All South Korean film and music is banned in North Korea with harsh penalties, they do sometimes get dvds etc somehow. They did have their own version of a girl group at the concert RV was at, kinda 90’s jpop style
Wendy is a vocal goddess! But I love that she's a total goofball. While her training just 2 years is impressive, there are idols with shorter training time in SM. Most notable, EXO Chen & Baekhyun and NCT Chenle who were all 1 year and under
Would definitely recommend checking their MVs and albums in the chronological order, that way you can experience how the growth of Red Velvet happened and you wouldn't get whiplashed between the concepts :)
You let me thinking with ur reasoning around 30min in. I agree with you, there is not that common to see an idol not being THAT grateful with the fans. Some of the people which are not in the kpop world, think that most of this asians groups... J-pop/rock, K-pop/rock, etc... Are robots. Mainly because you always see those "perfect people". The reality behind all that, is that on the western industry, there are TONS of groups/bands who are independant and pay for their own stuffs. They can go crazy popular or fail in the process. But they are in their own. There in Korea in this case, you have waaay to many agencies who collects tons of people to train, study and be true profesionals. It is quite complex and my english is quite rusty, sry if im not expresing myself that good.
When Seulgi's movements are not choreographed, she is, as shown, endearingly clumsy. The "bear" nickname/association was originally bestowed by f(x)'s Amber because of her youthful round teddybear-like face. Unfortunately, her lower-timbre voice knocks her out of consideration for the prized role of main vocalist, Korean executives and audiences exalt high notes above all else. Lower voices (like Seulgi, Joy, and Yeri) end up in the rap and/or dance lines. It takes years of exposure and demonstrated high quality for a lower female voice to overcome that bias. It was Mamamoo's Solar who found Wendy backstage; the fall occurred because a mobile staircase had been moved with no warning. And yes, Yeri could have ended up as part of aespa before being shunted over to RV; its worked out pretty well.
being a trainee for less than 2 years is not uncommon. It usually depends on how developed the skills are and/or the timing of the potential debut in the company.
I would disagree somewhat with the guide's classifications. I classify them strictly by the style of the beat, NOT MV or lyrical content. "Red" songs fall into two subcategories, summer bops (which were the examples used by the guide) and the bright-sounding songs with dark underpinnings (Russian Roulette, Peek-a-boo, RBB, Cosmic) mentioned in the member's own words. Velvet are the downtempo, chill, sophisticated songs. "Bad Boy, Automatic, Be Natural, Chill Kill." If you can imagine late-career Janet Jackson singing it, it's velvet. "Psycho" is one I would call a blend. Red title tracks outnumber velvet ones, but b-sides like "Kingdom Come" and "Milkshake" keep the velvet element very much in the mix.
Wendy the goofball is my fav Wendy. She is also my bias! Thanks for the reaction!
