    The universe is 13 billion years old and earth is 4 billion years old and life has been on earth for millions of years.
    How lucky are we to be alive at the same time as Roger Federer?

      I am! Lucky to have seen a Roger Federer, a Manny Pacquiao and an Efren Reyes in my lifetime excelling in their respective sports with so much passion and humility. One of the small things to be grateful for despite all the adversities we go through our lives. Their dedication to give others a simple moment of joy lift my heart, so yes, I am lucky in that sense.

    Can we talk about Jim Courier for a second. I freaking love that guy. He was and still is such an amazing player, former won 2 number 1, won the French twice and AO twice as well. I remember seeing play, and the way he was striking the ball was different, more aggressive and faster than the others. And now as a journalist, he is just as good, always puts the players first, obviously understand what it is like to be out there and be at the top. So keep it up Jim, hope to meet you someday. Of course Fed as per usual amazing and he has Cilic number all day long....

    Like someone said below, the only thing that's left to be said about Federer is that he is an alien. No human can be this good in all aspects of life. Best at pretty much everything.
    I mean he didn't throw his gear to the crowd as he usually does after a win, purely out of respect for Chung's injury. How aware is he of things like this? Just amazing! Pure class.

Fair enough to feel his opponents misery. Hope he beat Cilic so people learn to humble themselves. Koodos Roger! Good luck.

      Okay Fedtards, I am going to speak to both of you at the same time. First of all, there is no negativity in my comment, I just stated the obvious. Federer has never been graceful when defeated and he never gives any credit to his opponent and he always does that disgusting disrespectful no look half second handshake. He has always been a sore loser. Oh really? It took him nearly two decade to give some credit to his opponent instead of making up excuses like he always does.

    What separates Roger from the Novak's and Rafa's is his versatility and ability to go to expose his opponents weakness. I feel tennis going to suffer irreparably when Federer is gone. All the young next gen players are dumb, just hit hard with no versatility or strategy. Chung has great defence, but zero tennis knowledge on court. This is why people obsess over Federer, he is keeping real tennis alive.

    3:55 - whenever Federer uses the word "retire" I feel like my heart stops for a second. I do hope he keeps playing until 2020 at least, when he would have another shot for a singles gold medal at the summer olympics, one of the very few titles that eluded him so far. This interview just shows that he has class, once more.

    • @MrSatchelpack
      @MrSatchelpack 7 лет назад

      That's asking a lot from his body. I'm sure he'll try but he's has nothing to prove anymore.

    • @JamesHarris-hl2bm
      @JamesHarris-hl2bm 7 лет назад

      So do I but I also hope that "baby Fed", Dimitrov, can become as good a tactician as Roger. He has a mirror like game and if he can get that part of his game together, then we won't miss Roger so much when he rides off into the sunset. I definitely remember when Roger had some of the same issues that Dimitrov has now, but hopefully, Grigor will get there. We need that, if only for contrast in the game. I love Novak, Rafa, Andy et al, but we need contrast and given the surfaces have been slowed down to favor baseliners, it would sad to have only one type of player: Sluggers, who depend on extreme physicality. This is the reason that Novak and Rafa are having problems now, and this will also hurt Chung in the long run. Roger's great advantage over the other top players is that he has no glaring weaknesses and he can hit any shot and he attacks. The adjustments he can make to his game is a HUGE advantage, because it allows him to have a few game plans to take a player out of their comfort zone. The sad part about that one is that, it is probably extremely difficult to make that kind of adjustment smoothly after you've become a great player. For example: Rafa is an excellent vollyer but he has to work so hard at it. So does Fed, but look at the wear and tear when you compare both Roger and Dimitrov with the rest of the field.

      @James Harris: Good analysis. Yes, that´s what makes Federer such an exceptional player. His game is so rich that on court he has not only a plan A, but also plan B and C at hand. He´s more versatile than any other active player - well, Dimitrov can be compared, you said it.

