Sansamp Bass DI was clearly aimed at the Ampeg tone many years ago and still stands up. But the Ampeg DI has a very open tone with far less background hiss. The Sansamp is perhaps now showing it’s age a bit. Ampeg for me I think
Interesting! Depends on your preference in Mids! One thing's for sure, the Ampeg has more utility with the separate drive channel, aux in, and headphone out- but adds size, weight, and price. Both are great preamps.
Sounds better with them both off. I hear hiss when engaged. I have several sans amp pedals. Love them all. Waiting for XB driver. Was told they'd be available by June originally. Then they bumped it to July..now saying by August which is about over. Ha. They'll have a new model by Sept probably. Lol
Hey Fran, thanks for the comment. Keeping this part really short was intentional, the drive sections on these two are very different and I didn't want to leave people with the impression that the Ampeg was way better in the drive department because of it. The scrambler on the SCR-DI is an overdrive effect with blend, ampeg makes a standalone version of this as a separate pedal as well. Where as the bass driver, this just changes the gain structure. Some have described it as "tube pusher" but recording DI I found it only adds muddiness to the tone so I left it out. Take care
Es tan grave tan sonoro el Ampeg q se me hace tedioso através de un auricular , el sansamp tiene un sonido más natural del bajo . Ojo q lo digo de la forma más didáctica posible .
Thanks for doing this with a recorded track with no bias.

It´d be interesting to compare it now with the sansamp bass di v2.
Definitivamente me quedo con el ampeg. Los graves tienen masa !
Yo uso el ampeg. Es menos ruidoso y tiene un aux para conectar mp3 o teléfono está excelente
The Ampeg is the clear winner, wow

great great video, congrats and thanks for that =)

with Ampeg SCR DI, I can monitor with headphones and that the sound comes out in the amplifier? I'm about to buy one of these!
Hey chuJah, correct: The XLR and 1/4" line outs are
still active when phones are connected.
@@tafonyreynolds Thanks!

what
cool demo, but I find quite short the drive comparison. May a second video with just the drive section, pretty please? :)

@@tafonyreynolds well, in that case, it makes a lot of sense. Well done, and thanks for your reply!
Is it possible to to get the ampeg to sound close to the sansamp by just scooping the mids?
100%, just takes more scooping
@@tafonyreynolds would that be the same case with the v2 of sansamp?
@@smiley.exe.5928 I've heard they're pretty similar but I've never tried a V2
Which would you recommend ? Ampeg or Sansamp?🤔
@@edwinhernandez9276 Ultimately I kept the Ampeg, it has more utility.
Ambos me gustan aunque compré el ampeg

Aguante Ampeg loco
Why i hear a chorus efect with ampeg?
Interesting, which part is that?
I hear it when I’m recording my bass with it too.
Not even close to my ears. Been playing Ampeg amps for 45 years and the SCR is a much better sounding box.
you have to put the behringer bass di21 on this comparative, you will be surprised!
Pro trick : watch series at kaldroStream. I've been using it for watching lots of of movies these days.
@Samir Ford definitely, I've been watching on kaldrostream for years myself =)
