  • I got tired of renting a trailer each time I want to take the bike out to the trails so I finally got myself a Port-A-Chopper (www.portachopper.com/). It was delivered by UPS in five boxes (60-70 lbs each)
After the initial assembly I was setting up the ideal tongue weight by moving the wheel-stop and checking the weight with a bathroom scale.
The tongue weight needs to be between 10-15% of the combined trailer (275 lbs) + motorcycle (240 lbs) weight; in my case somewhere between 55 and 80 lbs.
I ended up moving the wheel-stop all the way back to achieve this weight.
I also installed an old 1 7/8 hitch ball in a 11/16 x 5 1/4 in lag eye bolt in a fence post so I can safely load an unload the trailer without having to drive the car into the back yard.

Thanks for the upload, how has your experience with the trailer been so far, any problems?
