I subscribed to War criminal Salute Sir. Nobody really wants war but you can't trust a country that hates us and will un life you without a care. This guy was doomed from the weak sergeants.

So he does it and gets sent to prison. But presidents do it with cruise missiles and navy seal teams, and it's just fine?
I have to ask you to do this. Explsin how exactly he was "fighting for his country".
If some Canadians,Mexicans, and Russians flew some planes into some buildings in China. And China invaded to spread some communism because they and other commie countries think its best. You'd just bow right Joe? Or even if you were a goat herder you would pick up.a rifle and fight the invaders? Take your pick. Its one or the other.
People would be shocked at how easy it is to convict someone in a military court. I’ve seen dozens of cases where convictions came from straight testimony. Sexual assault is by far the biggest issue, but I can guarantee that they’re innocent men sitting in Leavenworth right now.

That is exactly what a soldier is (soldier speaking as a colloquial term, not specifically US Army) a disposable tool used to complete a mission. That's just what we are. I myself am a US Marine. Mission Success and Accomplishment ultimately comes before our very survival. That's just how things are.
I'm a veteran and a felon. I was 17 in 2001 when I joined the before 9/11. I was angry as anybody, then shot at just like you and our battle buddies, but I'm also an Arab American and was treated like shit by fellow soldiers but bro we're no different if we do things like this. I support you no matter what, because now at 41 I see the game the government plays w us, then we do foolish things to keep our battle buddies from getting hurt, then we pay forever. You, we, will all pay forever!

I was a correction specialist U.S.M.C. detachment. There was an inmate that they called brick. He received five years for assaulting an officer with a hamburger. Talk about bullshit. I truly felt sorry for him..

Crazy dude premeditates murder. Proceeds to a secure detention facility and executes an unarmed detainee. Military tribunal found the nut case guilty and adjudicated a life sentence. The psycho did almost no time in prison and was released. What part of that infuriates you?

I was a Corpsman in the Navy. I had to treat patients that were acused of heinous crimes such as rape, child abuse, spouse abuse and other things. I had to treat belligerent drunks cussing and spitting at me. I always treated them like patients needing care. I tried not to look at their alledged crimes and focused only on their illness or injuries.
I didn't work in a brig oe military prison. It was regular hospitals. Sometimes inmates or accused were brought to the hospital. I just did my job.
This guy killed a POW. That was not his job. He is not a hero. His job was to detain and make sure the POWs were secure. It's murder.
Killing an enemy combantant who is actively trying to kill you is different than killing an unarmed captured enemy fighter.
I completely agree Navy brother. The podcast appears early on leaning to his bias. Many none veterans support military conflicts but would never serve in the military. I did four years in the Marines and was in the infantry. I was in the Marines before this mess was escalating. This guy wants to justify what he did. In reality, the Army should have carefully screened him. Four months there and he snapped. A Marine from Chicago went through a similar scenario. This guy is a war criminal. He and the host want to ignore this situation and make what was illegal to legal and justified. You can tell the host was never in the military. Maybe, at best, he was in the reserves. But I strongly doubt it.

As a Marine Corps combat veteran (2 tours to Afghanistan 2 tours to Iraq). I have to say I couldn’t agree more with the message he has. The only part I don’t support is the killing of a detainee. I can understand the mental health issues and the thought process of the situation. I can’t say I never thought the same thing of a detainee who was sniper who killed a teammate. This is a situation in my opinion you wouldn’t know what you would do unless you were there. I feel sorry for this dude and hope he is in a better place mentally and is getting the help he needs.
To put this in civilian terms he was a CO who entered and inmates cell and executed him. No way I am ok with that. I would have more respect for the guy if he owned he f'd up instead of painting himself as a victim. He did his time though, so...
As a pog Marine veteran that was voluntold to man a detention facility for around 3 months of my first deployment to Iraq, I don't support it either. Not all of our detainees were actual combatants. Some of them had bad attitudes and we treated them like they had bad attitudes, some of them were chill though. Never wanted to kill any of them.
However, I get it. I understand why he did it. We had a boot LT do some sht like what this soldier did, but at a checkpoint in Afghanistan. Executed a dude on a motorcycle.

Back in the 70s, my uncle had a choice go to prison for five years or join the Marines I’ll join the Marines was the best thing for him because it’s straightened him up his whole life

@vladimira.1941 I get that. He does need treatment. But i’m just saying we should remember that the person he took out was probably a very evil person. It’s not like he took out Mother Theresa. He even said that person had killed his mentor who he was really close to. I get that military shouldn’t act on impulse. But maybe the USA shouldn’t put 18 year olds into those situations. Maybe this guy at age 30 wouldn’t have done that. I definitely don’t think it’s anything to smile or be nonchalant about, and yes he does need help. But I just don’t put him in the same category as a killer in a USA prison who killed someone for the hell of it. This was a different type of situation.

