Michael Trapson I'm starting with the man in the mirror. I'm asking him to change his ways. And no message could have been any clearer. If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and then make a change.
This was the first one I saw in the theater. I remember being SO excited, and then SO disappointed lol. I will say, over the years I've acquired more of an appreciation of it. It's not my favorite, but it's not my least favorite either. Love it guys, this series has been so GOTDAMN fun.
The dagger that killed jason was the kandarian dagger from evil dead, along with the Necronomicon and the hands of hell that took jason down is also from the original evil dead, clearly an alternate universe from the Friday the 13th line that was supposedly to connect to ash and freddy just like the comics
I remember during the autopsy scene when George Washington Duke said to Jason, this is your medical report. It's not so good, but we can work around it.
I flipped when Freddy's hand grab his mask when I was younger...necronomicon I was like yes Ash is the same universe Ash vs Freddy vs Jason movie. But No...they had a great comic book series!!!
Mike ,Jay , hope you guys have a great 4 of July weekend 2022 ! I know I will ! Hanging out with cousins & family & friends , & doing a little drinking & smoking (not cigarettes) !
From what I understand, Sean Cunningham didn't give two shits about the script or cast, he just wanted a movie with the title and without the mask.. something different. He saved money by hiring the director who was his sons best friend. The only cool thing was Duke, he had a awesome backstory and it was a shame it was cut. He could of been a reoccurring character and Steve Williams (duke) has always played creepy yet badass characters. He gave people chills in the X-Files just by showing up in odd places with cryptic information.
The reason that this film is titled "Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday" instead of "Friday the 13th Part IX" or something similar is that New Line Cinema had bought the rights to the Jason Voorhees character from Paramount, but did not have the rights to the name "Friday the 13th". When Creighton Duke is being interviewed and he demands $500,000 for the capture of Jason, he says, "For that, you get the mask, the machete, the whole damn thing." This is a reference to Jaws (1975) when Quint demands $10,000 to kill the shark. He says, "For that, you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing." One early concept for this movie was "Jason Goes To L.A" in which two rival gangs would be fighting. When Jason would show up and start murdering them, the rival gangs to band together to defeat Jason. Jason's heart was used in From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) as Monkey Man's heart. The crate in the basement of the Vorhees house was a prop from the story "The Crate" from Creepshow (1982). The jungle gym in front of the Vorhees house was also used in The Birds (1963). Barry Moss had served as casting director for the first Friday the 13th, but had nothing to do with the series after that. Sean Cunningham convinced him to come back for Jason Goes to Hell because Moss lived on the East Coast, and his cancer-stricken mother lived in Los Angeles. Working on Jason Goes to Hell gave him a professional reason to return to LA, providing a paycheck while spending his free time attending to the needs of his dying mother. The original title of the movie was "Friday the 13th Part IX: The Dark Heart of Jason Voorhees". According to co-writer Dean Lorey, the biggest mistake he made was a writing a baby into the story and Creighton Duke's sudden appearance in the lore despite never being mentioned in the last 8 films, and some of the rules to kill Jason. In extended interviews of Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th (2013) documentary about Friday The 13th movies Noel Cunningham said that original rough cut of "Jason Goes To Hell" was over 130 minutes long and therefore it had to be heavily re-edited to be faster paced and under 90 minutes long. This is the first Friday the 13th-related film to have another Voorhees (other than Jason) in the movie since Friday the 13th (1980). Though the theatrical poster features Jason wearing a shiny chrome mask, no such face covering is ever seen in the film. In fact, the mask he wears is the traditional hockey mask Jason is known for, but with his flesh growing over it. The demonic parasite on the cover also looks nothing like the parasite in the actual film. Jason does wear a metal futuristic mask in Jason X (2001). This was the first film in the series to be handled by New Line Cinema after the series was moved from Paramount. Tony Todd auditioned for the role of Creighton Duke, but lost out to Steven Williams. Like several of the sequels before it and in Jason X (2001) after this, the film originally had a flashback sequence and Betsy Palmer was proposed to reprise her role, but she decided