    So cool you restore these! Such a useful, well made tool. My grandfather Roy owned Masterform and Plierench when I was very young. My earliest memories are being at the factory in Bensenville, IL. I have an old Dukane film strip projector 50's era Plierench used to show, "Plierench, the most useful hand tool in the world" on, narrated by "Patsy the Plierench Gal", in classic 50's trade show style. My father, uncle, brothers and I still have and regularly use the old Plierenchs. They do not make them like they used to is an understatement with regards to this tool. Really made me smile to see this history and appreciation living on.

I tried to upload the video to the PC but it was taking forever! lol I had a clip where I showed how the cutter worked on the wrench! That's a sign of pure enjoyment in what you are doing! The fact that you really get a kick out of bringing these tools back to life shows in a big way! Thanks for another GREAT video on another NEAT tool restoration !! Fabulous work!!

    Hey, I like long videos, thanks, great stuff here! I love old tools, old watches, old cars, my back wall has a variety of old rusty parts hanging as decoration among the plants. I have an old rusty cam shaft, water meter cover, some big spring from a big clock, and other odds and ends.

    • @ScoutCrafter

      Hello ryvr! The fact that you find those old mechanical parts interesting means you have a mind for engineering! If you look at a gear and are amazed it's because your brain is wired in such a way that it realizes the genius in the design! It's a wonderful gift!!! Thanks very much!!! 😃👍

      ScoutCrafter It occurred to me while watching your latest video that Ask This Old House should have a segment that brings information about great old tools to their viewers. You should be part of that excellent program. Your knowledge and ease of delivering make learning so easy and fun. I would love to suggest that to This Old House/Ask This Old House. What do you think?

    • @ScoutCrafter
      @ScoutCrafter  6 лет назад +2

      LOL Ian I am as amateur as they come but I do enjoy re-introducing tools to people that have overlooked them over the years... People pick up a pair of pliers or a hammer and don't think twice about the origin or history of that tool! So that is my job!!! Lol Thanks so much!!!!!!

    • @iansloan4261

      ScoutCrafter thank you for the reply! I need to get a belt sander to get my tools looking like yours do when you're done. Doing it by hand isn't going to work out very well. I might have to for some. If I don't do any sanding is it possible to get the tools to a mirror finish by using just the steel brush on the bench grinder and a buffer? Also does coating the tools in a clear gloss finish spray paint actually stay on the metal to protect it from rusting? I feel it would come off easily once put in a tool box or once the tool came into contact with other tools. Sorry for the questions I'm just starting to restore some tools and want to get to your level eventually. My son who is 8yo likes helping and seeing how they come out after. If email would work better for you you could always email me if you'd like at Kjbundy22@gmail.com. Thanks for any help! I'm sure I'll have more questions and will need more advice from you in the near future. Thanks again!

    Scout, I finally got one of these! But, my example has a round lower jaw with grip grooves in it. It’s almost like a cone shape, tapering towards the tip. Do you have any idea what its purpose is and if it has any advantage in certain circumstances or applications?

    • @ScoutCrafter
      @ScoutCrafter  6 лет назад +1

      I think that jaw you have was known as the universal Wire jaw! It is a very collectable jaw and was used to form wire, for fencing and holding tubes from the inside the end!!! One of the many speciality jaws they made for that awesome tool!!!!!! Great stuff!!!!!!

      You can make springs with that round jaw.

    Hi Scout - just picked one of these up for a couple dollars. Thought it was quite unique - never saw one before. Wanted to find out more and low and behold.....you have a video! Had now idea the run was that long for production. Haven't figured out how old mine is yet. Thought you would like to know the ratio is stamped 10-1 on the one I have as well as a price of $5.00. Thanks and have a happy day!

      Hi John! It's an older one for sure ($5) =) That is the best couple dollars you spent! It is a gem of a tool and just feels like a tank in the hand! Everyone who feels it for the first time is shocked! I am so glad you got it!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!

    You got me again! After watching this latest masterpiece come together, I had to own a pair for myself! Just ordered a nice specimen from eBay. Can’t wait! Hello Scott!!! You got a pair of CRONKS!!! Awesome! They are like Viking Pliers!!! LOL You are really building up a nice tool collection!!! I'm glad you got a Plierench! You will really enjoy the quality of this tool!!!! One thing- I had to edit out a section of the video where I demonstrated the cutter on the Plierench! It works but it always pinches your finger giving you a blood blister!! LOL If you have to cut something wear gloves!!!!! Let me know how you like it when you get it!!!!! Thanks very much!!!!!!

    firm believer in old, American-made tools are WAY better than those made today; even those still made in the U.S.A. some of the new ones are good. but most of those old ones are still kicking around simply because they were built to last a lifetime. and then they wound up lasting several lifetimes. if i can find an old U.S.-made tool, i'd much rather have that and clean it up to use, if i can.
    excellent video on a very cool tool with a unique design.

      Hello Sean!!!!!! You are so right!! Not only was the Forgings better but I believe the steel was really good in some tools back then! They didn't build things to last 10 years they built them to last forever!!! I love things that are overbuilt and well built! This wrench is a real good example of that! Built like a TANK!!!! =) Thanks very much!!!!!!

      what about knipex,wera.wiha,felo.
      Knipex is a german brand and is 150 years old pricey but quality.
      The rest is also german but the are mostly screwdriver brands quality all the way have my knipex cobra`s for over thirty years now still as good as day one, don`t believe just look at some reviews this goes about every brand mentioned in this comment.

    • @jusb1066
      @jusb1066 6 лет назад +1

      Justin Van Mierlo anything german french even made in spain is very good indeed, but they dont seem to be common in the USA which has dozens of brands which are sold everywhere, im in the UK and german tools are the go-to now, seeing as the UK stuff is no longer made, knipex are the best modern pliers its true and german screwdrivers excellent too, only recently can we get the japanese brands and not just the rebranded stuff we used to get before the chinese swamped that market, and their stuff, albeit very traditional design, is very good too.

    • @sean6077

    I have noticed on many of these, that the area above the pivot seems to push up the bottom of the framed outline of the Eifel Flash Plier Wrench label. Yours is slightly deformed upward. Do you think this is a weakness of this plier?

  • @Traderjoe
    @Traderjoe 6 лет назад

    Wow, I have never seen this one before. I already have a bid on one on eBay. Ill see if I get it and try it out. Do you know whats kind of similar and in a modern package? The Knipex Pliers Wrench. I have that plus the regular Knipex Cobra and they are among the nicest tools I have and the Pliers Wrench helped me change out a sink with nothing else and when you look at how beautifully designed and executed they are, they really are a work of art and very pleasing to look at. I got the smallest ones too and they can really exert a tremendous amount of clamping power.

      Hello TraderJoes! Yes! I agree 100% I too bought the small Knipex about a year ago and I am a fan for sure! I love quality tools! The Knipex is like a really well designed water pump pliers! The Plierench is built like a TANK!!! I hope you get the one you bid on or another because it is something that every tool lover should own... It is truly iconic!
