- The nervous system is extremely complicated, but we should definitely know the basics, so let's dive in! It is comprised of two main divisions, the central nervous system, and the peripheral nervous system. The first of these is made up of the brain and spinal cord, and since the human brain is literally the most complicated known object in the universe, we will just cover some introductory concepts. For more information on the brain, check out the upcoming biopsychology course! Otherwise just watch this for a few tidbits.

I could ditch class and just listen to this guy.. Saves time
true man
Might consider...
My brain hurts just by learning about the brain :´(
same thing
Same thing😂
The brain is too complex too understand itself
Same heree
We say that all the time.
Just wanted to send a big thank you for making all of this content! I always wished I would have had the opportunity to take Anatomy and Physiology in college, but these videos help make up for that. Very excited to keep learning!
Kudos for deciding to learn on your own! If only everyone were so bold.
Thank you for giving big good 😊 complement... dear Santa.... bilskey..! ❤️Beby

how am i supposed to memorize all that
good question!
use your thalamus!
Through diligent work and attention.
Just keep watching different videos. Eventually it will start to stick. Take notes on the things that are hard to remember.
@@saraallen6678 oh....🕵️can u give me U R notes Allen Sara!🎅
your videos perfectly understood with just basic knowledge. really some of the best quality content i've seen on youtube and i've seen a lot of educational videos
I agree. My Instructor plunges in deep, hard, fast where you can hardly process or retain information.
I think this is one of the best videos on youtube about the CNS. Thanks!
Your method of teaching is amazing, thank you. To the point, foundation first, building up.
Thanks for these videos Professor Dave. I am a first year nursing student and these are helping me study for my midterm in a couple of days. I have been struggling a lot with anatomy and physiology but these videos seem to be helping me much more than my long lectures and hundreds of slides. Thanks and hopefully they help me raise my grades !
You're done now, right??
Does it get better? I'm a second year nursing student, it's proving to be rather, hard....
@@Sushmita_Rutzkeep going! it’s hard but will be worth it. I left nursing though and am studying midwifery instead.
@@mohamadsaab5993 thank you
Thank you for this! It's been a big help with the Human Anatomy stuff we've been doing in my science class.
Thank you for nurturing our knowledge
Im hyped for bio-psych lectures coming to this channel.
i'm gonna start writing those in a few weeks!
You and AK Lectures are my favorite science channels.
I think this is absolutely wonderful, particularly the part about motor homunculus! :)
Owen’s CC students:
21. Functions are sensory and motor
22. 12, 31
23. Cerebral hemispheres, diencephalon, brain stem, cerebellum
24. Gyri, sulci
25. Frontal, parietal, temporal, occipital, insula
26. Regulates body temperature, sleep cycles, and hunger/thirst
27. Midbrain, pons, medulla
28. Dura mater > Arachnoid mater > Pia mater
29. Cerebrospinal fluid
30. White matter
Hi Professor Dave! First, a big thank you for making all these amazing, elucidative videos that help me learn. But- please correct me if I'm wrong!- for the diagram where you showed different colored areas of the brain, I feel it's better that it is flipped horizontally to show the left hemisphere- Broca's and Wernike's areas reside there, rather than on the right hemisphere?
Great tutorial! Thanks. I am in massage therapy and this is very relevant for me!
he explains well and gives great information
Very good and very understood. Thanks a lot teacher.
Thanks for making such a nice video
Very clear and understandable
thanks a ton for this wonderful video, very knowledgeable.
Thank you!
Thank you..very helpful indeed.. will recommend..
My brain is learning it self yet It can’t understand itself
😂😂😂
Literally 😂
Thank you for this video.
Excellent explanation!
Great video !!!
Thank you for this!
That beat that drops at the end of each video is pure fire
Thanks prof Dave. Im in Uganda learning from your tremendous work. A big thanks bro
Thank you so much
Thank you.
Thank You for sharing Dr. Professor Dave explains ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
How could you explain so well in so little time!!!!?
I went through some of the comments and couldn't find a mention to this, so I'll make it mine. You're showing the right side of the brain. Broca's and Wernicke's areas were identified on the left side. I am not saying there aren't analogous regions on either side, just referring to the inaccuracy of calling out these areas on the right hemisphere, when they were identified in the left one. Otherwise, a nice lecture on the subject.
Great video! Thanks
Best video ever on brain
Thanks💓
Wow!! Amazing Tutorial!!
Fantastic 🎉
Great!
Please explain concept of action potential in neuron that is impulse conduction
i have a whole tutorial on that, go through the rest of my anatomy & physiology playlist
Very good it's counting
Thank
You should make a video on how the spine grows from birth to adult. It’s always confused me on how such a complicated geometric structure grow
I love your intro

nov 3, 2020 7:15 pm. i am a student nurse i can do this AAAAAAAAA can i do this?! AAAAA
Did you do it?
Correct my understanding if wrong: the size of your eyes, nose, tongue, lips and hands is directly proportional to the number of neurons controlling them? Your lips are larger than Kylie's because more number of neurons are controlling yours than Kylie's are?
thanks for this video #ProDAVE
Sir u explained in a very simple and effective way. Easy to understand and memorise. Warm regards from India. Thanks
Is there a video about action potential?
yes there is
Love your new look professor!
Quite handsome!
3:19 great for nevrogli / glial C.
Thanks from a UG psychology student..
And now I have a chance of passing my A&P exam this week.
Was watching some old vids and I've realized Professor Dave is cuter
🔥🔥🔥
It's interesting that my brain wanted to research itself.
i am happy of following ur vedeos, but the words u talk wrriten at the bottom covers the image.
If you can remember a dumb song you can remember things that's you need. You make time to remember what you want
I noticed that you say 'the left-brain right-brain personality type is a complete myth'
It's actually not. For example, the extent to which your language processing is lateralized to either hemisphere is known to correlate to higher prevalence of ADHD, dyslexia and personality disorders. And there's plenty more examples to illustrate that left-brain/right-brain dominance is related to behaviours that can be considered to be party of our personality.
If there weren’t so many big words this would be easy
0:58 Lemme guess, we figured out what each area of the brain does by mucking about with people's brains, didn't we?
I think a lot of that but also more recently MRI studies.
I love this video but the graphic at 6:24 is nightmare fuel hahaha
My head is hurting
The (English) subtitles are out of sync.
Hey vsauce Micheal here you're brain is working fine or is it? *insert low quality vsause theme here*
wow this is so difficult
Some how I already knew that the left side of my brain controls the right side of my body and the right side of my brain controls the left side of my body. Idk I can just feel it
So many new word 😩
I want to use my gustatory cortex to taste Professor Dave's milk. 👩🏼⚕️
Too much data
PW tells in more simple way
Please said understanding not understand please said telgu
Lol
Great video!
