I can trace my welsh ancestry to our immigration from wales to America in the early 1800s, however most of the welsh culture we had coming over was slowly wiped out by the dominant culture of where my family first settled, which was the culture of the ulster-scots of Appalachia
Nice to meet you Gavyn Roberts, a good Welsh name that! I was born and live in south Wales so if you need any help tracing possible information about your ancestors, I'll be glad to help :) 🏴
Great video, lads. :) I'd heard about the Irish Harp having inspired Guinness logo, but I'd never heard the full story behind the Saltire. Thanks for showing. :)
Hey guys, I have a question. When and how did Welsh Tartans become a thing? I'm Welsh, and I like kilts, but I always saw them and tartan as an artform mainly as a Scottish thing, so I was wondering how they might have spread to us.
We've done a few videos on Welsh tartans: ruclips.net/video/Gs-fN9Khx6g/видео.html ruclips.net/video/Z1a8SBNfOcg/видео.html ruclips.net/video/AJDqFG6Cfos/видео.html
Total respect for pronouncing Glyndwr correctly as most non Welsh pronounce it Glyndower. And yes I do have a Lloyd kilt and love wearing it. People are always interested, seeing me they some say "I didn't realise you were Scottish" and I point out that I am Welsh and I am wearing a Welsh tartan kilt. I find most 'kilt lifters' are maturer ladies.
Yup!!!! I've got ancestry spanning from as far south as southern France, as far east and eastern Denmark, as far north as northern Scotland, and as far west as western Ireland. Probably the over all majority is probably English, and Danish, but I got a decent amount of the rest also.

Hi, I want to wear a black watch kilt with an Argyll jacket to my graduation. Do you think a red tie with lovat green hose and red flashes work? Or should I wear black hose with green flashes?
personally I would go with bottle green hose and red flashes . Black hose would work as well but not very colourful for my taste .....but if you wanted to spend a bit of money black and green or black and red diced hose with red flashes would look sharp . Diced hose are expensive but really comfortable and will last a long long time if looked after .
I remember hearing another story about the Irish harp. The Harp was a symbol of Ireland's history and legends. The Harp was used by an ancient King that used the Harp to calm man and beast and stopped armies.
A quick google search led me to the following just now: The Flag of Scotland originated in 832 AD. The national flag of Denmark is called the Dannebrog. Legend has it that the Dannebrog fell from the sky in Estonia on 15 June 1219. It was officially recognized as the Welsh national flag in 1959

yeah, the Scottish association with the kilt is still going on, but it's not our blame if the Scottish folk invented that nice garment.
@@maximilianolimamoreira5002 fairly sure it didn't come from scotland though...
From what my brother and I have researched, our Welsh ancestors arrived in the Americas in the mid 1600s.
Can you do the symbols of the irish provinces, Ulster, Leinster, Munster and Connaught
Can you make the same video with the symbols of Cornwall, Brittany and Manx? Please
