Dr. Nkrumah's letter to Busia telling him he was a 'complete failure in Politics' after 1972 Coup

  • In 1969, the Progress Party led by K.A Busia won the parliamentary elections with 105 of the 140 seats. This paved the way for him to become the next Prime Minister. Busia continued with NLC's anti-Nkrumaist stance and adopted a liberalised economic system. There was a mass deportation of half a million Nigerian citizens from Ghana, and a 44 percent devaluation of the cedi in 1971, which met with a lot of resistance from the public.
While he was in Britain for a medical check-up, the army under Colonel Ignatius Kutu Acheampong overthrew his government on 13 January 1972. Busia remained in exile in England and returned to Oxford University, where he died from a heart attack in August 1978. This video discusses a letter Dr. KWAME NKRUMAH wrote to BUSIA on his coup.

They fear Kwame Nkrumah and knew that he would one day return to lead Ghana 🇬🇭 again so they chased and overthrew him second time in Guinea by POISONING HIM . Even though he is dead but his legacy will keep putting fears on them till thy kingdom comes

Will this country ever move forward with this crop of people they are the same gang that surfaces each time with different colours. There is no end to their evil deeds. Lord help us..

The coup occurred on February 24, 1966 by army officers: Colonel E. K. Kotoka, Major A. A. Afrifa, Lieutenant General (retired) J. A. Ankrah, and police Inspector General J. W. K. - thanks

    Interesting,
But Busia was overthrown on 13 January 1972.
Busia and his fellow elites were partners in crime and colluded with the Western Colonialists to effect the overthrow of Nkrumah in February 1966.

Don't tell us fake stories and leave Dr K. A Bussia to rest in his grave . Nkrumah's own selfish interest, propaganda over his own boss Dr JB Danquah and jailed him to die painfully at Nsawam prisons , Nkrumah was a murderer and dictator, Mr. Know all who didn't have a vice president he spent our tax payers money and millions of ponds sterling British left us for development to unite Africa and lead Ghana into economic hardships , is Africa united? A big failure in Ghana politics was Nkrumah.

@sampsonsarbine3311 are you sure! Remember the demise of CPP can partly be attributed to the Busia administration. Are you aware that Busia banned everything Nkrumah in the country? Including contesting for election in 1969

I've read that letter once years ago. However, I will read it again.
The work to liberate and unify the continent is on going in the political party Osageyefo called for in his Handbook of Revolutionary Warfare; The All-African People's Revolutionary Party (page 56). As an Nkrumahist I am proud to be in that revolutionary number.

An intellectual is not merely someone who has a higher degree, but someone who also contributes to philosiophical or social discourse. I dont think Bawumia understands the word, which is not unexpected. It is a long stretch to call Ofori Atta or Akuffo Addo or Bawumia intellectuals.

Please read the letter J.B.Danquah trying to get him to release him from Nsawam. Overall, I have a favorable view of Nkrumah, but he was a wicked man in most ways. He was opportunistic and didn’t care whom he used to achieve his objectives.

I strongly disagree with you, as a former president and the only president who had the country at heart he had to do whatever it took to develop the country. The downfall of Ghana is by the United party and their associates.
And they are still derailing the economy of Ghana by Nana Addo. At least ex-president Kouffour did well because he believes in some of the ideologies of Nkrumah.
