Renso . . . about using charcoal . . . I studied with an artist who used soft charcoal for his initial drawing, then went over his soft charcoal drawing with hard charcoal. He pressed hard and then erased. The hard charcoal left behind enough of an image of his drawing that it was visible, but all the loose charcoal dust was gone.

Good job though both her eyes are inaccurate-this stands out clearly and you’ve made her look older than the photo. That being said I haven’t seen the finished result and if you take away the photo and just have this portrait on it’s own, it stands out as a very good painting removing us the ability to find flaws in comparison to the photo and allows our imagination more freedom to breathe

The only thing you do need to do to make an EXACT likeness is to make both eyes looking all the way to the left. You have one looking straight forward which exposes the bottom of her eye Too much space between her eye b@lol and the LOWER EYELID. She has heavy eyelids. You gave her almond eye lids she had more rounded on top and flatter on bottom eyelids Give her darker eyes and she will look picture realistic. Fabulous job! You are soo gifted. I’m so glad I found your channel. That painting is exquisite!!!!!
