This course like your clawhammer banjo course will be a great resource for those learning banjo now and for generations to come! The way you break down the notes; the down, up and off beats demystifies the whole process!
Started listening and watching this course while breaking from doing my taxes. I tried to learn way back as a child, but gave up when the instructor kept trying to teach me guitar on a banjo. Learned more from watching this, and may have to go through it again- except with a banjo this time---my childhood one is long gone! Thanks for doing this!
Thanks Josh, this course has kept me sane while locked down in UK. It has opened open a whole new world of banjo playing for me, stay safe and thanks again.
Just want to give you a big thank you for this course. In the past week I had a small accident and injured my middle finger which prevents me from using it for 3 finger songs. However I can still do the 2 finger style which I am picking up pretty well. Thanks again and the middle finger will hopefully be back soon.
Good stuff! Learned a lot from this series. Funny, I've been learning darling corey over the last few days on my own using the exact same process. Works like a charm! Finally feel like I'm getting somewhere. Finally able to get rid of all the tab cluttering my practice area :)
Thank you very much for this course! 4 years on and still one of the best to learn 2 finger banjo. I have one question I hope you don't mind answering. It's regarding the melody vs drone notes. When you play the song the drone notes seem to be in the background and don't compete with the melody but when I play them I seem to loose the melody. Is it just all about the timing or is there a trick?
Hey Josh. Thank you for opening a new door to my beloved instrument. After first learning the clawhammer style I now got a renewed nd clarifying entrance to fingerpicking. Keep on making these videos !!!
Hey Josh, I really enjoy your method of learning the banjo. I'm 67 now and never played a instrument. There's a tune that I'd really like to master, dueling banjos !!! Do you feel that it's a song a beginner can handle. I have small hands and some arthritis in my fingers now and hitting chords is sometimes hard but I do hit them. I sometimes need to stop and reset but I feel in time that they will become second nature I hope. I do finger stretching before playing and other times tthrough the day. Is there anything you can recommend to get my fingers moving better.I don't believe 3 finger style playing will be very good for me, maybe 2 finger. I'm currently just using a guitar pick. Josh, any help you can throw my way would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Phil
Thanks very much for the course, Josh; I’ve really enjoyed it. I’m going to consolidate what I now know before deciding where to take it next. Needless to say, I’m looking forward to the bonus lessons!
Not sure how to get ahold of you, So I'm leaving a comment.... Would you happen to know how to play "Rocky Island" claw hammer style? If so, Is there anyway that you'd make a video showing how to play it, or play it correctly? I've been watching other peoples videos but not many cover that song and don't really show how to play it... Thank you.
Thanks Josh, this has been good. I know a version of Ain't Gonna Work Tomorrow that uses the same melody as Darlin' Corey, in D minor tuning. I look forward to more 2 finger ideas.
I'm grateful for this course which is so thoughtfully produced and offered.

Thanks so much, Dan! I sure hope it leads more people to pick up - and learn - the banjo, and all the many wonderful ways of making music on it!
