"Tie A Yellow Ribbon Around The Ole Oak Tree"
written by Irwin Levine and L. Russell Brown (1973)
I'm coming home I've done my time,
Now I've got to know what is and isn't mine,
If you receive my letter tellin' you I'd soon be free,
Then you'll know just what to do, if you still want me, if you still want me.
Tie a yellow ribbon `round the ole oak tree,
It's been three long years, do ya still want me?
If I don't see a ribbon ,round the ole oak tree,
I'll stay on the bus, forget about us, put the blame on me
If I don't see a ribbon `round the ole oak tree.
Bus driver, please look for me `cause I couldn't bear to see what I might see,
I'm really still in prison, and my love, she holds the key,
Simple yellow ribbon's what I need to set me free.
I wrote and told her please tie a yellow ribbon `round the ole oak tree,
It's been three long years, do ya still want me?
If I don't see a ribbon `round the ole oak tree,
I'll stay on the bus, forget about us, put the blame on me,
If I don't see a ribbon `round the ole oak tree.
Now the whole damn bus is cheering and I can't believe I see
A hundred yellow ribbons `round the ole oak tree.
Frank Sinatra is my hero. I would like to play his music loud enough for the whole wide world to hear.
....and you can hear every single word. Every syllable. Wonderful diction. Unlike today's singers!
@@neesargon3497 Yes, it was the great secret of great interpreters: voice and diction.
@@TheMrbooznon vi dimenticate la musica e i musicisti con cui ha collaborato... Grandissimi come lui. Lui era molto attento alla musica e alle note e la sua splendida voce si univa alla perfezione con la sua musica
Non importa... Sinatra lo devi amare... Inutile fare sentire Sinatra ai sordi
@@claudpiro6469 Undoubtedly. Sinatra was accompanied by excellent musicians.
I cried. I've looked for this version everywhere. I love Frank to death. THANKYOU!

Great version!!! :)
Wonderfull, my hero.
I like this song. This is probably the most listenable version i have found so far. I wish we had this song by Hank, Elvis or Bing.
perry como also nice
Dean sang it as well
Brilliant
I love this song with both Frank or Ray Conniff, I think each one got their own style, but still sounds amazing on both, excelent video, just the best music of the whole world, 70s.
The thing about Frank was he inhabited a song. He didn’t just sing the words. He never changed the tune or the structure of the songs , he just added twirly bits that gave a light and shade to the whole thing. There were a few singers of that era who could really sing and didn’t need electronic enhancement to make it sound good, which the mark of a real singer in my opinion.
Perry Como, Dean martin, Andy Williams, Tony Bennett, Bing Crosby, Sammy Davis Jnr. and (later) Harry Connick Jnr were also able to do this. In later years the only one I can think of that is so at ease singing is Michael Bublé.
esta canción me gusta mucho y esta versión me encantó😊😍

King of the swingers
In the Steve McQueen Western, Nevada Smith, Karl Malden calls him (several times), "Yella". Frank pronounces it the same here, but does say "yellow" at least once. Maybe he had just watched the movie.

Volodia Volodia -истину глаголишь.

I went looking for a slow version of it, but all versions I can find have an upbeat tempo to it. I'd love to her a more introspective version of the song! Do you have an example of one?
Who sung this song originally, Tony Orlando or Frank Sinatra?
Tony orlando
NINOY, CORY, NOYNOY, BAM, KRIS, BALLSY, VIEL, PINKY, JOSHUA, BIMBY AQUINO BROUGHT ME HERE. #NoToAquino

Ich

Tony Clifton sings this better
William Mckeown So does Dean.
this is suppost to be a sad song, the upbeat jazz and the confident, stark singing kills it. ffs its a song about someone who just spent the last 3 years in a federal penitentiary its not a happy song
Jimmy Russels How can you say that it’s not a happy song? Yes, he’s been in prison, but he’s coming home now, and his girl has tied not just one ribbon but 100 ribbons ‘round the old oak tree’. At first he can’t bear to look in case she doesn’t want him back, but ‘the whole damn bus is cheering’ for him at the sight. How much of a happier ending do you want?
Sad? He"s coming home to the girlfriend he hasn't seen for 3 years. What's sad about that? He's thrilled that she still wants him. So am I!!!
