.
Está dirigiendo con el mejor instrumento, mi instrumento❤
Saxophones wish they were as cool as the clarinet family. 😎
Please stop spreading misinformation
I think it's the other way around
Dude that like the complete opposite of the truth
We can barely hear you guys, and when we do, it's when your out of tune
I have never wished that I played clarinet.
As a Bari sax, I can confirm
Dang! I’ve been in bands all through school playing everything from a Rick James to show tunes to Hayden concertos and never realized there were no saxophones in orchestras🤯😂😂😂😂😂😂
Rachmaninov Symphonic Dances 1 has a good sax solo
Now I want it
In sabre Dance, the orchestra use a saxophone
as a sax player this is awesome! lol
we steal the show
Bari sax for the win but my main and first instrument is clarinet
Try Symphony No. 9 in E minor I would love to hear how that sounds
It's a good remix
They are though I'm a saxophone in a orchestra?
I guessing you talking about school orchestras, which do have saxes, but professional orchestras don’t
Prokofiev wrote for sax
In real orchistras it’s mainly string instruments plus flures, oboes, and clarinets
Saxophones aren’t in orchestras (yet or probably never).
I do know some schools has some saxophones in orchestra but this is rare and it is not common with all orchestras unfortunately.

*look at my clock* Nah, not christmas yet
It sounds better with the sax
I want more
Is my dream if the saxophone one day is going to be in the orchestra
Because the sax steals the show every time, just ask the ska. Brilliant, love that sax.
It’s the piccolo baton for me💀💀
The real reason is because they werent invenred yet, and it would be weird to adjust. Plus the person who invented it wasnt very liked
orchestra was actually invented in 1815 to defeat Adolphe Sax (born in 1814) thus preventing the invention of the saxophone. However, as we all know, it just barely failed and the saxophone was invented in 1846.
They would be in the wind section
I'm choosing jazz over orchestra any day :D
More like why saxes should be in orchestras damn!
Cause he is most cool then 😂
lol reminiscent of high school band
Let our man cook
Really good!
Good lines. MORE
In Japan, there is an entire orchestra consisting only of saxophones. Each is tuned to mimic another instrument.
I played the same instrument. I tenor sax 😝😝😝
The song is know jazzy
ah, perfect
I'm sorry, is the reason in the room with us right now?🤨😂😂
Hey! I think the sax works😂
Yet bass trombones are, why? Because hehe big trombone go splat. Like for bass trombone enjoyers (or people who play them; me and like 5 others, you know who you are)
That's, sort of true...? Saxophones did come very late to the party
OK, try that with a paetzold tenor recorder.
