The universe is 13 billion years old and earth is 4 billion years old and life has been on earth for millions of years. How lucky are we to be alive at the same time as Roger Federer?
I am! Lucky to have seen a Roger Federer, a Manny Pacquiao and an Efren Reyes in my lifetime excelling in their respective sports with so much passion and humility. One of the small things to be grateful for despite all the adversities we go through our lives. Their dedication to give others a simple moment of joy lift my heart, so yes, I am lucky in that sense.
Can we talk about Jim Courier for a second. I freaking love that guy. He was and still is such an amazing player, former won 2 number 1, won the French twice and AO twice as well. I remember seeing play, and the way he was striking the ball was different, more aggressive and faster than the others. And now as a journalist, he is just as good, always puts the players first, obviously understand what it is like to be out there and be at the top. So keep it up Jim, hope to meet you someday. Of course Fed as per usual amazing and he has Cilic number all day long....
I wish he would be 20 years old so i could watch him for another 15 years. He will do great things when his career is over though. No doubt about that.
How amazing is it when last year, both Rafa and Rog meet up before the finals for a charity match event Now this year both Cilic and Rog will be meeting at the finals after unexpectedly meeting with each other from a vacation ;)
"(...) Who cares, Because is just tennis (...)" And THIS is why he's the most brilliant and chivalrous player at the top and a pleasure really to observe!
Like someone said below, the only thing that's left to be said about Federer is that he is an alien. No human can be this good in all aspects of life. Best at pretty much everything. I mean he didn't throw his gear to the crowd as he usually does after a win, purely out of respect for Chung's injury. How aware is he of things like this? Just amazing! Pure class.
Such a great gentleman. An amazing sportsman Roger is. Really really enjoy the fact the way he showed it by not throwing his gear into the crowd or even celebrating his victory openly.
That answer about the women's final was out of this world. Knew quite a bit about both ladies. Gave them excellent advice. Described how special it was for him when he got his first major. Wow! Kudos to him courier for contributing to an excellent interview.
i'm a Djokoviç fan , and i really enjoyed this lovely interview and i hope Roger will make it to the 20 ! but just a question people : who are these people that dislike this video ? come on !! get out !!
Such a smooth guy, he knows what to say in the right moments, and that's what makes him so respectable in everyone's eyes! Looking forward for that 20th slam win #GOAT
This is the right attitude and sportsmanship of a real man. He praises his opponent , not himself. Very humbling. He was happy to be in the finals but he was not celebrating like cilic. Fair enough to feel his opponents misery. Hope he beat Cilic so people learn to humble themselves. Koodos Roger! Good luck.
ahhh... I'm a Fed fan, but it's easy to stay humble when you've won 19 GS, this is cilic's second chance to win only his second GS, of course he feel proud and has to celebrate, understandable.
Roger says playing with blisters is too much and he's played with them. He has only called the Trainer 4 times in his entire career. He's just being nice, this guy is total class class class.
5:23 I'm so jealous of Federer. He's the greatest of all time AND he has a wife who looks at him like that. I'll never achieve the former, but I still hope for the latter. Mirka and Roger
Simon Cowell check out his press conference after the goffin loss at the WTF 2017. He gave credit where it was due and was very very complimentary towards goffin. So am not sure what you are talking about.
Okay Fedtards, I am going to speak to both of you at the same time. First of all, there is no negativity in my comment, I just stated the obvious. Federer has never been graceful when defeated and he never gives any credit to his opponent and he always does that disgusting disrespectful no look half second handshake. He has always been a sore loser. Oh really? It took him nearly two decade to give some credit to his opponent instead of making up excuses like he always does.
I hope roger cud play some more years down the road.. it has been 15 years i have been watching and admiring RF and i cant imagine what tennis would b like without this man.. #RF20
What separates Roger from the Novak's and Rafa's is his versatility and ability to go to expose his opponents weakness. I feel tennis going to suffer irreparably when Federer is gone. All the young next gen players are dumb, just hit hard with no versatility or strategy. Chung has great defence, but zero tennis knowledge on court. This is why people obsess over Federer, he is keeping real tennis alive.
this just shows how well he takes care of his body and how durable he is. At age 36 and still playing at such a high level, you don't see that very often
Good decision from Hyung to retire, there was no chance against a federer in this form, and going through hell for 2 sets and risking a long recovery is not worth it
He always play according to players not with his same style in all matches and many think he is beatable but wins and from quarter finals he is aggressive according to his game plan reserving lots of his energy and variety in his matches that's y he is masterpiece and beautiful to watch and deadly dangerous to his opponents crowd favourite and king of tennis winning single handedly everything that's unbelievable my hero
Laura Gs This one was particularly longer than usual due to Chung's retirement. Also, Courier and Federer have great chemistry. It seems like they enjoy the interviews a lot.
He’s just so articulate and universally liked. The crowd stayed even though its late night just for the interview. And people questioned why Federer always gets primetime schedule.