I know this guy killed the guy in heat of passion. I don't think he's a killer I've met real killers and he doesn't have that vibe He may have impulse problems which has let him to violent and a killing situation Do I think he's a threat to public safety No could I'd be wrong Yeah.
This guy needs some serious help. He still has bloodlust in his eyes and as a fellow combat vet who was in the USMC in the Helmand push in 2010, I’m terrified of people like this and hope he can find forgiveness in his heart someday. I can see how absolutely angry and full of destruction in his eyes man and it’s sad. I hope he can find all the help he needs.

This is probably my favorite aps video ever. This dudes story and experiences are unreal and he’s amazingly articulate and well spoken. Seems like a super bright dude and also a savage to say the least. If everything he’s saying is true, and honestly I only say that because his life sounds like a 10/10 Hollywood movie lol. Them major props to this dude for being one of the most badass people of all time. I get people get squeamish over the killing stuff but I’m not the type to cry over a murderer being murdered

@@nickjohnson6368 unpremeditated murder. Pretrial was for 40 years. Judge gave me 76 years. I did 23 at the old USDB. Called it the castle. Got some really good stories about that hell whole!

Tread carefully, Joe. The guy did Time for murdering a prisoner. Regardless of the circumstances (and yes, vets have gotten a raw deal from our government as a whole), the action itself is not something that should be glorified or condoned. We are supposed to be above that.

I agree with everything your saying and your right, We are supposed to be above that. But, as a 22 year Army Combat Veteran, I can't help but understand how this guy felt at the time he done what he did. But, I also know that we swear an oath to follow the rules in the UCMJ( Uniform Code Of Military Justice) and the Geneva Convention.

@mongobongo91 I've had friends and family that went overseas after 911. Man, some of the stuff I learned what the taliban was doing. Strapping bombs and crap to women and kids and sending into military bases. I'd be messed up. My grandfather is a Army Ranger that served in nam and seeing him drink everyday to get rid of the demons. Unfortunately I never served but I know what I would've done if I was in his shoes. Man is a hero in my eyes..

My son was a sergeant & proudly went to Kandahar. Scary time for a mother. There's a reason they want to send them so young. My husband was overseas & also joined at 17, & we are also Hoosiers. Many similarities, Different outcomes. Glory to God 🙏 Such an interesting interview joe!!❤️

Great post. I’m from Indianapolis and I joined the Marines right after high school at 17 years old. I was a Marine Drill Instructor and I had 3 tours in Vietnam 🇻🇳. I was medically retired after 18+ years as a GYSGT of Marines. I’m now 100% VA and a double amputee. But I would do it all over again.😊

See the thing is, many people have lost those they considered brothers while serving. The difference is they still showed impulse control and didn’t commit a revenge killing, as they understand the morality of this action. This guy doesn’t.
This exactly. We do this shit and we lose any right to say “we are the good guys and are here to help”. The Taliban in our area had a very good legitimate reason to hate us and it’s hard for a westerner to understand (I myself fought in Afghanistan lost friends there etc) but then moved to this part of the world (Pakistan) and I see their POV now too (I don’t agree with the Taliban but I understand why they were fighting us).
If we hanged German officers for killing captured partisans then why are we calling our’s heroes for doing the same thing?

To all the people judging what he did you don’t understand where he was at. As a combat vet I completely understand the mind set he had to be in. War puts a person into unusual and extreme circumstances and with that comes unusual and extreme responses. I agree with this dude they weren’t a pow and insurgent is not a the same thing. This human deserved what they got. People forget about 9/11 and the 1000’s that died.
My question is how did they let someone who was diagnosed as schizophrenic in the Army? He never should have been there to begin with.
I’m a retired Marine Corps GySgt and I have worked in a number of military jail facilities Believe me. Each one of them that I have worked in is a lot different from civilian confinement facilities. More security,discipline,and no one ever escapes.Better mental health care

My C.O. put me in the brig in NorVa in 1975 for not joining his church.

Great interview ! You missed one excellent question that I thought should have been asked - How many OFFICERS are doing time in Leavenworth ? My bet is just a mere handful while there will be hundreds of enlisted, if not thousands. The military justice system bends over backwards to avoid convicting officers, and if it can't avoid it they try to give them the minimum sentence possible. An officer usually has to have done something really heinous, unable to be covered up, or have publicly shamed/humiliated his unit/branch to end up with a prison sentence. They'll sentence enlisted to prison without a 2nd thought.

