As someone who is not Jewish but rather is Christian, I have so much respect and admiration towards the great Rabbi Sacks. I just find him to be such an inspiring leader and so esteemed as a scholar. The world needs more people like him. Sadly our world has a lot of nonsense within it.

Not only is Maimonides today universally accepted as a halachic authority, but even the sages of his time eventually accepted his teachings as such, when Rabeinu Yonah (Jonah ben Abraham Gerundi) publicly declared that the holy book-burnings of 1242 in France were a direct result of burning Maimonides’s books several years earlier and went on to write his most famous work; Shaarei Teshuvah.

Burning the books is the major sin, and crime. No book is bad. All of them is our collective mind and memory.