Federer is going to go down in history as the greatest sportsman who ever live. Yeah greater than the greatest Ali, Pele, and Jordan. And if you don't see it or try to deny it, then you are either not well versed in sports or just an outright hater.
Roger is the personification of a champion and undoubtedly the greatest tennis player of all time, however i think Lionel Messi and Don Bradman are slightly more talented and successful at their respective sports
3:55 - whenever Federer uses the word "retire" I feel like my heart stops for a second. I do hope he keeps playing until 2020 at least, when he would have another shot for a singles gold medal at the summer olympics, one of the very few titles that eluded him so far. This interview just shows that he has class, once more.
So do I but I also hope that "baby Fed", Dimitrov, can become as good a tactician as Roger. He has a mirror like game and if he can get that part of his game together, then we won't miss Roger so much when he rides off into the sunset. I definitely remember when Roger had some of the same issues that Dimitrov has now, but hopefully, Grigor will get there. We need that, if only for contrast in the game. I love Novak, Rafa, Andy et al, but we need contrast and given the surfaces have been slowed down to favor baseliners, it would sad to have only one type of player: Sluggers, who depend on extreme physicality. This is the reason that Novak and Rafa are having problems now, and this will also hurt Chung in the long run. Roger's great advantage over the other top players is that he has no glaring weaknesses and he can hit any shot and he attacks. The adjustments he can make to his game is a HUGE advantage, because it allows him to have a few game plans to take a player out of their comfort zone. The sad part about that one is that, it is probably extremely difficult to make that kind of adjustment smoothly after you've become a great player. For example: Rafa is an excellent vollyer but he has to work so hard at it. So does Fed, but look at the wear and tear when you compare both Roger and Dimitrov with the rest of the field.
@James Harris: Good analysis. Yes, that´s what makes Federer such an exceptional player. His game is so rich that on court he has not only a plan A, but also plan B and C at hand. He´s more versatile than any other active player - well, Dimitrov can be compared, you said it.
@MrSatchelpack: That´s true, but because he has nothing to prove anymore to anyone (except to himself, maybe), I wonder what keeps him going. The few achievements he has not made yet may be part of his motivation, at least, like winning a gold medal at the olympics or surpassing Connors´ open era record of 109 won tournaments. Or perhaps he´s just trying to keep Rafa Nadal at distance speaking of grand slam titles. ;)
The Best part about this video 80 year old ROD LAVER who will go and sleep in a room inside and wake up and again watching another match and clapping cool life
What a total, undeniable class act! I predict that this great great man will win at least 22 Grand Slam majors. KARMA is with him. The FORCE is with him. All tennis fans around the world are not rooting against him. You GO, Roger Federer!
Sci Fi Guy, a crucial component of WINNING championship tennis is physical resiliency. Many champions like Roger Federer not only play every match, being ready to WIN, but they also show up match after match ready to PLAY. There is no waltzing into the finals, the most undefeated survivors in the battlefield deserves the best rewards. That why they all play the match, no matter if it's R1 or the final championship..
nicolas arias Injuries are part of the sport. When people buy tickets to see tennis matches, people are agreeing on the "terms and conditions" because they can end quickly when someone suddenly retires. It's as simple as that.
I would gladly give my money to watch the GOAT of tennis play the way he played, even for an hour. At the age of 36, people should be grateful to just see him play anyway.
Robert I Baratheon Yes and no. Some of those seats are 500, 400 Australian dollars.. It would be awesome to see Federer live but paying that much for less than 1 hour? I don't know about that.
nicolas arias Yeah kinda agree with that...audience looked confused. A match expected to be highly competitive turned out to be too easy, worse still Chung retired just like that.
This is SO true, but it's easier to slug it out and learn to be a backboard as opposed to learning to do it all. Furthermore, young kids do not see a great deal of variety in the game. They just see, for the most part, players who slug it out from the baseline. It's much more difficult to learn to do what Roger does, because it requires you to do something that is no longer mainstream. That's the one thing I hate about tennis racket technology. They should have limited it, the same way that they do with bats in baseball. If that had happened, we'd still have variety in tennis.
Anna B Some people are more emotional than others, and it's actually a great quality and resonates with ordinary people that someone that talented is just like ordinary people in that aspect. It's certainly the best way to rid oneself of stress. I've always found it interesting, this pretense, that boys don't cry. Growing up, every little boy I saw that fell and scraped his knee, ran home to momma crying. We guys could learn a lot from women on that one. There nothing seeing with crying. It is clear how much it meant to him, and you know he's genuine.
This is why Fed is my guy because he's world class with world class game and I love when haters like to write him off but way more so he does....Hahaha...It's your time to shine and have fun out that Rog. Got get it that of which you deserve!
If you were you wouldn't feel the need to defend it right or is that what straight people do going around saying " i'm straight" because thats the confident move to make?..Haha...lookatcha urself

