A new documentary examines how to fix it. See it for FREE - HealthReformNow.ca
Other countries have figured out how to run universal health care systems with better access to health care and shorter wait times.
Canada can follow the lead of health systems in Europe and Australia to stop patient suffering and get our broken system back on track.

Well done, thank you. Now let's all unite to get it done and or started right across Canada. The sooner the better for all concerned.

It appears they don't want anymore. Comments on this thing well. The trick is if the provincial governments that control the health care system would pay doctors what they deserve and stop fighting with them every damn time they get a chance and fund the hospitals. The way they're supposed to. They've been given millions and millions of dollars, but they're not doing it because most of them are conservative and they think oh, this is not right. Why should you get free health care? That's their attitude. Just like the US wants to defund health care and defund everything else.Every conservative government down there does the same thing you want to get rid of the problem?Get rid of the conservative governments provincial ones anyway

So many Canadians care more about their idea of what the health care system should look like more than they do about actual patient outcomes.

I've had 5 surgeries over 4 years here in Alberta. Should have been 2 but mistakes kept happening. I compare my experience to others in the US that went through what I did. If I wrote a book about what I went through, I guarantee I would end it with the line: "I wish I was American."

Great documentary. What we’re doing now isn’t working - there needs to be change. Where is all the money really going?

With all the money the government spends they need to pay for the training required for new doctors.
This would allow anyone to challenge the MCATs and not just the ones currently who can afford to attend medical school.
In Nova Scotia they are doing this for about 230 paramedic positions.
    Free schooling !!!

It’s incredible! We are proud to be Canadians but our health system is worst than Cuba ! We have the médecin but don’t have doctors 😂

    Cmon people.
Can’t compare Canada to any country because our population is so small and the country so large.
But if you really really want to.
Go to our closest neighbour to the south. Do we pay $30k for a hospital stay to give birth.
Not have a nurse visit on multiple locations to see how mom and baby(s) are. Then get 3 months of unpaid maternity leave.

What about Australia? Large landmass, a small population, universal care, and better results than Canada. They use many of the policies in this video.

Wasteful testing, so dense breasts require ultrasounds yet one has to go through the mammogram first, then a month later a letter for the ultrasound is sent yet again when the mammogram is inconclusive. Just do the ultrasound and stop wasteful testing. This isn't the only test. Dr. didn't want to do a PSA test but it saved the life of two friends and only costs 35 dollars. paid the 35 dollars and had the test done, Keeping employed people unemployed due to wait lists is unethical and cruel, all the provinces are lacking the desire to do out of province surgeries as they all have patients waiting. We are close to Quebec and pay to use the private care. Injured and then waited 9 months to hear from dr. Went to Quebec, then private physio and injury healed properly in 3 months. Back to normal activities. Administration is only too happy to spend money on things for the office but not on patients.

activity based funding? Isn't that just fee-for-service? I thought we were all supposed to hate fee-for-service, or is that just for family doctors?

    • @SecondStreetOrg
      @SecondStreetOrg  Месяц назад +5

Activity-based funding is the strategy of determining hospital budgets based on their output - so let's say, hypothetically, a hip replacement is worth $10,000 - if they do 200 hip replacements, they'll receive $2 million.

Instead of free drugs and needles perhaps rehab and mental therapy with a real good dr. like Dr. Jordan Peterson instead of all the experimental b.s currently provided.