not to for various reasons, usually money, in all the films. According to actress Rusty Schwimmer, most of the dialog between her character, Joey B, and Shelby (Leslie Jordan) was improvised on set. "They just rolled the cameras and let us go," she said. The only film in the series to be released in the 1990s. The character in the film named Robert Campbell is an intentional tribute to Robert Englund, who played Freddy Krueger, and Bruce Campbell, who played Ash from The Evil Dead. Director Adam Marcus's decision to cast an African American actor as Creighton Duke was influenced by 'George A. Romero''s continued casting of African Americans as heroes in his films, in spite of the turbulent political climate when these films were made. Marcus wanted to continue this trend, and ultimately chose Steven Williams for the role. The sheriff's surname is Landis, which is a reference to John Landis, director of An American Werewolf in London (1981) and Michael Jackson: Thriller (1982) Josh's death won the Golden Chainsaw Award in Dead Meat's "Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (R Rated Cut)" kill count, while Deborah Caldwell's death won the award in the Unrated Cut. FBI Agent Elizabeth Marcus is named after the director, Adam Marcus. In addition to his roles as Jason and the Security Guard, Kane Hodder also played Freddy Krueger's arm in the final scene, which technically makes him the only actor to play both Jason and Freddy Jason's heart was made of gelatin and filled with fruit cocktail, mixed with black dye. Still, actor Richard Gant was disgusted and reportedly nearly threw up during the take. The second of two 'Friday the 13th' movies that feature Jason in which he doesn't use a machete to kill anyone, the other being Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984). Jason possesses four people, all male (Phil the Coroner, Josh, Robert and Randy).
You missed the Creepshow reference that also included a The Thing reference. When the head of Jason's host comes off and the creature skitters out of his neck - Thing style - it cuts to a shot of the dead waitress next to The Crate that says Arctic Expedition, Julia Carpenter (as opposed to John Carpenter), Horlicks University.
at one point during the commentary on the dvd, the director openly admits at that point in his career he had no business helming a movie. the only reason i kno that is from a small documentary i saw called "how new line ruined friday the 13" yins should give it a watch
I always thought this movie ruled as a kid. Then I watched it a few years ago and i found out it literally makes zero sense. BTW why don't more people talk about the Necronomicon and the kandarian dagger showing up? And Duke has the best line "I think about a little girl with a hot dog shoving it in and out of a donut.". Solid Gold
Jason Goes to Hell is definitely worse than Halloween: Resurrection, if you look at them as Jason and Michael movies. Why? Because Jason isn't really in this film and it shits on the whole lore of the franchise. If you watch Jason Goes to Hell as just some weird one-off film about a body snatching killer with its own lore, then Halloween: Resurrection is the worst between the two. JGtH overall has a fun, entertaining feel to it with decent acting and some cool scenes. Resurrection, on the other hand, is loaded with massive levels of stupidity AND shits on the Halloween lore to boot. It's a fairly dull and forgettable movie. The only decent idea in the whole thing is seeing Michael stalk some people inside his own old house, but the entire camera show thing is contrived and really annoying, and just not meant for a Halloween film at all. Also, it would have been nice to see a whole movie with Myers stalking people inside a mental asylum. Kinda like H2's hospital setting, only instead with deranged, drugged out, and unhinged individuals instead of physically ill/injured people. Myers: Arkham Asylum Halloween: Smith's Grove Something like that.
I liked this movie, it's a fresh take on the Friday the 13th series. I agree that it wasn't the best and Jason not getting a lot of screen time sucked, but if you view it as its own movie, it's really an enjoyable film.
Will Unhock That would also explain how he returned to.the big form because last we saw he's a kid. No explanation for how he returned to the big form.
Well there's this theory going around that Rennie from part 8 hallucinated Jason turning into a little boy at the end, I mean she was hallucinating little boy Jason though most of the movie so it does kinda make sense.
It's because him as a kid was just Rennie hallucinating because of her craziness and the drugs those guys who wanted to rape her injected her with. In reality the toxic waste washed Jason back up to Crystal Lake. And I think the reason the FBI set up an ambush on him was because his killing spree in Manhattan basically revealed his existence to the world where before that he was only known to the people of Crystal Lake.
