The mom is really terrible. Jadoo is only third grade, She might be the oldest child in the family but that doesn't mean she can take the favoritism. The mom also represent for (most) Asian parent's mindset in raising child, that older sister/brother have to condescend to their younger sibling. I really don't like this mindset at all, even up till now a lot of Asian parent still have that thought. And this episode really show it, at 5:17 the mom said "you're older than them, so you should let them have more" when feed them pizza and fried chicken with nothing left for Jadoo, bought 2 brand new clothe for her youngest child while Jadoo only get an old shirt got a big hole in it with the smell of washing powder, scold, blame and hit Jadoo when it's obviously not her fault. That's why Jadoo didn't feel being loved or respect. Not only that, there are a lot of episode show how terrible the mom is, especially toward to Jadoo (for example: the episode when Jadoo go to grandma house with her aunt, or the episode when the mom got sick and Jadoo find 38 year old wild ginseng).
idk if its asain thing but my mom also act like that, she tells me fat so i don't need to eat tasty food my siblings can eat it because i am the oldest. i have to collect little by little money to buy some new clothes for myself. i have to save money to eat somthing good and when i keep it left over to eat tommorrow she gives it to my siblings without asking me, am i just being greedy? ik i am older then them but i am still a kid like them. its my first time in this earth too, so why do i have to be the oldest who have to give my things to them.

It is veeery veeery bad to treat children like this. Emotional trauma and inferiority complex would arise. Parents should, always, treat children equally. Happy that I was the only child. I would have committed suicide if I grew up like this (not about bad food, bad clothes, but about the discrimination).
