Well the swing axle may be trash for fast passanger cars, but Tatra from the Checz republic still uses it in their extreme offroad trucks. But yes those don't usually move very quickly. Actually the Tatras are some of the only heavy duty trucks with independent suspension on all wheels, and the only vehicle I know of with swing-axle front suspension.
Ford trucks for many years had swing axle front ends. Both rwd and 4WD versions. From the small Ranger pickup to the F series full sized trucks and E series vans. The pivot points were moved past center to help handling by minimizing deflection for a given travel. Basically the right side arm connected to the left side of the frame and the left arm to the right side so they crossed each other. In 4WD versions one arm contains the differential and the other wheel is driven via CV joint. At least one guy made a 4wheel IRS truck using the front end from another pickup in the rear of his Ranger. It takes very little work too.

I like the dark turquoise/teal color. My dad’s cousin had a 1963 Pontiac Tempest that color. At age 7, I thought that color looked pretty damn sharp. Actually, I still do now.
In any object that's flying, the heavy part tends to go to the front, that's why many rockets have winglets at the bottom, to have the center of lift closer to the center of mass, and since the car is just a big block of metal with little to none aerodynamic, the rear will always fight to be on the front
the rear suspension is actually similar, to a VW beetle rear suspension. If you ever look at lowered beetles the rear tires have a inward tilt (positive camber) so when extended like you showed it'd be negative as well
positive camber can be helpful in some cases alot of 70s fords and 80s chevy pickups had positive camber on the front end the reason was to enable the truck to carry heavier loads safer when weight is put of the truck the positive camber turns into neutral camber allowing the truck to have full contact patches on both the front and rear i believe the reason the corviar had the swing axle rear end was to compensate for the extra weight in the rear of the vehicle early 90s fords had the same style front end to allow more comfort
The car tipped forward when flying so much probably because of all the weight in the rear Imagine the car being pierced by a rod going perpendicular to the doors and trough the center of mass, now, blow on the car The front of the car should spin faster because of the extra leverage the air drag can have
Hey YBR, been watching for a couple of years, and I noticed you have controlled steering and speed. Your using a controller. I don't know if you are on console, or PC, but I'm looking at some PC gaming controllers, nothing expensive, and I was wondering if you have any suggestions. If you have none, that's fine. Thanks
He uses Pc with an Xbox 1 controller. A good controller would really be any controller. Just use a PS4 or Xbox controller. Or a switch or steam controller. It depends on your liking. I myself prefer PS4 controller.
There DOES seem to be a reason to have positive camber, at least from 5 minutes of research. It seems to be more stable and requires less steering effort, making it better for heavy vehicles like tractors and semi-trailers. However, it reduces your contact patch when turning.
Negative camber is usefull, and commenly used in drift, race and rally cars. As the car corners the negative camber is zeroed out because of the outside force on the wheel, pushing it vertically straigt. As the wheel comes straigt the tire makes more contact with the ground, thus giving you more grip.
13:52 Wanna know why the car tilts to the front while off the jump? when the car is off the jump the car is tilted to the a front by a bit. Then since the front off the car is lighter so it is more sensitive to drag so the front drags downward easily and with the help of the heavy rear
Im pretty sure the only place where one might find positive camber is race cars on tracks like indianapolis or daytona in indycars, nascar cars and such
Ur vids are so good I can’t afford beamngdrive and I don’t have a windows computer which will also be more money too so I wanted to try the part tool that lets you take off the hinges but realized I don’t have beamng drive so can u maybe make all the parts on any vehicle be taken off? I would love to see it. It would make my day too.
So it seems to me that the + camber is a result of the crappy rear suspension, more than it is anything inherently wrong with the vehicle itself. I suppose the RF setup with all that weight in the rear, doesn’t help matters any, but the instability itself isn’t the fault of just that setup alone.
I got a covet 1.5 Base, blew the radiator, then turned the wind speed all the way up. Then tore off all the front body panels and bent the front so the engine got direct air, I created an air-cooled covet
Legends tell, of a LeGran so crappy, that if you strapped it to a helicopter thats spinning, the wheels would go through the frame and CREATE BLACK HOLES.
the Morris Mini had the radiator sideways like that. of course, it was in the front and a tiny, tiny engine. i.pinimg.com/originals/d8/29/d8/d829d8e6ba62a1c8e9f64dd60bf2f7ca.jpg
