I love this guy. Just watched the other clip of him. He seems to be a filmmaker who has elegantly managed to balance both art and economics, which is rare. I hope you have the long interview with him to deploy one day. Would love to listen to him for two hours. ALSO, I would love to see, if the Film Courage folks are comfortable with it, a Behind-The-Scenes interview with the interviewer. Would love to hear how the channel started, how they find folks to interview, how they've continued to make these during the pandemic, how much research they do into each interviewee, whether they have a list of questions or if they freestyle, do they take notes during the interview in order to followup later? How much of a backlog of interviews do they have waiting in the wings to drip-feed us ravenous movie fans? That sort of thing. Thanks.
I'm listening to a guy on Stage 32 who talks about the importance of getting your distribution set up before ever shooting a single frame. And the importance of casting in order to make bank. Very insightful.
One quick question: If you're no one (like me) how do you get talent? How would you approach actors that are of a certain tier? I've seen indie directors, very rarely, include big name stars in their shorts and such, and I always wonder: is that through connections, or is there a way you can pitch to the actors directly? Thanks! This is such valuable information,by the way, I feel like I'm in a MasterClass! Thank you!
Advice from Former President of Directors Guild: Go in the depth of your heart, somewhere alone so you can think seriously. Write down a long list of conditions wherein you and your work would flourish. (You can write down on the other side of the paper what conditions you don’t want). Also write down what you would like to give in return. Then say thank you to the Universe. You will be shocked how fast this materializes right in front of you. You meet people through causes and conditions. Ask and you shall receive. Best wishes!
Fantastic channel and very helpful series! Thanks a bunch for that! Here's my question: What about getting a couple of investors for a very well incorporated product placement in the movie and then just publish the movie yourself on let's say youtube or a less disastrously "progressive" platform that has way less reach but doesn't censor like the communist chinese party. I hope you get my point. Worth the shot or not so because too high of a risk because uncertain numbers of potential views and therefor no return/profit?
I've been contemplating and because I have a movie concept and treatment, I decided to include it as part of my minimum valuable product. I want to have the treatment copyright protected unless I already have a deal with trust worthy professionals for the movie. My goal is big screen prior to streaming. Well known movie stars would be great. Having well known would generate good revenue. The concept and story is flexible enough to support negotiations to bring in other/different characters and avenues for the movie as well.
Talent doesn't always mean well-known celebrities. It means actor is who are known in their niche. For instance, Ethan Hawke it's not an a-lister, he is no George Clooney, but he makes about five or six indie films a year.
get out there and compete coward. I was born into communism and it sucked. you can make a movie for $1000 with your iPhone so go do it for the art but no one wants to work with a crap story and those who do expect to at least get pay out of it.

I see Jeff I click! Dude continuously droppin’ GEMS 💎
Can’t forget J Horton, of course!
Usually that's how I want it, Long story short, get to the point and explain it in a easy way so it will become memorable in my head.
Have you ever consulted with a distributor before making a movie? Anything you can share about that process?
This comment needs to be “pinned” at the top
Great advice. I could listen to this guy all day.
Fantastic conversation, important stuff! Thanks to you and Jeff for this!
Thanks for watching! Our conversation with Jeff was all business talk. A lot more value to come. Please keep an eye out.

Appreciate his candid view on the business side and the links! I'll be in touch with him soon.
What are the service companies that you can hire that provide comps & forecasting for your film?
A real insight and very helpful! 👍
Now I have to figure out on which level we like to make/sell our movie 🤔😉

Thanks for watching Cisco.
How do I get this man to view a script that I wrote?
Thanks!
You want to make profitable movie. Don’t make a shitty film.
i don't want to watch a movie with actors who are known celebrities. for dramas. comedies might not matter as much.

i wish capitalism would end so we wouldn’t have to make movies to make money but to simply create great art