I don’t understand why people are so salty about Federer getting through by the other player forfeiting. It’s not his fault and even he said that it’s a shame to go through like this. I bet he wanted a nice tough match in preparation for the final. I’m pretty over the people that always comment (Weak Era) as well. Like “ohh he only has that many grand slams cause he played in a weak era” hahahaha. I can’t believe how stupid people are. Not counting any of his grand slam victories, look how many finals, semis and quarters he’s made it to in grand slams. Yeah on the odd occasion he gets out early, but pretty much all the time he makes it pretty deep into the tournament. Most people don’t even get past the 2nd or 3rd round consistently. And He’s made it their 19 times and won, made it to the final, semi and quarter in slams heaps of times. Sure they aren’t victories but that’s still a solid effort getting that far. Not gunna lie Feds my fav I’ve been watching him for years but I like watching Nadal, Djokovic, Wawrinka, Murray, and heaps more players. People are just fucking fanboys over their one precious player and have a cry as soon as they get out and bash the greatest. And to all the players that forfeited, maybe try looking after your body better. I know that you can’t help injuries all the time and they just happen, but look at fed. He’s barely injured and one of the oldest players still killing it in the singles tour. Really showing the young ones haha. It’s survival of the fucking fittest out there, mentally and especially physically.
I think that has happened to almost any player, woman or man, who has hung in there long enough to have a decent career. People are probably saying that Chung won because Djokovic was obviously having injury problems. It's part of the sport, especially a sport whose season lasts all year long. If Fed wasn't that good, he wouldn't have lasted this long.
u need to understand the difference betwen the two of them.. this is cilic 3rd gs final, and roger won everything cant u guys let the guy alone. he is living the dream and he had a lot of hard moments trough his career with fake doping suspension.. and as i am from croatia i can tell u he is having hard time in his own country and he is not appreciated as much as he should be. we need to watch our best tennis player in the final of the grand slam through internet stream cause national tv does not transmit his matches at all. and cilic also won vs one of the best tennis players ever and he played great match. i think u should have respect for the guy that had really hard career but manage to prove his country and tennis world wrong. ofcourse you will support roger like the rest of the tennis world, but cilic desreve as much as roger does. I just hope for the good match without injuries this time (like in wimb final last year, altough roger would beat cilic if he was fit anyways) cheers ;)
he had played 4 sets..4 tough sets. here the matxh disn't even have any tense moments for fed. infact fed is unhappy he didn't get a good fight before the final
immmmm1 why doesnt cilic get much credit or respect in croatia? Hes a former grand slam winner, im surprised to hear he isnt highly regarded in his own country.
immmmm1 its sad he isn't given his due respect. I supported cilic even when he was accused of giving excuses after wimbledon even tjough i was rooting for federer. people are extremely mean sometimes moreso over the internet.
I think there is no more debate that Roger is the greatest athlete ever , his achievements is ahead of the likes of Ali,Jordan they couldnt maintain their level like Roger , Roger has infinity amount of records that will never be broken in a million years Allez goat get the 20th major and welcome back to your normal spot world number 1😊😊😊😊.
The problem is that it's very difficult to compare across sports. Based on results alone he's not even close to being the greatest athlete because there are guys out there who went years unbeaten.
Bahahahaha you're smoking some strong shit man, Cilic is gonna light Fed's ass on fire with his blistering serves and laser groundstrokes, no way for Federer to win!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
"GOAT" could not win a single grand slam for 5 years, did nothing and waited until other hard working guys run themselves into the ground. now sweeping up grand slams playing nobodies
I wish in the cut-throat professional sports world, players still feel a human in himself or herself like Mr GOOD,Federer. Congratulation to to Mr. JIM to bring out the HUMANE out of Federer as well. I watch and get inspiration so many times. Thank you
Cilic will need to play the match of his life in order to stand a chance against Federer. Chung could have been in perfect health and it wouldn't have made a difference with how Roger played in that semifinal.
The universe is 13 billion years old and earth is 4 billion years old and life has been on earth for millions of years.