Walking into a jail cell and shooting an unarmed combatant is a war crime all day long. We were taught from day one in the army that this type of behavior is wrong, period.
I am not a combat vet, but a vet non the less. It doesn't matter what the written rules are if you have lost it. If he really did reach out for help it is their fault. I understand that if you allow soldiers an easy way to tap out everyone would tap out. Non the less it is a failure of leadership if a person who is reaching out for help doesn't get it and they actually do what they say their going to do. As a vet we both know situation that we are put in makes it so that your damned if you do and your damned if you don't.
Lets not forget when the politicians who send people to conflicts break the law they don't go to jail.
@@why33-00 Right is right, and wrong is wrong. It may well be that leadership failed, but regardless, that doesn't mean this murderer shouldn't be held accountable. The Geneva Convention exists for a reason, and I was taught that in basic training, and after my enlistment was over and I was trained in the ROTC at the University of Minnesota. We are a nation of laws, and our military has to follow the rules or we are no better than the country's that don't.
So is strapping c 4 belts to 4 year old girls and having them run into a military base but tell that to the Taliban.

Excellent interview Joe. This guest, however, was clearly there to try and insert politics into your show. of course it’s your choice. If you want that on your show, the big problem I have with this guy is he is saying he is right for breaking laws. And illegally killing people Everybody who is ever been on your show has said yes it was wrong to violate laws and it’s wrong to illegally kill people. This guy is it’s clearly proud of violating laws and killing people illegally as long as he thinks it’s the right thing to do. I have every respect in the world for those who served except for those who served, and because of that it makes them think that they can disrespect our laws and disrespect fellow countrymen, just because they have a different political opinion. I find it incredibly suspect that he’s receiving death threats, but can’t give any proof or details of these death threats but somehow knows he’s receiving death threats from people who have a leftist persuasion and that’s all he knows and that’s the only information he can provide about it? I'm only half through the interview and I keep thinking, " this guy might kill again if he thinks it's justified, in his mind".
I was going to write something like you did, but I did not want to deal with being shouted down for telling the truth. You had the fortitude to state the right thing. I don’t understand how so many can think he is a hero and a victim. I did think it was funny when he said people with higher rank told him…whatever. Almost everyone is higher rank than a PFC… That could mean a specialist or sergeant. Hell, even a PFC with more time in rank.

My ex-wife's stepdad was in the Navy when he placed a hidden camera in her and her siblings bathroom vent when they were young girls to peep on them. IIRC he served a minimum of like 10 or 12 years in military prison. The weird part is I met him a couple times after he was released. Definitely has strong peepee toucher vibes

I'm wondering if there's something else missing because even most conservative marine types I know don't act so proud like him. He says the death of his squad caused him to mentally snap but usually, even psychology would show, if you unalive someone, it will cause PTSD. For someone so affected by the death of his squad it's weird he doesn't even have the "I snapped but regret it because I have flashbacks" type stuff.

You would be unhinged too if you went to war as a child of 18. That's why the military likes young recruits. They can mold them into whatever they want them to be. I had a friend that went to Beirut@19 and came back 3yrs later. I came up from behind him and tapped him on the shoulder to say hi when he returned. He almost kicked the crap out of me because he wound up with PTSD. They did the same thing to Vietnam vets.

The standard age for a person going in the military needs to be raised period to a level so we know that they can be properly trained and understand it at a mature level. Instead we give children guns.
I meeaan nobody is more fit for military duty then a 17 year old. They are a blank canvas ready to train.

He has no remorse for killing an individual that was personally responsible for killing his team, he speaks what most people speak only in their own minds. TBH, his CoC knew exactly what he was capable of doing, yet put the terrorist in confinement on the same FOB Lawerence was at and then… had Lawerence stand guard over him. Murdering a person, no matter how vile the person is, while he is confined in a jail cell is wrong on many levels. You are lucky that you only spent 7 years in prison. You committed a war crime. Nothing to be proud of. You are mentally unhinged if you can not see how wrong it is to kill someone in custody. Now, on the battlefield, that is different. Not taking prisoners on a battlefield is different. To say you are a Christian, and yet say you would not hesitate to kill someone even to this day, does not make sense. You are no more a Christian than the Taliban are nice people. You are mentally unhinged. The only things that I would agree with is that there are people in a military prison that should not be there and that politicians should stay out of the day to day operation of a war that they put the military in.

Military Prison vs State Prison?? Are u kidding me?? That's a no brainer. I would rather be in a Military prison. Why? Because its much safer. They have structure and it is a controlled environment. The food is good or decent and the facilities are much, much better.

This guy is not any kind of hero. He was dishonorably discharged from the military and sentenced to prison for murdering an unarmed prisoner. There are rules of engagement. He broke the rules.