It does tie-in. Not only because of the ending, but Jason is in hell in the beginning of Freddy vs. Jason. It's the bridge that makes Jason X possible. I actually don't mind JGTH. The Necronomicon at the beginning also explains everything that happens in the film and series as a whole. The special knife is even the Kandarian Dagger from Evil Dead.
Did you guys know the connection about Jason is Deadite from The Evil Dead? think about it, the one book with all this demonic writting and the dagger that can kill him etc. I'm sure there is a video about it somewhere on RUclips.
Sean Cunningham was a huge reason this movie sucked so hard. He specifically instructed Adam Marcus to basically get rid of Jason & the mask, hence the body-jumping Jason. There’s ample evidence out there that Sean Cunningham doesn’t give a shit about Jason.
Tripper Getem becuz Jason Voorhees wasn't in part 5 it was some paramedic who had a blue coverols on and was where the hockey mask on and a elaberic flesh bald hood
While Jason Voorhees was avenging the death of his mother Roy Burns the paramedic of Crystal lake was avenging the death of his fatass annoying son who got a axe in the back
Yeah, as sleazy as Part V is, there are some good kills, and the Tommy Jarvis character is pretty interesting. I can’t stomach JGTH and the director has been obnoxious in interviews over the years commenting on the Friday movies and how he felt the movies were sexist so he decided to give women some “eye candy” to look at and he doesn’t care about fan backlash and all this other nonsense that the series doesn’t need in general and certainly not during a NINTH entry.
When I was a teenager, I just remember thinking, "What. The. Fuck?" after the first 30 minutes and then, after it was over, I was just sort of unable to articulate how I felt about it. I still can't really rationalize this film. I mean in some ways it's kind of entertaining, but the fact it's a Friday the 13th movie just makes it ridiculous.
I still don't know where the hell that magic dagger came from. It was never seen or mentioned in any of the previous films but in JGTH they're like "Here's this dagger that can send Jason to hell."
so I'm off work tomorrow (Friday the 13th) and I'm like, ok, hopefully I can find a Jason movie marathon. aside from the movie channels (which I don't get), one channel is playing this movie, Jason X, and Freddy vs Jason. ugh to the first two.
KNB did a badass job on the Jason look in JGTH. KNB always did a badass job in those late '80's and early '90's slashers... Anyway, if you look at the film as a one-shot type of thing, it is a really good slasher. In conjunction with the rest of the series, it looks weaker for a lot of folk.
My favorite scene would have to be a toss up between Halloween Resurrection where Busta Rhymes kicks Michael Myers ass, or Halloween II (2009) where Micheal speaks. Just fucking with you those scenes are piles of horse shit. For real it has got to be Freddy's hand grabbing Jason's mask. And I would most definitely watch Halloween Resurrection over Jason goes to Hell any day.
I have the blu ray box set and I can't bring myself ever to want to watch this atrocity ever again. I remember back in 1993 my brother and I were super stoked to see this one, and about halfway through we were thinking about leaving, but we stayed because we thought it's got to get better, well it doesn't. I still want my money back, the movie could have been great, besides that hot ass fbi agent lady at the beginning, which she was the best looking woman in the franchise, the movie was horrible. that's the blonde girl from roadhouse, the one who does the striptease before Dalton and wade Garrett brawl wesleys henchmen, Denise Michaels that's her name
Terrible movie. Even the ending with Freddy's glove, whilst it was very cool, was a frustrating tease because they still couldn't give us the Freddy vs Jason movie until yeaaaars later. Jason did look good tho in his few scenes he was actually in.
The stupidest scene in this is when the Jason possessed paramedic shaves the security guard then possesses him. In the His Name Was Jason documentary they jokingly call it the "Homoerotic shaving" scene.
Transfer by Mouth-To-Mouth Hell Snake n eatin Charred Jumbo hearts; should of been how Xmen:Apocalypse should of been transferring his consciousness lol
Great review boys I agree with you guys about this movie. When I watch it, I feel like the jerry curl mua fucka from part 5 saying " ooh baybeh ooohh baybeh you gonna get it bitch"
If they would've done a proper sequel to this one, it could have been the catalyst to introduce his father into the story while including easter eggs that would lead us to FvJ but nope we got Jason X
Dan S the kills in the remake stun besides one. It was boring and had to many sex and boob scenes . Like it got old. Heck one of the people working there walked out on the movie because he thought there were to many nude scenes and to graphic. When I seen the movie I actually done research Because I thought it was a porn movie.