Seeing an interview of Roger is one the nicest things you can watch on the Internet. GOAT in and outside the court.
I wish he would be 20 years old so i could watch him for another 15 years. He will do great things when his career is over though. No doubt about that.

Its so nice listening to him. Brilliant tennis player and a lovable person. What a guy!!!
We just love this guy.Hard to imagine tennis without him. A true legend.
There you go, it gonna be indeed tennis without Roger, sad...
Deffinitely the best sports man in history.
Such a great gentleman. An amazing sportsman Roger is. Really really enjoy the fact the way he showed it by not throwing his gear into the crowd or even celebrating his victory openly.

Federer, my favorite tennis player of all times.
FOAT ?
He’s just as classy and effortless in interviews as he is on court
he definitly diserves this 20th grand slam !
and far more
Love Jim's interviews.....
This guy is so humble. He's the Idol of tennis World. Goodluck Roger..
Humble??? When he's not losing
Always a class act - great ambassador for the sport
i'm a Djokoviç fan , and i really enjoyed this lovely interview and i hope Roger will make it to the 20 ! but just a question people : who are these people that dislike this video ? come on !! get out !!

Djokovic fans like you are getting rare.

why shouldnt cilic celebrate? he won 2 sets and lost another 2 playing a healthy player
Claudio cilic didnt lose another 2 wtf you on about.
wasn't it 2 sets apiece you fucking moron?
ahhh... I'm a Fed fan, but it's easy to stay humble when you've won 19 GS, this is cilic's second chance to win only his

Roger is basically friends with literally everyone and is also the most popular player with fans by FAR. He's truly from a different planet.
If Cilic stays strong mentally(which is going to be insanely difficult) the final can be a tough match, but I think Roger got this! The 20th!!
I almost like listening to Federer talk as watching him play.

beautifully put
must have been very hard to expose weakness of injured inexperienced number 58. probably used his mighty first serve % of 32 in the first set
Anna B hahaha
Anna B what about the berdych match? Berdych was on before that match. And Roger crushed him. Do you have a say on that, sir?
this just shows how well he takes care of his body and how durable he is. At age 36 and still playing at such a high level, you don't see that very often

