  • England forward Anthony Gordon has said the team will relish the extra pressure of knockout football as they aim to kickstart their lacklustre Euro 2024 campaign against Slovakia in Sunday’s last-16 clash.
Many fans have called for the 23-year-old to be included in England’s starting XI after three sluggish performances in attack during their Group C fixtures, which saw the ‘Three Lions’ top the table with five points.
Gordon made his major tournament debut coming on after 89 minutes in Tuesday’s final group match, a 0-0 draw with Slovenia.
Gareth Southgate’s side return to Gelsenkirchen for the match on Sunday, after beating Serbia there 1-0 in their opening game, their sole win of the tournament.