    • @Perebynis
      @Perebynis 7 лет назад +1

      @MrSatchelpack: That´s true, but because he has nothing to prove anymore to anyone (except to himself, maybe), I wonder what keeps him going. The few achievements he has not made yet may be part of his motivation, at least, like winning a gold medal at the olympics or surpassing Connors´ open era record of 109 won tournaments. Or perhaps he´s just trying to keep Rafa Nadal at distance speaking of grand slam titles. ;)

      Sci Fi Guy, a crucial component of WINNING championship tennis is physical resiliency. Many champions like Roger Federer not only play every match, being ready to WIN, but they also show up match after match ready to PLAY. There is no waltzing into the finals, the most undefeated survivors in the battlefield deserves the best rewards. That why they all play the match, no matter if it's R1 or the final championship..

    • @JamesHarris-hl2bm
      @JamesHarris-hl2bm 7 лет назад +1

      This is SO true, but it's easier to slug it out and learn to be a backboard as opposed to learning to do it all. Furthermore, young kids do not see a great deal of variety in the game. They just see, for the most part, players who slug it out from the baseline. It's much more difficult to learn to do what Roger does, because it requires you to do something that is no longer mainstream. That's the one thing I hate about tennis racket technology. They should have limited it, the same way that they do with bats in baseball. If that had happened, we'd still have variety in tennis.

      Anna B Some people are more emotional than others, and it's actually a great quality and resonates with ordinary people that someone that talented is just like ordinary people in that aspect. It's certainly the best way to rid oneself of stress. I've always found it interesting, this pretense, that boys don't cry. Growing up, every little boy I saw that fell and scraped his knee, ran home to momma crying. We guys could learn a lot from women on that one. There nothing seeing with crying. It is clear how much it meant to him, and you know he's genuine.

    I don’t understand why people are so salty about Federer getting through by the other player forfeiting. It’s not his fault and even he said that it’s a shame to go through like this. I bet he wanted a nice tough match in preparation for the final. I’m pretty over the people that always comment (Weak Era) as well. Like “ohh he only has that many grand slams cause he played in a weak era” hahahaha. I can’t believe how stupid people are. Not counting any of his grand slam victories, look how many finals, semis and quarters he’s made it to in grand slams. Yeah on the odd occasion he gets out early, but pretty much all the time he makes it pretty deep into the tournament. Most people don’t even get past the 2nd or 3rd round consistently. And He’s made it their 19 times and won, made it to the final, semi and quarter in slams heaps of times. Sure they aren’t victories but that’s still a solid effort getting that far. Not gunna lie Feds my fav I’ve been watching him for years but I like watching Nadal, Djokovic, Wawrinka, Murray, and heaps more players. People are just fucking fanboys over their one precious player and have a cry as soon as they get out and bash the greatest. And to all the players that forfeited, maybe try looking after your body better. I know that you can’t help injuries all the time and they just happen, but look at fed. He’s barely injured and one of the oldest players still killing it in the singles tour. Really showing the young ones haha. It’s survival of the fucking fittest out there, mentally and especially physically.

      I think that has happened to almost any player, woman or man, who has hung in there long enough to have a decent career. People are probably saying that Chung won because Djokovic was obviously having injury problems. It's part of the sport, especially a sport whose season lasts all year long. If Fed wasn't that good, he wouldn't have lasted this long.

    The difference between the reaction of Roger after beating Chung and Cilic after beating Nadal tells the difference between their sportsmanship.

    • @doooki99
      @doooki99 7 лет назад +10

      u need to understand the difference betwen the two of them..
      this is cilic 3rd gs final, and roger won everything
      cant u guys let the guy alone. he is living the dream and he had a lot of hard moments trough his career with fake doping suspension..
      and as i am from croatia i can tell u he is having hard time in his own country and he is not appreciated as much as he should be. we need to watch our best tennis player in the final of the grand slam through internet stream cause national tv does not transmit his matches at all.
      and cilic also won vs one of the best tennis players ever and he played great match. i think u should have respect for the guy that had really hard career but manage to prove his country and tennis world wrong. ofcourse you will support roger like the rest of the tennis world, but cilic desreve as much as roger does. I just hope for the good match without injuries this time (like in wimb final last year, altough roger would beat cilic if he was fit anyways)
      cheers ;)

    Cilic will need to play the match of his life in order to stand a chance against Federer. Chung could have been in perfect health and it wouldn't have made a difference with how Roger played in that semifinal.
