Wow, what Gorgeous scenery! Kinda wish you had gone the other way too, so that we could see the view down that hill :))

Hi @WiltshireByways. Just got back into trail riding (July 2017) after a 15yr layoff.....and to think I thought it was bad back then! 🙄
I can’t believe the amount of lanes we have lost locally up here in Sheffield/Peaks area!!!
The Roych, Chapel Gate, Monsal Dale, Great Longstone, Hollinsclough etc to name just a few.....that’s without mentioning all the Byways/routes that now have restricted status’s! 😪 (I’ve never understood the Restricted Byway idea...it’s almost taking the piss.....just call it a Bridleway and have done!!!)
The trouble with Stanedge was that it has Car Parks at either end so easy access for our other user ‘friends’.
For that same kinda reasoning, how long before the likes of Houndkirk Moor, Buxton Old Road etc sadly go the same way????
There is a pattern to it as I see......basically they are all, in the majority, the longest and/or most technical lanes we had/have locally!
I was saving Stanedge for when Bamford Clough re-opens this Summer (currently under a TRO for exposed cable works) 🙄
Luckily we’ve got a good few lanes to use for now......but for how much longer?????
Keep the videos coming fella.....love how you put the ‘anti’s in their place 👍

Thank you for your kind words. Unfortunately Stanage Edge is now TRO to motor vehicles. Restricted byways allow us use by horse & cart, which generally aren't allowed on bridleways.

WiltshireByways granted with the ‘restricted’ user ability....but let’s face it....how many horse and cart combo’s do we see on a regular Sunday run out?......non in my experience 🤔.....and the majority that I know of locally you wouldn’t now be able to travel due to lack of use 😪

Yes, many are now overgrown through a lack of use. There are a few carriage drivers near me - one business that I often encounter on Fosse Way is Cotswolds Carriage Driving.

You're welcome Kev. It's a shame that small, affordable video cameras were not available to the likes of Brian and yourself 'back in the day'.

+WiltshireByways Indeed, would be rich now..not from "youv been framed" fees, but all the £ from women [99%] wailing/swearing banshees paying us NOT to upload them [their faces] onto youtube..during the ANTI attacks in the Yorkshire Dales etc...got sick of it ruining the rides, even in towns, so landed where i leave front door into kershope/keilder+1000+sq miles and a few100 people..I worry more about deer running out, than a rambLiar attack..ha ha ..oh dear,Ridgeway in 2weeks..earplugs ordered..keep on riding!!.

Northumbria is good riding. The Ridgeway has a seasonal TRO so is currently closed until April/May. There are plenty of other green roads nearby though.

No, a traffic regulation order (TRO) was made to prohibit use by all motorised vehicles.

Shame. This lane looks amazing. You was lucky to ride before it was closed
