First Toyota we got in the US was the Toyopet Crown and Land Cruiser in 1957. The Crown bombed because it was too small and underpowered. They halted car sales until the Corona debuted in 1965 and the Crown came back until 1973.
I love US import laws.., it gives folks from other countries first shot at getting these grey market vehicles without worrying about a huge demand coming from the US.
Another note, the 160 Aristo also had similar climate control because the 170 platform was a similar chassis. You may be able to use the 160 Aristo single din climate control module out of GS300/Aristos without Navigation.
I'd like to do something about that Nav system and might swap it out for the non-nav climate control unit from the same generation of Crown. I'm also going to try to swap the cruise control from a GS into this...eventually...
Is it allowed to drive a Right Steering vehicle in the US? We have alot of these vehicles imported to iraq ..we literally adore them ..to the extent that we transfere it from right to left steering ..the price for this vehicle now is ranging between 14,000 up to 18,000 American Dollars depending on the specs.
I feel like I drove past this car on St Margaret's Bay road in the fall. I wasn't in my Chaser at the time or I'd have tried to stop him to check it out.
Bender Bending Rodriguez inline 6 is where the cylinders are in just one straight line in the engine . And v6 is shorter because it’s 3 on each side in a v configuration.
mburi kiama I bet he meant what the difference in terms of reliability, power, how much boost does they hold or how it easy to convert to manual, etc. But when someone asks the difference between inline six vs V6 and answer is “one of them is inline and other is V-shaped” - it is not the answer. Is kinda stupid.
Hello, I saw a 2001 Crown Athlete V the other day with the white strip portion of the taillights at the top rather than the bottom. Is this aftermarket??
I'm looking at buying a vx version of these. Can anyone tell me what I should be looking for to make sure it's a genuine VX. The one I'm looking appears to have everything but the leather interior and it's on Cusco coilovers. Thanks
I bet the 1JZ wouldn't pass emissions, and the Crowns wouldn't have a large enough margin after spending the money to ship them overseas. These weren't cheap cars to make. Toyota also made like 3 different cars off each Crown platform to keep down R&D costs
@@interstate366 gs used to be Toyota Aristo/long version of Toyota Mark X which is more of a speedy touring sedan, first two generations LS is the closest thing to a crown Americans may buy(both of them are export versions of Toyota Crown Majesta-based Celsior)
How much do these cost to get into the U.S.? Toyoya is the best in my opinion and this is their flagship, big brother to the LS430 I owned and still adore.

Wow that interior looks recent. I hate these US import laws. I'd love one of these.
These models have been maintain with maybe little change is just beautiful and I love it so much
Japanese are small in size but does only mighty things and amazing.
I love everything about this car

Well, you may buy one of those in 2027

I have a manual one, the oil leak is probably from the rear of the cam covers. 1j vvti is a great engine.. lots of upgrades available !
This is one my favorite cars
Before the big stupid dumb Lexus type grille....
You can't almost hear the motor sound! Amazing 👌
1JZ-FSE and 2JZ-FSE are the direct injection model engines, shame that model didn't come with the 5speed auto, would be great daily car
You want an Auto?
@@robjeeves1486 yes defiantly from commuting to work etc, manual gets boring in traffic really fast
U look unfortunate
Yes for some applications auto is good and better
Maybe so, but 4speed automatic transmission isn't that bad
Ohhhh silly. The direct injection 2j is a 2JZ-FSE! The F and G are for injection types iirc.

Love the Crowns. Gorgeous car. Big thumbs up.
In iraq we worship this car ..the best car for ever ..price up to 17th$ in 2020😎
I'm in Halifax, I'll have to keep an eye out for this machine :)

very nice car with nice velour interior ambience
they are well built badass cars but expensive to maintain .. parts are hard to find that too at hefty price tag
Might as well buy an old Lexus if those are your concerns
i have this kind of car with 2jz-fse it is very amazing and power ful i like it so much
Is it fast?
hey are these twin or single turbo?
Beautiful crown!
.best crown of all time

Me too isn't na it's GDI

mburi kiama Hey, what is the difference between a grey-colored car and the yellow one? I suppose you should it know. Answer gently please.
There were crowns without touch screen?
Love these cars! Going to pickup my x100 Chaser from Vancouver in a few weeks!
All i can say is enjoy the 1jz life bro!
The two exhaust tips look best on the Crown. A single big one looks a little inappropriate.
this is one of the beatuiful cars that i would like to own, despite Rhd.

I've since find out it is a real VX not all of them come with a leather interior.
This is a lexus ls400 with a smaller engine.
That will be an excellent car to own.
Bruh this is my dream 😭😭
Sorry to bother you, just wondering what the yellow car behind is, with the rails
Looks like a nissan cube open deck
2000-2001 Toyota bB Open Deck
Scion xB in the states.
I would like to see a majesta
Forgot to mention that power steering fluid is low
vx front bumper?
Love 1jz and 2jz
My sister had a Corona. Spanish for Crown.
Very nice car I love it
not too much oil leak is also an oil leaking dont fool your buyers okay
I have always had a soft spot for the Crown. I don't know for the life of me why Toyota decided this wouldn't be a success in the Americas.
