Paco was very shy, and very humble, wasn't aware of how good it was and in the beginning he felt really strange playing with the North Americans, he did not understand why they wanted to play with him, did not understand the new country, new sound, new language, so made a huge effort to avoid the fears and ended adapted, of course, as he was a master, but never was completly relaxed. Not at his best in that period. To notice his incredible level you need to listen him playing flamenco, alone or with other flamencos.
Just watching de Lucia's finger gives me shivers down my spine
I have a love of Spanish/flamenco styled music . Beautiful improvisation for sure. Awesome reaction and analysis for Paco....brilliant
I saw both of the 3 Guitars Tours at the Tower in Philly.
John and Al (and Steve Morse) were great.
Paco was in a different universe.
Thanks so much for reacting to my request. Your reaction was everything that I anticipated! IMO, you should watch this song played by Paco, Al and John McLaughlin “Live at Modena 1996”. I promise that it will be worth your time. I also agree with another responder that you should react to Al DiMeola as a member of the ultra talented group Return To Forever and Al’s Solo stuff eg: Race With The Devil on Spanish Highway. I guarantee that you will amazed all over again.😊❤
Those three together are amazing.
So much respect between them. What a conversation! I love the underlying melody, and they bring it alive in such a stunning way.
Al DiMeola has many albums to explore, but a special one, called The Rite of Strings, has music created with Jean Luc Ponty and Stanley Clark. Look for the live version of Renaissance from that album.
I saw the rite of strings show during the summer jazz series in NYC's Central Park.
I saw Al, John, and Paco perform, in New Orleans. Steve Morse opened, and later joined the three, for a few songs. Passion, Fire, Grace, and a little Georgia asphalt, to raise the temperature even higher.
I just watched this clip yesterday! I hadn't watched-listened to Paco for quite a while and just happened to get the urge to enjoy this phenomenal player! He really knew how to make music!!!!!!
Amazing performance. It's a master class by two virtuosos playing off of each other in the moment at the highest level. That's art and it's beautiful. Bravo.
They used to tour in a trio with John McLaughlin. McLaughlin (Mahavishnu Orch.) and Di Meola (Return To Forever) more known initially for their electric guitar playing.
Two of my favorites.
I recommend a live performance of the Spanish singer Diana Navarro " CUPLERIAS GALA DE LOS PREMIOS CERES " She is a very versatile singer singing different styles of music with a very personal voice full of melismas she always transmits when she sings. Greetings from Spain
I saw the lineup with john Mclaughlin first row center at Lincoln Center in NYC.What a show.
funny thing when i got this album when it was released back when.I found it in the jazz section.
now ya should check out al when he was in RETURN TO FOREVER... amazing.
That´s right!! 🙂I have been listening to the live from San Franscico a lot, their greatest vinyl!! Both are guitar Gods!! RIP Paco! Duente...
If you liked this, you should react to "Friday Night in San Francisco" by Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin, and Paco de Lucía. It's one of my favorite albums to listen to to relax. Great reaction, thank you!
For more Paco I highly recommend Entre dos Aguas (live 1976). He was much younger there but just as talented
I watched these two along with John McLaughlin in Davies Symphony Hall San Francisco the weekend the live recording Friday Night in San Francisco was recorded. Words are hard to describe how amazing this concert was.
I saw that tour in Brighton, England. Incredibly, there were many empty seats!
they connect do well because they played a lot together. also with John McLaughlin as a trio. incroyable! 😊😊
Can you please react to Paco di Lucia 'Tico-Tico'? It's one of my favorites.
Paco is GOD of guitar and melody. 50 empty places behind him in guitar world
I hope you have heart Friday Night in San Francisco :-) It's so incredible how they feed of each other. Sooo goood.
well done sir!
Right up your alley huh JONE😊
PHENOMENAL !!!
please react to more from paco de lucia
That older dude is very skilled 😅
Sad he was born in Shouthern Spain and not in US because in that case no one on Earth would discuss ever that he is best guitar player of all times. Well, thinking twice I am wrong because if he was best guitar player of all times was because he was born in Southern Spain, actually ;)
You think?😂
@@johannesmarg6903 yeah is the best
Like your reaction. This is actually Rio Ancho not Entra dos Aguas.. Nevertheless cool to see them both performing.
PACO DE LUCÍA & JIMI HENDRIX, The Best of all time.
Era el número 1. Decía que cuando acababa le dolían los dedos muuucho. Pero se sentía muy bien
This is a song from one of Al's early albums that also features Paco.

Here is an interview with Al DiMeola talking about meeting and playing with Paco the first time they met.

if you listen to the studio version, it would be impossible to try and copy it. even for them thus the improv.
Paco's "minera" is beyond comprehension. The most difficult thing I have heard
Honestly, this is probably the worst I've ever heard Paco - he is really struggling with the improvisation, and yet, his picado is still perfect, and better than everybody before or since.
