  • Easter Jeep Safari 2022 has concluded, but we're still here in Moab living the dream.
Today we completed Poison Spider. It wasn't on our radar initially, but after getting bitten by the Moab bug, we (o.k, maybe "I") was yearning for something a little more difficult.
So after talking to another full time family (that's what we're referred to since we travel full time) that happens to be Jeepers, we set out to complete Poison Spider Mesa.
This is a trail rated 6, and we definitely felt every single part of it.
We had an amazing time and really started to see the limitations of our current build. But that's what it's all about! Heading out with good people, having fun, and testing the limits of yourself mentally, and your Jeep physically. There was a lot of excitement on todays trail, and it's definitely one that we'll remember.
Huge thanks to Matt and Steve for taking us on a "big kid" trail!
    #poisonspidermesa #jeepgladiator
    Cheers!

We did PS in 2018 in a stock JLUR. We were running it alone so I avoided some of the harder lines when I could. Had no problems and it was it a very fun trail. The Wedge was so much fun we did it several times.... Hope to do it again soon lifted on 37’s...

Nice! Yeah PS has become one of my favorite trails just because of how many obstacles there are. Keeps you on your toes! Thanks for watching Mike.

I also noticed with my quad, a C Force 500 HO, that having the long wheelbase gives greater safety on slopes: the Gladiator, if raised and well protected, I think is preferable to the short steps of the three and five doors; HOWEVER, I watch your videos with the Glads as you face incredible obstacles, and to my Glad, I only show the paved roads of Tuscany😁🥰

    • @FarFromOrdinary
      @FarFromOrdinary  2 года назад +1

Totally agree, there is some added benefit with the longer wheel base, but you sure do have to raise it up quite a bit to compensate. And nothing wrong with keeping it on the pavement! Sometimes we miss that LOL.

Great Video. Really makes me lad I didn't get tricked into getting the Mojave. Not having the 4:1 T-Case, Front and Rear Lockers and Disconnecting sway bar would be annoying. I don't thing the reservoir shocks that come on the Mojave are worth the loss of lockers and swaybar. Just put some nice Falcon 3.3 Shocks on the Rubi and you are set.

@@FarFromOrdinary So, I'm never one to not admit that I got screwed this last week in that same exact spot. LOL. High centered, front and rear lockers engaged. 37" tires and a 1" lift. I guess a 2.5" lift is my next mod. I pulled my winch line, connected to the winch point down the hill and got out in a couple minutes.

@@thedirtlifesupreame yeah it's amazing how much time can change these trails (or even just a quick storm). LOL yeah at 3.5" now, it's really, really comfortable,. I'm starting to think 37's and a 3.5" lift is the sweet spot for the Gladiator.

I've been watching all week to see if you made it through 7 straight days wheeling in Moab :o) At the end of days 4 and 5 you looked really tired! I'd recommend 3 days max without a break, but there's loads of things to do on a day off. Visit Canyonlands or Arches parks, go rafting on the river, have a day at the vendor show or spectating on a trail.
Respect to you for doing Poison Spider in the Gladiator, with 1 locker! Glad you made it through.
I hope to be back in Moab in 2023, driving a rental jeep again :o)

I’ve got a rubicon and even with the automatic disconnect which only works in 4wd I find myself wanting the sway bar disconnected while on some things that don’t require 4wd. I know it’s redundant, but I put the JKS quick disconnects on my 2021 JLUR and couldn’t be happier. They are a great option and aren’t very expensive for the convenience they add. Great videos.

    • @ec-uploads

Great shots of the 4122 in action too. I'm in a pickle over that one and the Warfab Sheridan. I guess it doesn't matter if my chain holes are hit as I won't be towing anything. I use the receiver for a bike rack.
I did add the Rubicon steel rear bumper and the bed sliders that integrate with it. It did add weight of course but it gives the Mojave a bit of added protection out there.

@@ec-uploads Thanks! Really appreciate that. I've got a rather short attention span so the videos tend to reflect that.

@@ec-uploads Hah that's interesting, I just assumed that hitch skid was chinese made. Is that the same one on Amazon? The thing that stopped me from that, is that it just seems clunky, and yeah lacks a recovery point. But it's also a lot cheaper.
