      No one's posted anything about Xbox mods on MCC in like 10 months. I don't think I'm coming back to Xbox live anymore. As a console player, I appreciate what the community is doing, trying to get 343 and Microsoft's attention to bring Halo mods to Xbox. For the longest time I've only ever been able to watch others play mods that I find very interesting and ever since project Digsite was officially shown for the first time, I especially felt like i was missing out. Not everyone can afford a PC and it sucks. I'm hoping I can eventually experience this cut content for myself officially on Xbox if #BringHaloModsToXbox is successful

    Brave comrades of Halo, the time has come to rise against our oppressors! Today we show the hearts of true gamers! We have all given our blood for the games. We have answered her calls without question. We gave our youth, our hearts, our very souls for her protection ... as brothers, we fought side by side against the toxic rats. We crawled trough dirt and blood and sand to achieve our glorious victory ... Not for medals, or glory, but for what was right. We fought for revenge ... And when Call of Duty fell, how did the developers repay us? We returned not to rapturous welcome ... but to microtransactions and false promises. In the eyes of the developers, we were already tainted by the hatred. Torn from the arms of our loved ones, we found ourselves here... this place... this, this terrible place. Here we have languished, with no hope for release... No hope for justice. We have toiled in 343's mines until the flesh peeled from our bones... We have watched our comrades succumb to sickness and disease... We have been starved. We have been beaten. But we will not be broken! Today, we will send a message to the corrupt and arrogant developers.

    I only see two ways of this working out for Xbox Players. a separate area in MCC, or a separate installed version of MCC for mods specifically. But if I know how this stuff tends to go lately, no doubt it will create more problems than it solves, and I worry doing this will create more bug issues. And the other issue I see is maybe... extra memory storage required too.

    • @TheVengefulVadam
      @TheVengefulVadam  Год назад +6

      Thankfully, MCC gives you the option to install specific games rather than forcing you to install all of them. Also, they recently gave modders the option to create their own shared maps. This means that only one map file needs to have most of the mod assets in them, which greatly cuts down on map file sizes.

And the mods on pc are free, of they ever did mods for xbox mcc they will be sold. The old school halo community would never submit to being abused like that

    • @VenoMantis
      @VenoMantis Год назад +1

      @@halo091 I used to think the same with "just get a PC" but consoles are just so much easier in every aspect that I understand the want for one. PCs are often either price gouged prebuilts (esp. """gamer""" ones that prey on the unsuspecting consumer) or need manual building of specific, compatible parts (sometimes requiring weird normie-unfriendly things like flashing a BIOS update as well) and then either way you get into various OS-related headaches particular to not just the OS you go with but *specific revisions* of that OS. if you want help dealing with a bunch of these headaches and aren't PC savvy, you tend to pay out the ass for a specialist rather than cheaper/free warranty-backed Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo assistance. then there's drivers, variable controller compatibility, features like splitscreen randomly being cut for PC builds, etc. the open nature of a PC is just more than the typical consumer is asking for, they want something that works out of the box for at least a somewhat affordable price. I can't fault them for that.

    There should be an intergraded modded custom games browser for the no anticheat version of mcc. The unreleased/cut maps that were just released for halo ce, halo 2 and the halo online maps should be added into the official multiplayer rotation. It is a crime that the playable and finished ones are not in there right now. Also the backlog of halo ce/halo 2 mod tool maps can be added into the multiplayer rotation, along with forge made maps to add verity. This is just a start, these should be given 100%.

    General discussion on the matter has been painful with people of the belief that the world runs on magic and good will.
    in regards to the concept of paid server support is how much would need to be charged by the publisher/studio to warrant the income made from it being put exclusively to the use of improving the MCC. You're frankly looking at a pool of around a hundred potential buyers tops. Charge each of them $30-$60 a month and it'd only make them $3000-$6000 monthly.

    As soon as you let the user add and execute custom files to their console, it opens the door for possible exploits.

      yep this is the killer
      people paid for a locked down walled garden device that protects them from evil hackers and piracy? ok cool. ya dont get mods or anything not made by a pro studio. that's how it works and it takes dev efforts to port and vet stuff officially like skyrim/FO4, and so they charge. very limited selection. PC players will play for free what console players would need to pay for. IF they can even do the herculean efforts to get them to do some mod ports too.
      HOWEVER, your concerns over xbone hacking arent valid, you really need custom code to get a foothold. halo modding doesn't have the control you think it does... it's a well sandboxed model of mostly data points and some limited haloscript which is limited by the engine. There would have to be engine vulnerabilities and those haven't been discovered on our PC mcc modding tools.

