In LA, it used to be one or two can lights on the roof of the car that flashed amber back and forth with each other at the rear, and were steady red at the front. Then LAPD switched to rotating light bars like the Twinsonic and Aerodynic and Jetsonic. Then they went to Code 3 rotating bars. Some of their undercover units just had a red light behind the mirror and amber blue deck light in the back. Nowadays they use Federal Signal Arjent and Valor bars.
Last box Caprice I saw in use was the Grand Isle (VT) Sheriffs in the late '00s. That's a summer tourist area, lots of officers alternate between them and ski towns so that unit probably spent all those winters in the county garage.

I immediately went over to Walmart which is like a mile away and got an oil change and check all the fluids... The suburban made it over three mountain ranges on way to Seattle I work there for about a year using the vehicle everyday..... Went to North Carolina to help a friend move down to Florida use the vehicle there for eight months then drove up to visit my parents in Pennsylvania.. probably still running now
