It’s all about the journey. That sums up my collecting. We need a record store in Wenatchee.
Awesome roadtrip video!! Comon folks lets GET ON THAT QRATES PROJECT!!!
Really enjoying your videos! The Vinyl Vault watching from across the pond.
For that Big Brother and the Holding Company the signatures are part of the printing of the sleeve and the album came out 13 years after Janis Joplin died. That early Pet Sounds has a bar code on the back.
Right on. Our mistake! I wasn't familiar with that record.
“Early mono pressing”
HA, during Covid we drove to Seattle twice from our home in south central Kentucky. We took two different routes and they were both beautiful. We've been driving all over the country the last six years and I have been buying "store branded" record mats. I have 20 or so now. I don't have any from the Northeast yet.
Looks like that Pet Sounds has a bar code on the back. Most likely a 80’s or 90’s press. Check to see if it has a green label. Those 80’s green labels sound pretty great.
Ooohhh yeah good call. It has a green label!
@@TooManyRecords Cool. Before Analogue Productions did their Beach Boys reissues, those 80’s green labels were some of the best and cheapest ways to get nice sounding AAA pressings of The Beach Boys catalog.
Thanks for the video and sharing your trip. I just got the bug for getting back into vinyl after running into a new collector used record store. I also realized the used record store prices have shot up and a good way to make money if you have the knowledge for what’s rare and going for high prices. But what happened to those used record store in small towns when everything was under $10.?! Can’t believe that store wanted $50. to $100. for most of their records things have def changed in 20 years. Wow!
But I’m still glad ppl. are collecting vinyl again. The only thing I miss is when many of these albums were first out, ppl. lived it fully. Meaning the music was part of the various lifestyles, whether you were into rock, soil, punk, mellow rock, new age, disco and hip hop.
This store you're showing is pretty awesome, for sure!!
Looks like you and Goose had a great time! Love The National cap, Matt!!! 🧢
Nice haul
Big fan of archives, Matt! Imagine the stuff I pulled out several months ago....blue notes...yummy!
I used to find great records for a dollar now the prices went insane.I bought a master recording of Pink Floyd album for 14 dollars from Goodwill now people want insane prices for them. Also the jazz albums that used to be a few dollars now sells for hundreds of dollars.
That dopesmoker variant is the best one. It’s like a 40-50 dollar record. Really good pressing too. The southern lord pressings sound really good.
see below comment
@@TooManyRecords well damn
Your store,there.
I don't know what you consider an "early" pressing of that Pet Sounds but that cover has a barcode so, while the vinyl may be "early", the cover ain't.
An 'early mono pressing' of Pet Sounds...
...with a barcode on the back of the sleeve. OK then😂😂😂
Wow great haul guys. As a fan of the good old 7” single, I’d love to see what comes out of that crate of 1700!
It's a daunting task.
That Hormoaning is a counterfeit of an official EP that was only released in Japan and Australia, I believe. I think that cover replicates the Japanese CD cover. The Australian version has the band on the cover and there was an RSD repress ages ago.
Yeah I have the cd that is an official release that looks exactly the same with the same track listing.
Coooool
v v v cool
Wow... that Pink Floyd... super enjoyable video Matt. I know you work hard running that store but sharing these adventures shows how worthwhile those efforts can be.
Thank you Robin! Can't wait for your eventual visit to the states.
Awesome haul. You guys are doing what many of us older dudes (50-ish) did on a weekly basis in the '80s. Weekend trips to the big cities to buy LPs, 12" singles and import CDs. It was soooo much fun! BTW, do you have a 12" single vinyl collection in your store? Enjoy!
We have a cube of 12" singles!
Yeah, the 12’s was much harder to find when new and should be more rare bc most ppl. settled for the albums. I waiting for the younger vinyl collectors to better understand the value of the 12’s after they have learned more about albums.
I too was collecting from the 80’s and in my late 50’s. I can’t believe all those albums you used to see at every used record store for under $10. Is going for $50. to a$100. It’s been about 20!years since I’ve gone used record shopping and I guess vinyl has made a comeback and going for much higher prices.
I had many like 20 boxes that held about 200 in each box and they got wet and got mold and I had to throw them out about 8 years ago. It had some rare records and I wish the demand for records was there bc that’s when things went digital for djs and no one wanted vinyl. Oh well, I still have about 3k in my storage that I need to check in see what I got there.
I guess it makes sense that they named the store after the Zappa song "Hot Poop", because like Zappa's music, their pricing can be hard for many to understand or dissect.
Curious to know how that "Wish You Were Here" album sounds. What a cool find.
Fun video! Thanks as always for great stuff, man.
That Pet Sounds is most likely a 90's repress.
80s!
You should have called your store Cold Dog Poop.
Or diarrhea.
i just sold my copy of Siamese Dream. there's a pink and orange pressing that look damn similar. i think i got $250ish for mine with some jacket damage.
Damn, nice! This one is near mint.
I have a sealed copy I’d consider parting with. Original pressing
🎉
Hi Matt, enjoyed the video. Careful with that Big Brother and the Holding Company record, it didn’t look vintage to me and of course Janis died in 1970 so how can the signatures be real? Greetings from London, take care
Whoops! I guess it's not as great of a come up as we thought lol
It's funny because just yesterday, I saw an Instagram post from a guy I follow calling out Hot Poop for their insane pricing as well. It makes no sense.
ha! Go figure.
I've said it before, the vinyl resurgence was the worst thing to happen to collectors like me. That shop you featured with silly high prices is not unique. Even charity shops (thrift stores in the US) here in UK have gotten cheeky with pricing.
That Dopesmoker is prob at least $100
see above comment
do you clean and test all the ones you think are valuable?
Of course!
Hot Poop is waaay overpriced.
I've never seen anything like it.
Does TMR have a reddit community? If so that sounds like a fun place to talk records.
We don't, but we have a huge Facebook group! Honestly, making the facebook group cannibalized my audience so hard, my comment engagement on here dropped so drastically after I did that, slowing the channel's growth to a near halt. I'm not super keen to make a Discord or Reddit and further that :(
Do any Hendrix records not have really good track listings?
