DIY toms made out of springform cake pans

I made these 2 toms out of cheap springform pans and regular drum heads & rims.
I think they sound pretty nice for how shallow and simple they are! I should’ve tuned the 12” tom a bit better for the video but its too late for that lol

Love your DIY projects. One thing I like about these and your snare is how small they are. Been thinking about trying to assemble a mini drum setup and these videos are giving me good ideas.

0:43 Question: what if you used a threaded bolt with no head and two wing nuts, one on either side of the rim? Would that make tuning the drum possible?
At least with the rims and wing nuts i’m using that wouldn’t be possible! The wing nut doesnt have enough space to turn around. But maybe with differently shaped rims and wing nuts that would be possible, and then you wouldnt need a drum key or a screwdriver to tune the drum!
@@LAURISDIYCHANNELTV what about using small washers to lift the wing nuts up a little? That may help with having enough clearance to turn the wing nut
@@feelingdandie Yup that could work! But depending on the rims used, the wing nuts might get in the way of playing!
Oh shit i realised even in my drums the wing nuts do have the space to turn around! So your idea is definitely doable!
