Is there still a “Show when run” option? I can’t find it. I don’t want the app showing up when I turn my phone on until I purposefully open the app. Can that be done?
The recording stops if you have anything else going on that is using voice for example if you’re trying to record a call while driving and you’re using the navigation as soon as the navigation app starts speaking directions, the voice recording stops.
The screenshots don't exactly match what I'm seeing on my iPhone but I guess I understand the principle. I'll try out what I've done and see if it works.
Honestly man I did everything you said and my voice memo app still cuts off saying that it can’t engage in recording during voice calls. Did Apple change this since you made this video?
Couldn’t find the gadget hack link in the description but have worked out how to do this on iPhone 12 Mini with up to date iOS. Shortcuts > + at top right Add Action > search for Record Scroll down to Voice Memos > tap Create Recording Give the recording a name (make it memorable or so that it stands out) Press Done, top right. Couldn’t find an option to hide the recording on screen. Open Settings, go to Accessibility > Touch Scroll down to Back Tap Select Double or Triple Tap Scroll down to Shortcuts Select whatever you called your shortcut (hopefully it’s something memorable) Double or Triple tapping (whichever you chose) the back of the iPhone starts the recording. Couple of notes - you can’t tap through a case, you must tap the back of the iPhone itself. I tap on the gap around the camera lenses which works OK, - although you only provided one name for recordings they are not overwritten. So a second recording just has a number after the name e.g. recording name is Evidence so first recorded Note is called ‘Evidence’, second recorded Note is called ‘Evidence 2’, etc. If I find a way to stop the recording showing on screen and sounding when started, I’ll post here.

Could you tell me which iOS you're using please Mr BBB? My iPhone looks slightly different, with no option to toggle "show when run", and "create recording" rather than "record a new voice memo". I thought I might be needing to update, which I did, but still looks exactly the same despite now being on iOS 16.2 on my 14 pro 🤔
I got this to work only my issue is that the phone does not record when it’s locked. This or voice memos cuts out about five seconds into the recording. Leaving out anything else! Anyone have a solution for this…?
weird when i searched "record", " record a new memo " didn't come up, so I tried "record memo", it didn't come up. So I tried memo, and finally came up... my menus were different and required some digging but I got it set up. Much thanks for your video!
I was following this and got up to Accessibility/Touch Accommodation. but below that, there is no TAP TO WAKE showing on my phone, which is an Iphone 7 Plus. So I'm guessing it is on later phones only? but which ones???
Back Tap. By unlocking and utilizing Back Tap, the accessibility feature in iOS 14 and later, you can make it so that you can start recording audio simply by tapping on the back of your iPhone.
This doesn't work for recording phone calls though - as soon as you start a call the recording stops and tells you you have to end the call before recording is allowed. Are we allowed to record a call and how can we do it? Thanks.
I believe there is an app for this, but it is a monthly subscription and I think??? I saw it as £30 a month. if you search "recording telephone calls" on the internet, it will show quite a few and quite a few different prices.

I always have a back up in fact I've got 2. One on DVD and another on a USB drive I'm old fashioned I suppose. I did have my usb drive in my pocket I think ive misplaced it. Ive searched everywhere at my home. It will probably turn up I suppose thank you bbb for the advice

@@Observeandlearn994 It is very easy to do. You just have to be determined and aware to record it on your older iPhone correctly. Do on ‘voice memos’ - every time you go into an appointment make sure you turn it on properly (and you don’t switch it off accidentally) you hold it subtly enough so you don’t cover the sound. And you duplicate it immediately as back up and make sure you detail what it is on your phone and keep a record.
Hello there, I recently had a pip assessment with capita in which I recorded the conversation which was done over the phone, she WAS aware as I told her I was recording. Just an off topic question, if it is found that the person who did the assessment has lied, isn't that 'bearing false witness' or false statements' and isn't that unlawful ? I was under the impression that if that was the case, it is an arrestable offence. If it was found that I was fraudulently claiming a benefit I was not entitled to, that would be fraud and there would be heavy consequences so what of capita assessments? What if it can be proven that they lied on their statements to have my support removed? What can be done about that.?
I’m being abused & I am also an alcoholic. I’ve tried to stop and alcohol is actively killing me. I’ve gotten clean. My partner says he cares about my life and he doesn’t want to watch me die, but he brings home handles of vodka or encourages me to pay for another bottle. Even when I say I’m not trying to drink that day…. Alcohol is ACTUALLY killing me. I have chronic pancreatitis & liver lesions and he’s stayed with me when I’ve been admitted to the hospital & has been so “concerned” but then does this. And when I call it out…. He’s like “no, you wanted this.” When I’ve literally told him many times I am not trying to drink no matter how badly I want to bc I feel an actual pancreatic attack coming on. It doesn’t matter. The only time he says my drinking is an issue is when I call out his shitty behavior & I happened to be drinking at that same exact time. Though; he’s done the same exact thing and said the same mean things while I was stone cold sober and he was drinking. But when everything is “calm” he is like “let’s get a bottle”. I explain that that shit makes zero sense if he is going to stand there and literally hardcore sob @ the fact “alcohol is killing me” but then feeds it to me and will expose my addiction to anyone if it is convenient for him at the time. Anything to make me out to be the addicted asshole. And since I have an admitted oroblem which I thought I could trust him with, instead, he just uses that knowledge as a means to chip away at my self esteem because “I’m the one with the clinical problem, not him”. But then the next day… like I said…. Supply me with my means of death. I’ve started to think a bit clearer & I truly believe he is just trying to control me and my actions. As long as I’m drunk and not sober, ima be sitting here at home bc I’m ashamed of myself and he knows that. He knows I’m not gonna put myself in a social situation being drunk bc everyone is increasingly concerned for me and my health and I don’t wanna break their hearts even more than I already have. Whenever I’ve been drinking with him & I get upset because he says something insensitive or mean, he starts to record me. Flash on and everything. Sometimes I’ve seen it and addressed it & he acts like I’m crazy and he never did that. As if I don’t also have an iPhone and know what the record/stop record noise sounds like plus the fact his flash is literally sitting there, constantly on. He will do that & dent if happened OR he will out the cam with the flash and all, in my face close af, and start talking shit just in the intentions of making me look like a “drunk idiot” or being overly dramatic. I need some means of recording that he won’t know about, I’m sick of being recorded and gaslit when he wants to twist narratives. I’ve found messages of him cheating on his phone before, I’ve never done anything like that to him, but I am the one who is constantly accused of cheating or possible cheating. On IOS 16 there is no toggle button to switch on or or so on a home screen recording is visible. Do you have any solution for this ?

I haven't tried it myself, but there is an app called "if this then that" which allows you to set up shortcuts in a similar fashion to this.

I thought you needed to get permission from the person before being allowed to record a conversation?
No. When you phone a company etc, they say they are recording for security etc. They aren't asking permission. They are telling you?