This is why Fed is my guy because he's world class with world class game and I love when haters like to write him off but way more so he does....Hahaha...It's your time to shine and have fun out that Rog. Got get it that of which you deserve!
That's even tops the first name you used fool..Bahaha.
If you were you wouldn't feel the need to defend it right or is that what straight people do going around saying " i'm straight" because thats the confident move to make?..Haha...lookatcha urself
Nobody does it like Roger 🐐
You are great and such a wonderful gentle men! Respect!
Such a gentleman. I have a crush on him.
over my dead body. hahaha joking. i'm a guy so no i'm not in love just kind a crush with how he act and everything. a very nice guy. :)
the match was like bitcoin vs ripple.....start your bitcoin mining with very low investment....reinvest and make huge money....atleast 9 times in 2 years..hashflare.io/r/4226946D-0987654321
Me too. Who doesn't. Even my husband has a man crush happening lol
It's easy to be a gentleman when you win all the time. It's how you act when times are really tough that truly defines someone's character, I think.
Ross Viles yes well Roger always presents with class and respect in all situations.
Jezza Sezza Waiting to turn into a movie... LoL
luizmorto Hahaha! There’s half of the script right there.
This is the reason why I love Roger since 2006. What a gentleman S2
Im hoping for a repeat of Wimbledon in the final
It's boring wish :V
agreed
Ethan istanforCBE hated the way roger celebrated wimbledon pretty underwhelming
I love this guy "Roger Magnificent Federa".
Great interview . Great champion . Nice man , kind words for everyone. .
The difference between the reaction of Roger after beating Chung and Cilic after beating Nadal tells the difference between their sportsmanship.
u need to understand the difference betwen the two of them..
this is cilic 3rd gs final, and roger won everything
cant u guys let the guy alone. he is living the dream and he had a lot of hard moments trough his career with fake doping suspension..
and as i am from croatia i can tell u he is having hard time in his own country and he is not appreciated as much as he should be. we need to watch our best tennis player in the final of the grand slam through internet stream cause national tv does not transmit his matches at all.
and cilic also won vs one of the best tennis players ever and he played great match. i think u should have respect for the guy that had really hard career but manage to prove his country and tennis world wrong. ofcourse you will support roger like the rest of the tennis world, but cilic desreve as much as roger does. I just hope for the good match without injuries this time (like in wimb final last year, altough roger would beat cilic if he was fit anyways)
cheers ;)
he had played 4 sets..4 tough sets. here the matxh disn't even have any tense moments for fed. infact fed is unhappy he didn't get a good fight before the final
immmmm1 why doesnt cilic get much credit or respect in croatia? Hes a former grand slam winner, im surprised to hear he isnt highly regarded in his own country.
immmmm1 its sad he isn't given his due respect. I supported cilic even when he was accused of giving excuses after wimbledon even tjough i was rooting for federer. people are extremely mean sometimes moreso over the internet.
Federer was like “kid go home you’re drunk”
LMAO
This guy is the definition of GOAT
I wish I could see Roger lift his first grand slam for the first time too. Can you imagine being a Roger fan throughout his career all over again?
The great roger federer. Go get em mate. You will win your 20th grandslam title in melbourne park on rod laver arena...the fed express swiss master
Professional and elegant all the time
I think there is no more debate that Roger is the greatest athlete ever , his achievements is ahead of the likes of Ali,Jordan they couldnt maintain their level like Roger , Roger has infinity amount of records that will never be broken in a million years Allez goat get the 20th major and welcome back to your normal spot world number 1😊😊😊😊.
Keith Nicholls Just like u predicted Chung would right? 😂😂
"GOAT" could not win a single grand slam for 5 years, did nothing and waited until other hard working guys run themselves into the ground. now sweeping up grand slams playing nobodies
delusional Fedtard wow 😂😂😂
20GER
Classy words from Roger
Jim just can't get enough of Federer
Haha! Chung still isn’t back yet tho 2024 Australian Open
Greatest player of Tennis History...
KHAN BHAI Rod Laver and Ken Rosewall say hi.
Adolf Hitler I don't understand what you are talking..Say it again..
GOAT 🐐
An inspiration for me.. Thx roger =)
Chung is a great player and he has a bright future ahead. He says Djokoviç was his idol and he beat Djokoviç. He should’ve taken Federer as an idol
Seyhan Guneser Gocmen then he wud have lost in the Djokovic match
it's not easy make federer as our idol B-)
Everyone's idol is Federer but you can't copy him haha.
Chocolatier spot on.
D Johnson maybe but chung is legit!
Those blisters are just the start they’ll get tougher and he will be back to win! Nicely played.
RF u have magic in game nd words too
I am a simple tennis fan. I see Roger Federer, I click.
Sure one day will see all RF throphy in his musuem/house, good luck on Sunday Hero for 20th GS, hope next year U still play on AU
Jaya Intan
Roger is my champ and I always love to watch his game ... love you Roger
I wish in the cut-throat professional sports world, players still feel a human in himself or herself like Mr GOOD,Federer. Congratulation to to Mr. JIM to bring out the HUMANE out of Federer as well. I watch and get inspiration so many times. Thank you
Roger is such a gentleman and a great and funny guy
Roger is the best!!
Class all the way

Hhhhhaaaaaa🤣🤣🤣🤣
Class act
I'm really happy for my dear Roger I hope he win again australian open this year against Cilic
I'm SOOO HAPPY!
Cilic will need to play the match of his life in order to stand a chance against Federer. Chung could have been in perfect health and it wouldn't have made a difference with how Roger played in that semifinal.