Dan S If Jason Voorhees is a ordinary human in the remake then it's nonsensical that he throws a heavy axe like a football, teleportation, and was killed by a machine choking him but proving nonsensical he returns in the ending.
This movie had George Washington Duke. Is this the movie where Jason fought Tommy The Machine Gunn? In the ring. In the ring. Jason Voorhees only fights in the ring.
This was my first Jason movie, and I too was lured in by the pretty cool VHS cover art. Needless to say, my expectations for the rest of the franchise were lowered dramatically.
Even though Jason Goes to Hell stoke elements of Halloween and weird 80’s horror The Kiss, I still appreciate us more than Halloween Resurrection. I saw both movies in theaters and holy fuck, Resurrection was just bad. JGTH I used to hate, but it has fun moments and bad ass deaths
Man it sucks that story for Jason goes to Hell was horrible because I was expecting better but I give it credit for all the Horror movie references and the brutal gore in the unrated version that tent scene alone is prolly is one of the best in the franchise.
I find this movie title hilarious! ”Jason goes to hell.” Like someone says: Jason, go to hell! And Jason says: OK. This late in the evening I find everything hilarious. Sorry if I sound sacrilegious but I’ve just started one of my infamous unstoppable laughter attacks! I’m a terrible person!!! 😂😂😂
I really enjoyed this review of this movie. I never seen the movie but read the plot and really disliked the plot. made zero sense. but seen the ending scene where freddys glove came out of the dirt to grab jasons mask. thats was cool.
I 👍 👀 ing Steven Wiiams Again Havent sine since 21 jump Street 1970s 📺 show Now playing a Bounty hunter Cradn Duke JASION go's 2 Hell And FYI Johny Deep From 21 jump Steet 2 Night Marie on Elm Street 1 maga 😎💨 Both doing 🎥 s Fare out 👍👍👍👍/way ☝ .
Mike , whose better ,Rodgers or Bret Farve ? I think its Rodgers , 9 out of 10 ! Don't freak out at me , not saying Farve isn't a Hall a famer , cause he is ! Rodgers is just a better , more talented quarterback !
I honestly thought this movie was crap! Kane Hodder was completely wasted in this movie and I couldn't agree with you more on that. As Jason, he was barely in the movie. From my standpoint, this made part 7 look like a masterpiece. Even the lead chick, Jessica, was really annoying and painful to watch on a screen along with some of the other characters, so to speak...
Paul Swiers Halloween Resurrection is a awful movie because no damn explanation why the guy never lifts the mask to tell Laurie he's not Michael. Also he attacks her my gosh that is 1 of the dumbest most moronic most unneccesary sequels.
I feel like we were robbed on this one, I think Jason probably looks the most badass in this one and that shit got ripped in the first 10 mins of the movie
I know it's probably been said on here a few times but. Duke, the great Steven Williams, is 150% the Best Part of this Fuckin schlock of a movie!!! I love him in The X-Files and I love him in this movie. I love him in the old UFO documentary shows he used to host. The guys Fuckin great. He's always a badass no matter what role he's in. They totally fuck him over in this movie which I saw coming a mile away when I first saw it. He doesn't even get a good fight with Jason, it's such bullshit...
The is the very first Jason film I saw when I was a kid on Showtime in the 90s. This movie is so nasty, gory with good practical effects and it has hot chicks. I was puzzled when Freddy took Jason's mask because it was random and I didnt know there was a connection. I had asked my dad to find the sequel where the two characters fight but it didnt exist till 2003.
I vividly remember watching this one as a kid, the opening scene where Jason is tricked and blown to smithereens surprised the hell out of me, and I thought it was amazing. Then the rest of the movie happened and it wasn't quite as fun. This is my least favorite F13. It's such a weird film that added all of this terrible lore out of nowhere that nobody wanted and made no sense.
