The reason Pillars of Eternity 1 and DOS 2 are simply better than deadfire and DOS 1 is they had Chris Avellone writing. Instead of just more more generic adventure crap. All my favorites including fallout 2 have him in common. Also I'm pretty sure BG3 probably deserves the top spot now the full release is out.
@@comnenus9745 The UI was better, otherwise no it simply wasn't. I love pirates but deadfire was just a fantasy RPG with a shallow pirate themed paint of coat.
@@blakearius Yeah, pirates don't have anything to do with it. POE 2 is better than the first game for the very reasons that make New Vegas so good. I am not saying that POE 2 is as good as New Vegas, but I am saying that the interaction and role playing opportunities that you have with the factions of the deadfire combined with how the character classes help to tell the story of the world of POE 2 make it a great game for the same reasons that New Vegas is a great game. I heavily disagree, the armor system is one of the most bullshit and poorly designed systems ever, it heavily punishes having a varied party and iron fists you into going all in on either physical or magical damage. The loot system also sucked as basically every new zone on each map required a new tier of gear but the game never rewarded you with enough new gear to outfit you party, which would always leave you severely under geared which if you're unlucky enough could make certain encounters nearly impossible. All these things combined with the challenge of the game leads to what is a very frustrating combat experience that drags on as you spend hours trying to win a fight with your massively loosing hand.
