    Clarkson's biggest legacy is that there are six of his assistant coaches now coaching AFL teams. All the premiership coaches since Hawthorn's 3peat were at Hawthorn.

      No it’ll be the flags, in 50 years nobody will remember who Alistair Clarkson‘s protégés are.. but the flags are carved in stone forever..
      All of malthouses protégé’s came and went without a flag but that doesn’t take anything away from his record. People just remember the flags!

    What a legend. The story from Jordan Lewis was gold. I think it was for the premiership teams. He got the players to write something positive about each other, compiled the comments into books, which he paid for, dedicated to each player, and gave them as gifts.

      Well said and I agree, although I think the herd thinking in this case is crucifying Kennet for moving Clarkson on. None of us average supporters, although very passionate, know what goes on behind closed doors. My original comment remains and I'm certain you don't disagree. Mitch has great raps on him and as far as I have heard, the young blokes are right behind him. I'm also sad to see Clarko move on...

    This man is the goat. The only problem I've ever had with Clarko is why he continues to play O'Meara as the second mid when at the age of 20, James Worpel proved he's better than O'Meara. Personally I think O'Meara has been the biggest reason behind our downfall. (bar Ben Stratton and James Frawley's performances in 2020)

    Bramble comes from Andy Collins, not Sam. Nash into the midfield after the bye was a hail marry when Box Hill had no mids to chose from. Newcombe = every single club wanted him, not just Sam. Since the bye Clarkson took over the backline and changed team defence because he didn't like what the team were doing. The whole narrative that our good form is Sam's influence is a narrative pushed by Kennett apologists. it is bizarre.

    • @patrickbateman6885
      @patrickbateman6885 3 года назад +1

      Mate Mitchell was the one who wanted Newcombe as he's the one who took a punt on Newcombe to play for Box Hill. Mitchell still decided to play Nash in the midfield even when James Cousins got dropped back to Box Hill. Andy Collins definitely deserves credit, but Mitchell does too and he's the one responsible for Hawthorn's youngsters development.

    • @karmic-fleas
      @karmic-fleas 3 года назад

      @@patrickbateman6885 It is such a pile of rubbish. Clarkson is the one who decided to recruit and resign Nash, Moore, CJ, Day, Bramble, DGB, Newcombe, Jeka, etc etc etc... Sam can take credit NEXT year for the mistakes and the wins

    • @karmic-fleas
      @karmic-fleas 3 года назад

      Unless Sam scouted Newcombe from obscurity and dragged him to Box Hill, then Sam really is not the Newcombe mastermind. Sam is not the one laying 14 tackles on debut.

    • @karmic-fleas