    A few things I want to mention of things that I want to see to add on to what you said in this video. On top of bringing mods to Console players. Some of the things that need to still happen in my opinion is the following as built in features for MCC:
    1. Adding 3-4 player coop support Halo CE and 2 campaigns with dedicated server support.
    2. Adding a Custom Game Browser for Campaign and Halo 4 Spartan Ops Missions, just like Firefight missions with Join in Progress support.
    3. Spartan Ops needs Time, Medal and Scoring systems added in from the Halo 4 campaign.
    4. Add Campaign Matchmaking for all Halo Campaigns (with the 3-4 player support for CE and 2) and Spartan Ops, with Join in Progress for all games.
    5. Adding in PC Splitscreen also needs to happen, because of the HUD mods on PC, this would hopefully finally have the legacy CE competitive players move over to MCC, once 343 fixes the netcode with the gameplay side of things for CE and 2.
    6. Halo 2 Classic Customization needs to be a thing in the MCC. We still do not have anything for that game right now for the Spartans or Elites right now.

Same applies for players on these versions of the games. New mods don't get ported to the original PC versions I mentioned anymore. I support this campaign.

    Is it worth learning modeling and/or rigging in your opinion?
    There are so many aspects of too many games that I want to change, but ultimately, I am not in a tech field. I mod for fun, but it sure does take awhile to get the results you want when you're starting with limited knowledge about computers and programming.

      Absolutely, you just need to get into the mindset that you will be working for a while before you can finish or release anything, but you'll still be creating during the whole process.
      Before joining Digsite I only modded h2 and actually never used CE's tools. Now I've worked on nearly all of the ce weapons and vehicles included in digsite. Its never to late to learn something if you're willing to put in the time

    I have been spoiled by how games like Team Fortress work. Private server hosting with on-the-fly downloading of custom content is the perfect way of doing things. That game has survived so long for many reasons but, I don't think enough attention is given to the fact that the barrier for playing custom content is effectively non-existent. If we could get that (along with a more robust server browser) then I think MCC could stand for years and years longer than it already has.

    You bring up some very good points, Mr. Vadam! I'm an OG halo fan, I've been playing since Halo, since Combat Evolved in 2001 on Xbox. It really is sad for me to see all of these amazing custom experiences like what has been previously shared on Halo Custom Edition, and now all of the wonderful MCC modded content. Unfortunately, I have rarely had a powerful computer at the times when this sort of content seemed most relevant to me. And I've always been more of a console game than a PC gamer to begin with. It really does seem a bit unfair that only the PC crowd gets to enjoy much of this new content with virtually no way for the Xbox crowd to partake. I certainly think your ideas make a lot of sense and I hope to see them realized!

    Having mod support on Xbox would be so awesome! I’ve wanted I’ve for the longest time. One of the things that got me into Halo so much was Halo Custom Edition back before I had a Xbox. I got a Xbox for Halo 2’s launch because of my experiences with Halo on PC. I have a friend that loves Halo too but only has a Xbox and would love to be able to play the Cursed Halo mod. Whenever we play Halo together on Xbox, we’re pretty much always playing Halo: Combat Evolved. #BringHaloModsToXbox

    Having mods available for console would be great for the community, yes some mods might be harder to include on the xbox and might not work but it would've been great if they have some options on console too. I know how it feels to not have access to mods. I do now but back in 05-06 there were some cool mods for halo 2 that people with a modded xbox could try out. I really wished to be among one of those back in the day, i was lucky enough to join one custom game with modded in game content that i could play too. I wasn't able to mod or download mods for ce until 2007 when i bought my first laptop.

    There's one other thing I am a bit on a crusade on to get brought to MCC: lobbying up in matchmaking.
    This absolutely MUST come back, just make it so that it joints up to the shared matchmaking game list of all lobbied players. Doesn't matter how limited that is. Also make it so you can que for 1v1, 2v2, 4v4, firefight, btb, etc. simultaneously. Make it a full on checklist and turn off modes when the player count exceeds it. I think this is even more important than mods, because it builds community.
    Also turning CE and 2 into 4 player and bringing in crossplay would be much beloved, though not easy I realize.
    My last desired feature is to see a mic setting with team chat and proximity enemy chat, like the good ol' days. Preferably set to default.
    I think the server rental system is the perfect answer to getting a revenue stream to MCC. It's fair. It doesn't have the stench of microtransactions. I've always been a bit worried about Halo MCC not having any regular revenue stream, this is a great solution.