I fucking hated this movie, Manhattan is still the worst one, but this is a very close second. I did love seeing Freddy's hand coming out of the ground, that was cool. That's the only nice thing I can say about it. I would much rather watch Resurrection than this, it's bad but better than this.
Crieghtok Duke didn't actually die and the knife is from the evil dead.watch em and so is the book idiots! Watch those.thw fact Jason is still alive because of the necromicon is badass
Oh and fun fact. The reason this isn't called Friday the 13th is because new line bought Jason but not the rights to the title Friday the 13th.
That tent scene death is amazing though lol
The Unrated Version 👍
You guys are some of the most passionate Friday the 13th fans out there, loving these reviews and trailer reactions.
"I don't mean to hate on the movie that hard, but it really fuckin' sucks!" That made me laugh out loud. Man, this month has been awesome so far.
I hate this movie so much. 😒😒
Duke was the best part of the movie. Wish they would've continued the series with him
Michael Trapson He was struck by a smooth criminal.
Michael Trapson I'm starting with the man in the mirror. I'm asking him to change his ways. And no message could have been any clearer. If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and then make a change.
Very true about Duke.
"Bloop, I'm ready for school, mom," I fucking died!!! Lmao
If I ever meet you guys some how can I like hug you lmfao
Uncle Rico was and still is the greatest qb of all time. Back in 82' he could throw a football a quarter mile.
Also the "fuck it" face and shrug of the guy who eats the heart 😂
the best ending in horror movie history : FREDDYS GLOVE TAKING JASON MASK
END OF STORY!
Anthony Rodriguez Wow no jumscare I'm shocked.
I agree definitely my favorite
Kane was wearing the glove....so technically Kane has portrayed both Jason and Freddy.
You guys looked SO miserable doing this review and I don't blame you one bit 😂😂
This was the first one I saw in the theater. I remember being SO excited, and then SO disappointed lol. I will say, over the years I've acquired more of an appreciation of it. It's not my favorite, but it's not my least favorite either. Love it guys, this series has been so GOTDAMN fun.

3.0 for me...I gotta give it to Ressurrection for sure though over JG2H because at least Michael Myers actually killed people 👌🗡😲
Shamone!
Michael Trapson Heal the world. Make it a better place.

111highgh Yeah Allen Iverson is my favorite player of all time :)
Can you guys react to “Friday The 13th: Never Hike Alone fan film” that comes out tomorrow!!
Think we can get a prequel to this one that explains how he got home from NY?

I don't know how 1 person could like JGTH more than F13 Part 5.

The dagger is also the kandirion dagger from the evil dead. Like the exact one
They completely just leave the baby on the table at the end of the movie.
I hate Jason goes to hell. Ruined the whole mythos of Jason. I saw it in high school and I was so disappointed.
Id rather talk about damn tractors 😂
Halloween horror month rocks! You guys killed it!
so I'm off work tomorrow (Friday the 13th) and I'm like, ok, hopefully I can find a Jason movie marathon. aside from the movie channels (which I don't get), one channel is playing this movie, Jason X, and Freddy vs Jason. ugh to the first two.
Favre is the greatest QB of all time..
My Nword dying laughing Jesus Christ is my nigga 😂😂😂
Maybe I'm still upset Farve didn't lead the Jets to their second Superbowl win !
Terrible movie. Even the ending with Freddy's glove, whilst it was very cool, was a frustrating tease because they still couldn't give us the Freddy vs Jason movie until yeaaaars later. Jason did look good tho in his few scenes he was actually in.
This movie makes Halloween Reserection look like an academy award winner
If they would've done a proper sequel to this one, it could have been the catalyst to introduce his father into the story while including easter eggs that would lead us to FvJ but nope we got Jason X
yes
great video guys !!!!!
One big reason why I like this better than the remake . Is when he crushed that girl's head so hard it like exploded.
Dan S just letting you know IT is live on RUclips
Dan S If Jason Voorhees is a ordinary human in the remake then it's nonsensical that he throws a heavy axe like a football, teleportation, and was killed by a machine choking him but proving nonsensical he returns in the ending.
