Microcar dragrace! What a lovely idea! This is the kind of things I come here for! :D I hope some of these tiny cars will have their own separate reviews, it'd be a lot of fun! And I love the Messerschmitt, too!
That Mochet looks like the kind of cyclecar the French were noted for before World War II. What is interesting to me is that the Italians did not buy the Isetta from Iso in sufficient numbers but the Germans, once it was a BMW, took it up with some enthusiasm. I have actually seen one (much smaller than the BMW 600 in the video) with a matching camper trailer, which must have been something to see when the family crossed the Alps for holidays! Iso gave up on the microcar, instead building high-performance Italian-American hybrids like the fantastic Iso Grifo.
This is one of the best things I've seen in a while, I really love these videos from torch and it would have been fun to see them on the street trying to go to a drive through.
The light weight and single front facing door made the Isetta subject to a very unique "problem". To guys with a little bit of muscle can easily lift up the "car" and put it with the front directly up against a wall, so you can't open the door to get in. My grandfather and his brother used to do that with the Isetta of neighbor they didn't really like :D
MORRIS MINOR ... The TINY CAR from the 1970s. A friend from church had one and took me for a spin. Moving along at a peppy 25mph one felt like one was going 50mph!! Boxy in appearance yet very low in height with 2 doors and hatchback. Ran on 12-13" wheels powered by motorcycle engine. Made in England. Fun to drive and VERY EASY on petrol!
I never had an opportunity to try the KR200, but from many reviews on the net, it seems to be pretty nimble, with low center of gravity, and also pretty fast for what it is - 105 km/h from an enclosed car with tiny 200 cc engine is nothing to be sneered at
I would image highway speeds in a messerschmitt would be about as terrifying as sitting perched on top of a Saturn V rocket. Even at 50 km/h I'd be terrified in that adorable metal death trap.
I think the German aircraft companies, like Messerschmidt, were banned by Occupation authorities from making airplanes, right after the War, unless they were for one of the occupying powers. Furthermore, the German aircraft plants in the Soviet Zone were basically looted by the "Reds." Naturally, the German aircraft companies that were still functioning had to make something, and micro cars seemed like a good way to capitalize their experience with lightweight construction.
The truth is, companies that made aviation for the Axis were barred from building aircraft after the war. That's why Messerschmitt, Heinkel, and Dornier were building scooters and microcars into the 60s.
Some US states let you register a microcar as a "quadricycle". I wonder if you could import a Mitsuoka K-4 where you live. It might dodge the car import laws (and if not it'll be legal in a few years).
LOL, not to long ago I watch a RUclips vid by channel FailRace where they were racing Peels (in GTA5, I believe) around a track, and here you are. :) Get those micros out to the track! HAhahahaha...
Mochet- If it's not there, it can't break. Modern German luxury sedans- It's all there, and it all can break, and can be horrifically expensive to fix
It's impressive how in this lineup, the BMW 600/Isetta looks massive.
Almost a Limo. 😘👌🤣😂😂
Love how enthusiastic you are about these tiny cars. Yes, that’s what was needed at the time and these cars were clever solutions.
Just make a 3 hour long video of you driving every microcar
Oh man you'd have LOVED the Gogomobil. Was there one at the museum?
Mazda 360 is the best of the cars shown, but the Messerschmitt is also nice.
Agree with the Mazda. Also has the best IMSA prototype cars,#55 & #77!

That Mazda 360 is a beautiful piece of design

Vespa 400 is my choice here i love that small coupe
You should have reviewed the Isetta, Reliant Robin, Reliant van, Peel Trident, and P50.

1:30 Hans? Hans! I found a parking spot for the puma

love micros!!! definitely one of the more obscure genres of car
Best ever. You could probably do another 90 minutes or so just on these great little cars.
How about a look at the Crosley? Made from 39-54 in the USA and they were small. They even made a Jeep lookalike. The farm-o-road.
These cars are so cool! I’m not going to lie!
I'm not going to lie, either!
The Messerschmitt is nice and all, but I think I'll take that Mazda 360 instead thank you very much.
Jason. Loving your style. I wish the BBC had lined you up as part of the new crew... you, Chris Harris and Jodie Kidd
He needs to do more microcar videos, this is awesome!
I hope this time your episodes are here to stay.

The bit where Torch was flailing his arms out both sides of the KR200 reminds me of those gifs where ppl edit stick arms onto parrots. I lol'd
Review the SMZ microcar, Amphicar, Trabant, Lada Niva, Riva, Zhugili, Moskvich, GAZ, ZAZ, UAZ, ZiL, etc.

Of all places, the greatest museum in the world is in Nashville, along with a Parthenon.

My Dad was born in Sweden in 1955. He remembers Messerschmitts driving around well into the 60's.
When ever I see the KR200, I think of "Pywackett Barchetta" from Daytona USA on the Dreamcast.
Amazing stuff!
you gotta love the old microcars, I do
Just google “villain from 5th Element”.
Zorg. Google not necessary
What tv show was that beau guy in....he looks familiar
Pimp My Ride Hopefully ive not just been wooshed
@@carson8915 oh shit you are right
I guess he owns these cars I'm pretty sure he owns Galpin autos.
That Messerschmidt is a rolling goby fish suit!
this vid makes me wish i'd visited the bruce weiner microcar museum before it closed
Isn’t that the guy from the real early seasons of pimp my ride?
*Meanwhille in forza Horizon 4*
Oh Jason, you're the fucking best !
but that is not the smallest street legal car in the world, that honor belongs to the LG62 LYF
Peel P45!
@@rollingtroll it's the same

3:36 Te Deum. Really?
You forgot the most important part of the Mochet: earlier models had bicycle pedals instead of an engine. That's not a joke.
Maszda 360,has potential for today,
bit unfair the KR200 is four times the engine capacity of the Peel P50
if he drives my little rat rod he will give up hahaha
One time I raced my KR200 against a Isetta 300.... I blew his door off!
Messerschmitt ist ein exzellenter Name für Flugzeuge und Autos.
Me, and my Peel P50 that can go 150mph on the quarter mile: *PATHETIC*
Safety third. After Science and rocket saw
I think the best example of a British micro car is the bond minicar.
the mini was the one microcar to rule them all
If it cuts faster than I want a rocket saw
Take that to the moon and back
But I always look to Torch for a history lesson.
A car so small that you can actually wear it.
surprised views aren't higher
Gulf Bronco?!
You got any other small cars
My dad had a messerschmit
Meanwhile in the US you had the micro muscle of the Crosley...
IM NOT YELLING ITS OPEN HEADERS
There's what, 1/2 a horsepower between all of them?
That last one i would have named the Tadpole 😉
I'd drive the Mazda 360, it's like a tinier, rr, underpowered miata.
I guess if you wanted to do an engine swap you'd go to harbor freight .
Lol except LifeOG just did that with a Mazda Protege
@@numberq1134 It couldnt get out of first
My echo weed walkers motor would be a great upgrade.
LS swap the Messerschmitt
tamer ursavas the engine is as big as the car
Found ip lo ip bio in ki lo po
Were the invalid cars given to cripples for them to drive themselves to the gas chamber?
Can someone please explain what Torch means when he said "the points were bad...we sanded down the points."?
@Rick Delair
Woah. Now that is a response.
Thank you for the information!
