I'm an electrician, 75% of my work is from fixing/ finishing shit that pos gc's screw up or bailout on... not all of us are bad people, Andrew. Goodluck and I hope you find some good tradesmen, we do exist. Cheers bro.
IDK about the US but that's why in Europe it's popular to get a civilian to renovate your room/bathroom/house. Usually immigrants from Eastern Europe who might not necessarily have a degree in the field but have tons of experience from simply having to do the job back home and make a living. Quite similar to how stand-up comedy works, ironically. You watch how somebody else does it; you learn the techniques, and you do it yourself, hopefully becoming better the more you do it. Anyway, ofc the reason that's preferred by people is because it's WAAAY cheaper, and they don't have to deal with paperwork, firms, etc. But the problem you're talking about will always be potentially happening, because it depends on the integrity of the person. That's why you ask around before getting someone to work on your whatever, and even then - you never know.
I live in Nebraska. A. I would and have renovated my house myself. B. If i didnt want to i would call someone to put floors in on monday and have the floors in by Saturday. Why would you have to fill out paperwork to renovate the inside of your own property LMFAO 😂😂😂😂. When i filled out the permit for my fence i drew a square wrote house inside the square then drew a dotted line for where i was putting my fence and wrote fence and paid 30 bucks. only took like 4 days to locate lines. put it up with my nephews it was a great time. Check out a non city sometime.
I run a project management firm in NYC, we specialize in apartment renovations in condos and co-ops throughout manhattan. Everything he is saying is 100% accurate. Get me in touch with Schultz and I will fix this situation in 1 month’s time
The only way round it is to sort of be the project manager yourself. In other words don’t give the job to one contractor. Break the job up so that you get different tradesmen to do different parts of the jobs. For example if you are having your bathroom redone then get a tiler, plasterer, plumber, electrician etc. It will end up costing a lot more that way but you can’t really put a price on the grief and time you save. Contractors delay completing the job, start a job elsewhere at the same time they are doing your work, steal materials especially those that are surplus and should be returned for a refund. Pulling workers from the job and putting them elsewhere. Where you may have had 5 people working at the start you could end up with only one or two coming in. It’s a nightmare.
Its a little rich coming from Andrew criticizing contractors for it being over priced. My guy for an hour and a half special live you charge on average 150 per ticket. Like your funny/good but like apples and oranges my guy.
Contractors see Andrew’s haircut and work slowly out of fear
Nah they see his a hair, and say “nobody dumb enough for a haircut like that, let’s work slower, we work by the hour anyway, he won’t know” 😅
It’s the hair cut + high water pants

Andrew’s haircut is when your friend tries to give you a fade for the first time and just shaved the bottom half of ur head. No blend at all
