Here's a curious anomaly: I use a Chromebook, which has a system setting to disable the microphone, regardless of site permissions. I checked this out when I noticed that a little green light (in the notifications area to indicate that Chrome is using the microphone) is always on now. Since that shouldn't be, I first tried individually removing all webpage microphone permission, and then the system wide setting to disable the mic, and that green light persists. The mystery is whether this is a glitch (light stuck on) or, alternatively, Chrome (which probably listens regardless of the setting 😲 is doing just that.
I could restart (universal bug fix) but I am not ready to accept a system update awaiting installation. And in fact, that could be why it is stuck on!, could get me to restart to fix it, and thus apply the update that google so values.
