I'm taking AP 2d design, but im not sure what is the difference between drawing and 2d design. Do you have any advice on how to get a 5, cuz im stumped.
@@saladsrgreat Thank you!!! I'm not entirely sure, my art teachers were great in guiding me... I know it is more based on the principles of design such as balance, contrast, unity, rhythm, and others, and knowing those and how to use them is definitely key for the 2D design side. I would get to know them and practice with them as much as you can before diving in. Another thing that probably got me a good score on both of my portfolios was the subject matter. They are drawn to original/uniqe ideas, rather than "trite" ones. Trite subjects include unicorns, sunsets, etc, etc, basically repeated subjects/imagery. I was scared for this portfolio that I would lose points for originality. My original statement was just to make character designs for each of the planets based on mythology and science. I definitely changed that in the end, and ended up doing more research with roman stories and combined it with my family troubles. I think that's what got me in with that 5. Plus all the skills I had built up as a senior. Definitely think a lot about your subject matter and the principles of design. If you need anymore advise you can contact me on my email!