This movie had George Washington Duke. Is this the movie where Jason fought Tommy The Machine Gunn?
In the ring. In the ring.
Jason Voorhees only fights in the ring.
TOUCH ME AND I SUE.
4-eyed McDougle! Hahaha
This was my first Jason movie, and I too was lured in by the pretty cool VHS cover art. Needless to say, my expectations for the rest of the franchise were lowered dramatically.
It's like watching a raggedy version of shocker
Because he's Brett God damn Farve.......OMG!!......Haha
16:37 actually the dog never pissed he just hit the mask with his paw
Even though Jason Goes to Hell stoke elements of Halloween and weird 80’s horror The Kiss, I still appreciate us more than Halloween Resurrection. I saw both movies in theaters and holy fuck, Resurrection was just bad. JGTH I used to hate, but it has fun moments and bad ass deaths
Was that really Kincaid's dog (Jason) from Nightmare 4? I mean was it the same dog?
Jason looks cool In the movie but
you don't even see him for 10 minutes.
Man it sucks that story for Jason goes to Hell was horrible because I was expecting better but I give it credit for all the Horror movie references and the brutal gore in the unrated version that tent scene alone is prolly is one of the best in the franchise.
The guy from Friday the 13th: the series was the hero in this...?
That was a great movie review. I honestly greatly enjoyed watching this movie very much.
To be honest the first time i saw the cover for this movie i thought it was a spoof or parody of Friday the 13th.
This movie was atrocious and I honestly hated how Jason looked with that big stupid looking head. Just a complete pile of shit for me.

Mike , whose better ,Rodgers or Bret Farve ? I think its Rodgers , 9 out of 10 ! Don't freak out at me , not saying Farve isn't a Hall a famer , cause he is ! Rodgers is just a better , more talented quarterback !
I liked the end with freddys hand but Jason wasn’t in this movie enough at all.
I'd rather watch Halloween Resurrection, but Jason Goes to Hell has more entertaining scenes than Resurrection.
Paul Swiers Halloween Resurrection is a awful movie because no damn explanation why the guy never lifts the mask to tell Laurie he's not Michael.
Also he attacks her my gosh that is 1 of the dumbest most moronic most unneccesary sequels.
I saw this in theaters when I was 10 and hated it. Took me years to appreciate it
What did you guys think of the kill with the girl in the tent? I actually thought that was a good kill scene.
I feel like we were robbed on this one, I think Jason probably looks the most badass in this one and that shit got ripped in the first 10 mins of the movie
Hey WWAM gotta question what is your next franchises to down the line. Maybe final destination big fan guys.
We're getting ready to do commentaries on all the Screams! Well def, do Final Destination one of these days!
Just letting everyone know that 2017 IT is live .
Jason voorhees Fun while it lasted. 😆
Oh, it's back on! 😃
He doesn't even get a good fight with Jason, it's such bullshit...
y'all didn't mention the good gory melt scene
Never seen it and have no intention to
The New Mutants Trailer just Dropped.. Holy Fuck! Looks Scary AF. Please do a reaction to it.
It's pretty cheap but I could still watch for fun.
IF the movie had ENDED with the beginning, with a whole new script, it would have been GREAT. But it is still my LEAST favorite.
Well I love it
I fucking hated this movie, Manhattan is still the worst one, but this is a very close second. I did love seeing Freddy's hand coming out of the ground, that was cool. That's the only nice thing I can say about it. I would much rather watch Resurrection than this, it's bad but better than this.
What do you think about a jason like you & a myers like me ending up together!?! So you're saying there's a chance...
I brought a girl to this movie as a date. I never saw her again!
After all these years, I’ve still never seen this film in it’s entirety because it was so bad. I’ve tried three times to watch it.
Crieghtok Duke didn't actually die and the knife is from the evil dead.watch em and so is the book idiots! Watch those.thw fact Jason is still alive because of the necromicon is badass
the flame on the dvd cover is from this dumpster fire of a movie.
I've Seen The Sasquatch Gang, Funny Shit. We're Having Hotdogs & Cheetos
I'm gonna get my nuggets, don't you worry about how.
