Loving the inclusion of Sue's witty banter and excited to see how you get on. It's going to be tight. Also interested to hear a post race review of the predictions. Best of luck, Seville is a beautiful city.
fingers crossed i am able to join Tim for Seville ( my 89 yr old mother has also now fallen to the bug so i am trusting that she will be sturdier by Thurs - xxx )
Thanks. Think Vaporfly NEXT% v1 (I used them for my 2 previous marathons), Maurten gels 4 or 5 alternating CAF & normal ones. Probably Nike Trail Half Tights which are good to carry the gels and a vest I need to select.
You have had a quality block Tim! You have been banging out the session and putting in 110% Huge kudos for getting Guildford completed on city strides that is epic mate! Can't wait to see how you get on in Saville Kate I am sure it is going to be a quality result! Great to have Sue back! 😎🤘
Thanks. Maybe will have to do all the trail paths next. That Chantries run yesterday was tough. Have to admit had to walk up the steps on way back. Yeah training has gone about as well as it could have done I think. Just need to start feeling a bit "better" in the next few days.
Thank you Ben !! - Fingers crossed I am able to go and chum Tim - but great to know so many of you are all rooting for me . All your good wishes and wise words help enormously .

You’ve worked hard and stayed consistent, Tim. The hay is in the barn! As your coach says: Be patient, don’t be greedy, stay positive. I think it applies to the week before the race, too. Enjoy the day. Hope Sue’s mother gets better soon and that Sue can join you.
Thanks! Yeah the last week before a marathon is always "tough" as you can't do a lot and yet think about this that and the other. Sue's Mum is a bit better thanks so we are hoping that continues.
Thanks! The sub 3 thing is bit annoying in a way. Not as if never done one but in my head it sort of still feels like it is still some link to my younger faster self especially as many races now are PWs not PBs even if they actually go OK.
@@TimGrose try hard not to get caught up on sub 3:00. I’m at 3:03:08 and if I don’t ever get there I’m ok with it. I’m sure you’ve accomplished plenty. And your still going!!!

There are a few of my running friends in their 50s that haven't declined much if at all and indeed in one case are actually better than they were 20 years ago! I can't really fathom how they do it !
I think you have had a great training cycle, just refreshen this week and stay away from last minute injuries. You will have to watch out for heat in Seville. Plan your hydration (water and salt) and fueling well. My fingers are crossed for you Tim! Keep anxiety in check.
Congratulations! What a strong finish! You were like 20 seconds before me. I also managed to run a sub-3 this time! My corral was behind yours so in terms of the net time I was around 10 seconds faster 😂
Ah well done. The "race" concept does a get a bit lost in these mass start races. I was in the 2:45-3:00 pen but decided to start at the back of that anyway. All of a sudden, when they removed the dividing rope, a load of runners from behind surged past and I saw some with 3:15-3:30 standing alongside but I thought I would just start where I was anyway. As it was felt was into my running more or less normally once crossed the actual line and wanted to try and avoid going off too quick anyway. I had sort of resigned myself to doing a 3:01 or something but decided to give it one big push with about 5K or so to go and rather surprised myself by just about hanging on.
Am probably not the best to ask about nutrition as too fond of chocolate and stuff :) Going to be Maurten gels. Probably will take at least 4 this time as last marathon I had 3 and felt could have done with another late on.

Yeah I am getting a bit nervous and trying to convince myself that I feel OK even if I don’t! These marathons seem a good idea when you enter them months previously! Be good to say hello indeed.
Are you going to make a video Seville Marathon Prospects, Training of RUclipsrs featuring Tim Grose, Nick Bester and Ben Parkes like you've done previously? Would be a good watch especially as you're in it! And probably another vid about your race tactics, nutrition and race kit? The hay is in the barn Tim, wish you all best!
Good luck Tim. You deserve a sub 3 with all the work you put in. Fingers crossed you avoid any last minute injuries and any colds, flu, stomach bugs etc.

That sort of one is planned for tomorrow (Wednesday) - 2 Miles MP & some strides. I will try for a sub 3 and see how it goes. Can't do anything else really can I - well as long as I make it to the line OK.
It will probably be close but paces always feel easier on race-day- so like you said, got to try. You should do another RUclipsr training analysis. Nick Bester and Ben Parkes are running it as well, and then there' s some guy who has run 10000 streets:)
