hey bro i tried a few different Ip addresses i can't see the Apache or Ubuntu with that green + on it am i doing something wrong?

He man! I am thinking about 2 possible issues. 1. Did you make sure you have a connection to your target machine? 2. Do you have multiple network interfaces? If so you might want to check the LHOST setting because sometimes it uses an IP-adres of another interface. Hope this helps. If not let me know!
