I remember the first time I heard slug I was on the bus on my way to school (first week of 9th grade). Him and his music has remained a staple in my life and has been the tune in my head over a lot of phases of my life (losing my dad, sobriety, breakup, love, and everything inbetween) I’m so grateful he never put his music on the back burner although it’d be easy to do has he’s a husband and father. Thank you slug. I turn 30 next year and look forward to the new memories I’ll make listening to your songs ❤️
Man, I can relate to your comment so much. I'm a few years older but the rest I can definitely feel. Just celebrated 20 years of sobriety and Atmosphere has been with me for the whole ride. I lost my dad in 2014 and "yesterday" from life gives you 🍋 connects with me even more now. It's like no matter what life throws at you, Atmosphere has a song for you.

@@370JDUB ik it seems a little aimless, but that’s the point. Imo the communication and milestones that slug is sharing is an honest and endearing way to end the project. It’s like he’s saying, “goodbye for now. I’m sorry this project isn’t as profound as people want. But that’s life man.” Like an old friend checking in. I’m not dying for an artist to bring the most adrenaline inducing topics and I implore you to look for the subtle (ironic) profundity in the project. It’s such a miracle that we’re all still alive today and travel is our way of viewing all the life that has made it this far

Damn man. I met slug when i was 17 in Nelson BC, Canada. He was on his 7s Travels tour. Me and my friends were too young to get into the club so we waited outside in the winter and caught slug and his crew coming out to their tour van. He freestyled with me and my friends and then gave us all signes cds after we helped them haul their equipment back into the van. The climate of hip hop sure has changed since then and I still rap to this day. 20 years strong. This song takes me back. It gives me that old nostalgic feeling of being young and fixated on being a better lyricist. I needed this today, Slug.
I'm from just around nelson, great town. That's so awesome, I went to see them in Spokane and tried to meet slug and ant but to many people rushed them so I missed out. Maybe next time lol
@elicosta7981 Yeah, the atmosphere is way bigger than they were when I met him in 2004. He just had a tour van and it was in a small club. Now he's got the full-on tour bus and he plays way bigger venues. I can imagine that everyone swarms him now. I saw him twice since 2004, once in Edmonton and another time in Calgary. Slug definitely draws in a bigger crowd these days.

Since everyone is sharing their own first listening to slug and atmosphere stories, I'll share mine.
It was 2009, I was deployed to Iraq. I went through a hip-hop discovery during that time period. I would download music while I was away on missions and listen to what I downloaded when I returned.
I discovered Common, Nas, and some others.
I went onto a forum for good conscious hip-hop and someone recommended Atmosphere.
That night I downloaded their popular songs on iTunes and when I returned from a mission the next day, I gave them a listened
Holy shit, I was blown away. The Lucy Ford EP's was my shit during that period. Been a fan ever since.

Early 2000 or 2001. I was always looking for new rappers to listen to. Seen Slug on a few features or various artist albums (pre mixtapes). It wasnt untill I heard God's Bathroom Floor a few years later, havent looked away since. We're getting old. And these men are still traveling forever.
